It wasn’t only that you had fewer games as a kid, there were simply fewer games to be had! Depending on what console you owned, it could be months before something came out that caught your eye. Today there’s just too much out there. 15,000 new games last year alone, and that’s just on Steam…
I think there’s an argument for the notability of the “console wars” - which was an example of the marketing aspect. But tacking random failed consoles into each gen because someone decided they needed a home isn’t right. Did the Casio Loopy really need to be grouped with the PS1 & Saturn?

The Fantasia world is always the highlight of this game for me. Just the way the normal attack sounds blend into the orchestral background music is a lovely touch, it makes it feel like you’re experiencing the music itself.

Yup, I just finished “The Saint’s Magic Power is Omnipotent” and it’s this to a T - although on its face it’s an “exhausted office lady gets isekai’d away from her humdrum life” premise.
World of Illusion is very good indeed. Possibly the best all-ages co-op game on the system, a great one to share with kids or siblings! 😁
EA snapped up a bunch of Amiga and PC ports that you wouldn’t expect on consoles, like Might & Magic, The Immortal, and Buck Rodgers. Compared to those, a nice traditional platformer like James Pond must’ve been easy!

New Ahoy video! On an obscure Amiga puzzle game, Brat. Really, I could listen to Ahoy talk about anything. He’s got this way of making any subject sound absolutely compelling. And his graphic design and photography is top notch as always.
Spider-Man PS4 does a lot to keep things fresh even for fans of the comics. It puts familiar characters in slightly different situations, features a relatively new villain as the primary antagonist for much of the game, and genuinely tries to subvert expectations. I really appreciated it!

Im having an issue with Zombie Revenge and its VMU game. I can't access the main menu in the game on the VMU it just keeps going to the stats page by itself. Any help from the community would be nice if possible. Thank you :) #dreamcast
We learned how to wire a plug on school, in the mid-90s, but this must’ve been a holdover from the previous curriculum as I never had to put it into practice. Everything had its own plug by then.
If you can find something broadcasting an analogue TV signal, you can still use it… 🙂 Or for some more fun, hook it up to a VCR and you can have anything passed through it (like other games consoles) outputting on the Game Gear’s screen!

Once they proved that home consoles could do arcade perfect ports with no compromises, it was logical to ask “what else can you give us on, there’s gotta be space on the CD!” I think that this this one just came too late in the Dreamcast’s life for Capcom to want to bother.
Now I feel a little bad about being slightly negative towards it yesterday! But only in comparison to its sequel. (A coincidence that I happened to pull it from my shelf!) Anyway, the original Spider-Man is a special game; sets the bar for superhero games, much as the movie did a few years later.

For #RandomGameSaturday I grabbed Spider-Man 2: Enter Electro! I always felt this one was the better of the two PS1 Spideys. Vicarious Visions did a great job refining the gameplay from Neversoft’s original, like allowing Spidey to come down from the rooftops and wander the streets!

That’s the standard Mega Drive box art template in Europe from around 1993-94 onwards. It’s similar to the Genesis red stripe and spine in the US. Personally, I prefer the blue… 🙂

Dungeon Encounters is a hex RPG that has you venturing into a gigantic dungeon with 4 party members! This game is brutal and will punish you for not being on your feet but with good exploration you will find exactly what you need to survive! I can't recommend this game enough!

Wii U discs are not standard Blu-rays, they’re a proprietary variant with different characteristics. Physically, they have soft rounded edges. Only Nintendo had the means to mass produce Wii U discs, so any officially licensed games would have been with their cooperation.
