Hi Friends. If you see this interact so more people can see it. Here is a list of upcoming shows that have tix available with the link directly to it. Take a second to read through to find your city. Norfolk VA www.ticketmaster.com/event/010062... Burlington VT cart.flynnvt.org/18984/19157

How do the papers simultaneously post "new high end store coming to city" and "city is a dangerous hellhole where no one survives" and not see the contradiction? Do the editors from different sections not have lunch ever?
Abster (@abbystuller.bsky.social) reply parent
Why do they say he wrote the post. He clearly didn't. They even use "say" when describing what he has been doing when Trump hasn't said anything in days. So frustrating!!

Yes all of those, and (American style) biscuits.
Abster (@abbystuller.bsky.social) reply parent
There are some recipes where lumpy batter is a good thing, but it makes me nervous every time.
Abster (@abbystuller.bsky.social) reply parent
Opposite for me. Google search used to bring up relevant links with concise accurate info. With the first couple you understood most things. Now I get ai summary with a lot of inaccuracies and no indication of sourcing and then a bunch of irrelevant links after that. Wikipedia just beats it now.
Abster (@abbystuller.bsky.social) reply parent
They will be continually claiming new people as the next Trump, hoping desperately it will work with someone eventually.
Abster (@abbystuller.bsky.social) reply parent
That was definitely written by someone else. It's not even close to his patterns.
Abster (@abbystuller.bsky.social) reply parent
She started that weird sexting thing with a military guy (or more than one maybe?). I think after that it was either blackmail or the sex itself that caused her total self-destruction. Although getting into that relationship and behaving so recklessly was already a sign of going down that path.
Abster (@abbystuller.bsky.social) reply parent
It would be tragic and I would feel bad for him except I am out of sympathy for anyone willingly joining this administration.
Abster (@abbystuller.bsky.social) reply parent
I think he did come out a few times in his life but each time people around him who stood to gain from it and his own ambition kept pushing him back in.
Abster (@abbystuller.bsky.social) reply parent
That is absolutely Bessent's plan! That's why he leaked those stories earlier about working to stop the tariffs behind Navarro's back. What a weasel.
Abster (@abbystuller.bsky.social) reply parent
Why didn't you and the other senators block DOGE from entering the buildings in the first week? You should have been willing to be arrested.

They need to read more Vonnegut (Mother Night, in particular) if that is the case.
Abster (@abbystuller.bsky.social) reply parent
And labor costs!
Abster (@abbystuller.bsky.social) reply parent
It is possible the studio era tells better stories, but since you mainly share clips, the look of the early stuff works better, I think.
Abster (@abbystuller.bsky.social) reply parent
Silent movies are not something I know much about at all (except the obviously famous ones) so I really enjoy your posts and learn something new every time. It feels like the early stuff is incredibly imaginative and artistic.
Abster (@abbystuller.bsky.social) reply parent
Yeah, we definitely need ranked choice voting. That is the most important change needed to bring about more change for sure!
Abster (@abbystuller.bsky.social) reply parent
That's a total abdication of your responsibility in a democracy. You ought to vote in every election for the best choice at every level, especially primaries and local elections. And if you find you are always disgusted with the choices then you should get involved when candidates are recruited.
Abster (@abbystuller.bsky.social) reply parent

Abster (@abbystuller.bsky.social) reply parent
Often that religious charity stops systemic change. It encourages the poor to be subservient to their oppressors and the oppressors to absolve themselves. Non-religious charity sees poverty as a problem to solve. Religious charity sees poverty as an opportunity for grace.
Abster (@abbystuller.bsky.social) reply parent
It is so depressing. They are funneling all the money upwards to these terrible people who are then just spending tiny fractions of it to keep that process going.
Abster (@abbystuller.bsky.social) reply parent
Definitely! Then if the opposition says it's not really a problem those people will think it's a coverup or they are out-of-touch elitists. And of course real problems get ignored. It's tragic how well this works.
Abster (@abbystuller.bsky.social) reply parent
But that needs more elaboration. It may be correct, but it certainly isn't obvious. Schumer, in particular, should explain it in clear words and with associated possibilities and probabilities.
Abster (@abbystuller.bsky.social) reply parent
I misread your post. Sorry.
Abster (@abbystuller.bsky.social) reply parent
That is clearly not enough. Whatever he is doing is failing spectacularly, so either the money he is raising is not as effective as he or you think or he is so bad in other ways that it cancels out the money. In either case, isn't it crazy to stick with a losing plan?
Abster (@abbystuller.bsky.social) reply parent
I appreciate the sentiment, believe me, but I think I am past hoping for that and certainly don't prefer to wait. They don't have the capacity for shame or remorse or reflection. He will lash out and captivate them until the end.
Abster (@abbystuller.bsky.social) reply parent
Let's absolutely start there, though.
Abster (@abbystuller.bsky.social) reply parent
Yep. I think she knew the score going in.
Abster (@abbystuller.bsky.social) reply parent
You may be right, but is there any reason to believe that C1 and C2 are telling anything close to the truth? There is ample time and motive for this to all be made up. (This is not rhetorical, I am actually wondering if anyone knows how legit these stories are.)
Abster (@abbystuller.bsky.social) reply parent
Ideally, both
Abster (@abbystuller.bsky.social) reply parent
That's not true. A lot of other governors are successfully keeping Trump from messing with their state more effectively. That is why those states are not being covered as much.
Abster (@abbystuller.bsky.social) reply parent
Plus humility
Abster (@abbystuller.bsky.social) reply parent
I think it is also conservatives not wanting minorities to be educated (even separately) in a manner that allows them access to the middle class. It seems very important to them that there remain an underclass made up of people they feel no empathy or connection to.
Abster (@abbystuller.bsky.social) reply parent
I agree and think about that every day.
Abster (@abbystuller.bsky.social) reply parent
I completely agree he can't effect change in isolation. But I still wish he would do some of the things I said. We need all the help we can get to have a chance and would like for us to be better organized going into the midterms.
Abster (@abbystuller.bsky.social) reply parent
He is the leader of my party in the Senate. And how have I slandered him?
Abster (@abbystuller.bsky.social) reply parent
Seriously? The one thing Schumer and I agree on for sure is that the only way out of this is to get Dems to outvote the GOP. There is zero hope that the GOP changes course. I just want Schumer to have a plan and enlist our help to make it actually happen.
Abster (@abbystuller.bsky.social) reply parent
Why would Johnson listen to me? He is not my representative and he doesn't lead any part of my party. He actively hates me and wishes bad things for me. Schumer presumably has interests aligned with mine and wants a lot of the same things I do along with my support. So these are some ideas for him.
Abster (@abbystuller.bsky.social) reply parent
Here are some things he could do... Support Mamdani, help us get ahead of the news cycle, help us organize rallies or protests, re-explain his CR decision in light of what the results have been if he still thinks it was correct, show us how to protect elections, share the dem plan to win votes
Abster (@abbystuller.bsky.social) reply parent
That's what I think. Like a parent who is saying Two-and-a-half, Two-and-three-quarters... Because they don't know what to do if they actually get to 3 and the kid hasn't complied.
Abster (@abbystuller.bsky.social) reply parent
Pretty sure that is true, but I want her to realize that she is not correct about both the frequency and it being any of her business.
Abster (@abbystuller.bsky.social) reply parent
Were those friends put on hormone therapy in middle school?
Abster (@abbystuller.bsky.social) reply parent
Read BlueSky? They would never!! BlueSky is for them to post, but never, ever, under any circumstances to read what we reply or post and respond to it. They understand what we want and they will be happy to tell us what that is.
Abster (@abbystuller.bsky.social) reply parent
Exactly!!! I don't understand the argument at all. They are so healthy! They shouldn't have health *insurance*!!!!!???? Why not, isn't that exactly who should? They are prepared for a catastrophe and can get simple preventative care, but generally don't cost the system anything.
Abster (@abbystuller.bsky.social) reply parent
"Scammed" is better than betrayed from a persuasive standpoint. But in either case, it gives the impression that teachers mainly voted for Trump, which seems unlikely.
Abster (@abbystuller.bsky.social) reply parent
Okay, thought things veered into Russian prop land so I read your post history and see that is what is going on.
Abster (@abbystuller.bsky.social) reply parent
In my opinion you do have that requirement. If you have no real option that would prevent the genocide but you have an option that would stop what is currently happening to minorities here then you should take that option.
Abster (@abbystuller.bsky.social) reply parent
I don't think of that as loyalty to the party. I don't think Harris was owed my vote, though I really liked her. I do think everyone in the country was owed my making the best decision on their behalf though and that was why I voted for her. That's how I take "vote blue" to mean.
Abster (@abbystuller.bsky.social) reply parent
I am not being pedantic. I am saying that loyalty has nothing to do with it on the voter's part. Make whatever you feel is the best choice of those presented. And make sure to get in at the most local and primary stages you can to have the best chance of having options you like.
Abster (@abbystuller.bsky.social) reply parent
Well, local and primary elections are where voters can make their voice and votes count the most. But they aren't wrong that it is very important to vote in every election.
Abster (@abbystuller.bsky.social) reply parent
I don't think it is loyalty that anyone asks of voters on the left. It is just to choose the best option in each election.
Abster (@abbystuller.bsky.social) reply parent
Do not train teachers to use A.I. in the classroom. Give them the support to resist it from entering the classroom.
Abster (@abbystuller.bsky.social) reply parent
What is your response to Tom Homan saying he will send troops into New York?
Abster (@abbystuller.bsky.social) reply parent
You train them to be responsible learners the way you always have. The classroom can be a place of learning and assessment. A separate class in what artificial intelligence is and isn't is fine. But there is no reason for it to be a part of the regular classroom experience.
Abster (@abbystuller.bsky.social) reply parent
What do you think of the criticisms by teachers and other people in this thread? Can you explain why you don't agree?
Abster (@abbystuller.bsky.social) reply parent
That is like saying teachers need dance lessons because all the kids are doing it. We should make it clear that there is artificial intelligence and real intelligence and only one is applicable to the general classroom environment.
Abster (@abbystuller.bsky.social) reply parent
Oh they won't force you. But there will be a ready-made curriculum and school board and PTA presentations given. And they would never dream of making any veteran teacher switch, but it will be part of the orientation for new teachers, just in case they want to do it. But no pressure, of course!
Abster (@abbystuller.bsky.social) reply parent
Is it? Do you have evidence students graduating eighth grade now understand more about the world and how to gather and critically assess information than they did forty years ago and, if so, that this is attributable to computers in any way?
Abster (@abbystuller.bsky.social) reply parent
Calculators were not supposed to be used in place of learning math either. A weak teacher cannot withstand the pressure to keep the students on track to discover and create when a magic tool exists to pop out the "right" answer. This is Texas Instruments capturing education all over again! Resist it
Abster (@abbystuller.bsky.social) reply parent
Please do not feel obligated to pressure teachers to use A.I. because of this. Let the memory of how Texas Instruments hampered the mathematical understanding of many generations of kids be fresh in your mind.
Abster (@abbystuller.bsky.social) reply parent
Everyone always treats the story like the boy was solely at fault. But the townspeople both ignored a very important warning just because they were too lazy to take it seriously and, more importantly, left the same kid in charge who they knew was doing a bad job.
Abster (@abbystuller.bsky.social) reply parent
Definitely!!!!
Abster (@abbystuller.bsky.social) reply parent
I don't mean to resign is Senate seat. Just stop being the dem leader in the Senate. He can still whip votes, but get a good, strong, persuasive person out front.
Abster (@abbystuller.bsky.social) reply parent
Why don't you address the CR issue here again? Make us understand what precisely was at stake and why this outcome is better.
Abster (@abbystuller.bsky.social) reply parent
NBC is directly responsible for Trump. They shoehorned his name into their other popular shows to create his myth as a success. And then gave him his own show to continue the pretense.
Abster (@abbystuller.bsky.social) reply parent
Thank you for doing everything you did tonight and always! It seems like this find crystallizes that this is a battle between destruction and care. They just want to recklessly smash everything. You are on the side of discovery, care, and consideration.
Abster (@abbystuller.bsky.social) reply parent
Well, that too!
Abster (@abbystuller.bsky.social) reply parent
There's very little trans rights focus. It is rarely brought up by those on the side of rights. There is a lot of trans discrimination focus though.
Abster (@abbystuller.bsky.social) reply parent
Have you looked into the science of this? Intersexism, for example? You sound like you are just giving a sort of uninformed opinion.
Abster (@abbystuller.bsky.social) reply parent
What about intersex people? What "bones" do they have?
Abster (@abbystuller.bsky.social) reply parent
You are so right. I missed that and tried to appeal to their humanity. Mistake on my part.
Abster (@abbystuller.bsky.social) reply parent
Are you an expert on this or just going by your "common sense"? Because if it's just your opinion, it's saddled with your biases and inexperience. It's important to base decisions about rights on science and experts to make sure you don't support bigotry. Also people are misassigned at birth a lot.
Abster (@abbystuller.bsky.social) reply parent
This debate is just so infuriating!!!!! Able-bodied young men are not typically using a bunch of healthcare! In fact, they should probably get much more than they do on average. They don't run up costs of medicare! Republicans want these poor guys to just die if they have a sudden medical need.
Abster (@abbystuller.bsky.social) reply parent
So the actual sports authorities are dealing with this already. Why did the right wing in this country decide to make it a major issue? And why are they otherwise completely dismissive and hostile to women's sports? It is clearly motivated by bigotry. Rethink your position, considering your allies.
Abster (@abbystuller.bsky.social) reply parent
Sports are already ridiculously unfair and not based on merit. It is incredibly skewed by who can pay for training and access. It doesn't make sense to laser focus on this tiny issue. If you are not just an anti-trans bigot, then please think about why and when you have decided to care about this.
Abster (@abbystuller.bsky.social) reply parent
I agree. That is why we need them to come instead to understand how to vote correctly for their own economic interests.
Abster (@abbystuller.bsky.social) reply parent
But they get to vote anyway. So we need some of them.
Abster (@abbystuller.bsky.social) reply parent
Absolutely! We shouldn't have to. But I got a huge dose of reality this year and now realize that empathy is way less common than I thought.
Abster (@abbystuller.bsky.social) reply parent
Everyone who cares about you is already going to vote to get Republicans gone. And all of us are going to try to convince others to care also, but we understand that is too slow of a process to rely on. We need people who are stubbornly selfish jerks to vote to get Republicans gone also.
Abster (@abbystuller.bsky.social) reply parent
(You probably just meant this as a joke, and people shouldn't trust AI to make a good exam in any case, but...) The process of taking exams is for assessing student ability. The process of creating exams is not for assessing the ability of the examiners.
Abster (@abbystuller.bsky.social) reply parent
Inexcusable!!!!
Abster (@abbystuller.bsky.social) reply parent
I think you are trying to help him be more popular by lending your credibility. And it did make me think that maybe there is more behind the scenes. But he should engage with us here then, be responsive to our worries, and explain that. Otherwise he will continue to look out of touch.
Abster (@abbystuller.bsky.social) reply parent
Sure, don't care about that distinction particularly. Tolerance is fine.
Abster (@abbystuller.bsky.social) reply parent
I am sorry that has happened to you on both counts. No one should police who you love or how you refer to yourself.
Abster (@abbystuller.bsky.social) reply parent
Nah. There is no reason for people who are just being themselves and not harming others to have to wait to be accepted until enough funerals occur that the busybodies aren't a problem. The old guard should accept that whatever they believed at 20 may not be the gold standard anymore.
Abster (@abbystuller.bsky.social) reply parent
Yes, but it is very clearly the case right now. Centrism doesn't fix that, it ignores it.
Abster (@abbystuller.bsky.social) reply parent
Sure, until significant others are invited to the company picnic, but not yours.
Abster (@abbystuller.bsky.social) reply parent
Okay, I have to say that I think you sort of feel it is okay to make rules based on your personal level of comfort. That is why it is important to recognize that eventually our time is up for determining that and let a new normal arise. Unappreciated flirting in the workplace was OK until it wasn't.
Abster (@abbystuller.bsky.social) reply parent
I don't believe you really believe that. Would you be okay with a boss calling a secretary "Babe" if the secretary asked them not to? Is that a situation you would say should be left up to them to work out?
Abster (@abbystuller.bsky.social) reply parent
But there has to be a rule one way or the other. It is a workplace, so HR either has to say it is okay or isn't. The question isn't if it is impolite, because it clearly is, it is what happens when someone at work is impolite. What is the line?
Abster (@abbystuller.bsky.social) reply parent
Suppose someone asks to be referred to at work by a nickname that doesn't match their apparent sex? Do you think colleagues should have to do that or be able to refuse?
Abster (@abbystuller.bsky.social) reply parent
I agree with age as a single metric, but there is certainly a correlation. What do you oppose in progressivism that isn't in liberalism?
Abster (@abbystuller.bsky.social) reply parent
That is all the more reason for Schumer to have mentored a center-left protege and passed the torch of leadership on. The progressives have a real shot at making their case now and will have overwhelming younger support. (Admittedly, I very much welcome this as an older progressive.)
Abster (@abbystuller.bsky.social) reply parent
Absolutely disagree! It is ridiculously hard for people to recognize their own decline and rigidity of thought unless the people that support them are being open and honest about it. And I bet that many things you support were once considered extreme politics of the young. Move over and make room.
Abster (@abbystuller.bsky.social) reply parent
But that career has to end at some point, right? Beloved teachers, doctors, etc eventually say their work is done and hopefully have mentored others at that point to take their place. The best ones step down when they still have something to give but recognize they are the past, not future.
Abster (@abbystuller.bsky.social) reply parent
Because it is a criminal conspiracy. It will hold until someone fully breaks and starts providing evidence. Only then they will all turn on each other.
Abster (@abbystuller.bsky.social) reply parent
The math made it impossible for her then no matter what. Without ranked choice voting you will always have to vote and also pick the person you agree with the most who has a chance of winning or you are moving farther from your ultimate goals. Math is math.
