Yeah, I had a doctor's appointment recently and asked him if my husband and I (both in a high-risk category, but not senior citizens) would be able to get boosters this year. He wasn't sure.

We have a new fiscal year coming. Starting Tuesday, they have a chance to write a proper budget bill. My faith is very low, however.

As an editor with a few years left in me, I dread the day my job is taken over by AI. Someone at work asked about authorizing the use of ChatGPT here, and I nearly screamed several select profanities.
They used to, to some extent, but that doesn't seem to be the case anymore, which makes me wonder if we'll get a budget bill for the next fiscal year, or if they'll willfully close down Government, because they don't seem to care about voters anymore.
Us locals try to avoid the place on the weekends.

DoD stopped doing theirs in May. We were supposed to fill out a survey after, but I was on vacation and missed it, then didn’t realize I supposed to do it until long after I should have, so I didn’t. I guess they can use that to fire me. I’m safe so far though.

The employees are on administrative leave until September, so they’re getting paid but not working. The funds come from what the agency would pay them if they were working, already budgeted employee funds. The DRP ends with the fiscal year, and they will be officially separated and no longer paid.
No, and the money comes from each individual agency. This made the first DRP sketchy because it came from OPM, obligating funds that were only guaranteed until March. After March, many agencies did their own DRP, which Congress didn’t need to approve because it was already obligated funds.
Yes. Yelling about your own books is tacky. Yelling about other people’s books is word of mouth advertising. That being said, the Rachel Peng books (at least the first three) are good. People should read them. And I should get on to reading your other books.

When the Regime was elected, we put a statement on our Feral Writers Club website supporting creators in every facet. One of our founding members writes gay romance. Another writes all stripes of erotica. We have to stand together to get through these times. Keep up the good fight!

He probably has issues since they are common. However, I suspect the bad make-up job on his hand was intentional to draw attention to it as further distraction. That’s basically his job right now - distracted from the real crap going on.
I fully believe he was both a client and a business partner. I wouldn’t be surprised if he was still running something.

I suspect he helped Epstein and Maxwell, which may make him less immune to the deal Epstein made to protect people on the list. In other words, he wasn’t just a client, but a partner.

I just cleaned out my pantry and had to toss a bunch of baking supplies that were long past expired. I told my husband I either need to bake more or buy less, and he said, why not both? Mostly because I don’t have time and we shouldn’t be eating baked goods. LOL

I don’t understand why these people are so afraid of Trump. The choice here is get primaried (which isn’t necessarily going to lose you the seat) or cede all the power to the WH and become pointless and worthless to their donors.
Sorry... you can't be worried about the Regime blacklisting you, if you screw over your constituents, who are the ones voting for/against you. Also, if you hand all the power of Congress to the Executive branch, your seat is meaningless.

I have a feeling someone (everyone?) inside is egging Trump on to do impeachable things, so an impeachment hearing will tie up Congress while the Regime continues to do awful things. They don’t need Trump, just the distractions.
I feel like the courts should pause immigration hearings so people don’t have to chose between following the law and risk getting kidnapped, and breaking the law by not showing up. At the very least, why not switch to virtual hearings?
At what point do the courts halt all immigration hearings so people aren’t compelled to put themselves in ICE’s path?
We need an Old Testament God to strike some people down.
General rule of thumb - if they're wearing a mask and no uniform, they probably aren't ICE. The real question is, where are they actually taking the people they kidnap?

Yep. I work for the Department of the Navy, and DoD scrubbed out everything that even remotely touched on diversity, including not allowing employees to have diverse posters or decorations. I had to remove holiday decorations from photos in our last newsletter.
And it will move to June 14.
I’m kind of surprised they didn’t cancel it outright. Though I guess the OPM calendar was already set when the Regime came in. I won’t be surprised if next year there won’t be MLK jr Day or Juneteenth.
I'm working on a sequel to my favorite piece - unfortunately, it's been a slow slog. It won't be ready by my arbitrary publication date. That's the nice thing about self-publishing though... it can happen whenever. So, it's okay that I'm being distracted by editing work on a friend's piece.
I’m in the DC area… part of me wants to join the DC protest, but the rational introvert in me thinks that other part is insane. I’m expecting the worst to happen. After that… who knows? Saturday may change everything.
