This narrative translates into three demands: No NATO membership, Ukraine demilitarised, and no Western troops in Ukraine. Ukraine and Europe will never ever agree to those terms. This war will rage for a long time. Europe must face the reality that we must flood Ukraine with weapons and aid.
No ceasefire agreed. No questions from reporters allowed. Putin allowed to deliver propaganda and his imperialist justification for invading Ukraine at the US presidential podium. Russian drones and missiles rained down on Ukraine while they spoke. All this achieved was buying Putin more time.

Trump did not need a meeting with Putin to end the war. He should simply have sent Putin a diplomatic cable telling him to end the invasion or the US would provide Ukraine with the firepower and equipment needed to do so.

The UK recognising a Palestinian state on the basis of a two-state solution does not "reward" Hamas. It is a direct contradiction of Hamas and Netanyahu's competing visions for a one-state solution and an attempt to preserve the only model that could achieve peace. Good to discuss on i24News.
The West has massive economic and military leverage over Israel that it should be willing to yield to change policy.
Fortunately, I strongly suspect the UK and other countries won't consider some ambiguous and performative Israeli govt statement about wanting peace with Palestinians to be anywhere near satisfactory.
Because simply recognising a Palestinian state won't produce a Palestinian state. Circumstances must actually change on the ground for it to happen. And the best way that occurs is for Israel to recommit to a two-state solution. So it's worth using it as leverage to attempt the optimal outcome.
It's a good tactic to encourage Israeli policy change. Hopefully other European countries do the same. It's worth a go, even if ultimately futile. And Starmer's statement made it pretty clear that 'lip service' to a two-state solution wouldn't cut it.
I don't think that would be necessary. Israel couldn't survive without Western military and economic trade and integration, so the West should use that as leverage to force a policy outcome.
The West needs to inform Israel that it must either restart a process towards a viable two-state solution or have a solution forced upon it. If Israel chooses the latter, the West must force a full Israeli withdrawal from Gaza & West Bank and hand over security authority to an international force.
Correct decision for the UK to recognise a Palestinian State in September unless Israel commits to a two-state solution. But recognition alone won't bring peace. The only route is for a long-term international force to replace the IDF in Gaza & West Bank to supervise & protect a Palestinian State.
