Please commence your new deathwishes. And remember not to be crass when you describe the eventual grave desecration rituals you have planned. Certainly we will all have our chance to befoul it, but that means allowing for those at grave risk getting a chance to move to the front of the line.

Gotta believe he's going to wipe out the tariffs and impose new taxes after finding out that's where he can get more money to the government, which he can then just dump into his crypto.

People are waking up to the scam of capitalism, but most won't be able to put the name to the problem because the generations of regulation created a false sense of potential.

Mr Gaines, in your own words, what makes you feel qualified to represent the state of Tennessee in Congress? "Well, my daughter isn't very good at swimming."

Collectively, we can progress. Take care and be smart and honest and just. Good luck out there. Thank you.
class war clown (@anothersockpuppet.bsky.social) reply parent
Together we can not only empower knowledge as a core value, but advance the aim of our species maturing out of the banality of evils and hatreds of others for how they are born, or where they are born, or why they are born. The majority of people want to abandon ignorance rather than cling to it.
class war clown (@anothersockpuppet.bsky.social) reply parent
Specifically irrational fears drive conservatives. Rational fears don't enter into their agenda as evidenced by their agenda! So it remains in our collective interests to push aside their devotion to ignorance. It is in our interests to disrespect it! To loathe it!
class war clown (@anothersockpuppet.bsky.social) reply parent
And then you can keep your focus on your job, your family, your community, your art, your hobbies, or whatever would be a better way to spend your life. Experts are a shortcut to the best possible future, but there are giant groups of conservatives that will impede all progress out of fear.
class war clown (@anothersockpuppet.bsky.social) reply parent
They are taking so much off your plate! You don't have to evaluate and investigate pollution, medicine, product safety, food safety, social advancement opportunities like UBI or universal healthcare. In so many cases the work is already done! If you have a proven outlet, you can get the facts!
class war clown (@anothersockpuppet.bsky.social) reply parent
And an acceptance that people who devote all their effort to understanding something and work alongside others who do the same and who invite oversight and evaluation will know more than you do about so many topics and that there is societal value in deferring to those experts.
class war clown (@anothersockpuppet.bsky.social) reply parent
Knowledge is always the frontier. There's always more to learn and understand and inspire and progress. But to keep humanity able to push at that frontier requires acceptance. Especially an acceptance that while you may maintain rules in your house, those are unlikely of value outside of it.
class war clown (@anothersockpuppet.bsky.social) reply parent
So it's up to all of us to not simply ignore those who prefer to know nothing while espousing their truths, but to also deride them and end all tolerance of their xenocidal poison. This is not to target those who investigate matters of the spirit, but those who devalue real knowledge. The frontier.
class war clown (@anothersockpuppet.bsky.social) reply parent
I write all of this to arrive at the crux of the battle: the hatred of knowledge. The way that genuine knowledge humbles those of weak character; those who spout about truth rather than addressing reality. They are woven into the fabric of America and maybe humanity. They eschew reality for comfort.
class war clown (@anothersockpuppet.bsky.social) reply parent
Neither congresspeople, nor judges (collectively) are adequate to understand the value of research and so it should be entrusted to those who can evaluate and appreciate the work and the intentions behind said work. And then there's libraries and the lasting value of the research...
class war clown (@anothersockpuppet.bsky.social) reply parent
Which ties into funding. They should be well-funded, determined primarily by peers and emeritus members of their community providing informed recommendations to Congress to prevent research being beholden to capital's interests over humanity's.
class war clown (@anothersockpuppet.bsky.social) reply parent
So we want our experts to be appreciated, and also for them to be connected and intertwined both with each other and with the world (and art!) around them. They shouldn't require security. They shouldn't face threats. They should absolutely be questioned and held to ethical standards.
class war clown (@anothersockpuppet.bsky.social) reply parent
Returning to experts and their work, they don't typically pursue it in isolation, because they know that will lead to cul-de-sacs of uninspired thumb-twiddling. Without openness to peers and beyond, they will find breakthroughs elusive and incremental advancements unsatisfying.
class war clown (@anothersockpuppet.bsky.social) reply parent
Because so many others will tell you that truth is the only valuable pursuit and these experts are wasting their time chasing down the minutiae of reality. And those many others are not helping anyone. Anyone whose efforts require ignoring reality are not here to make your life better in any sense.
class war clown (@anothersockpuppet.bsky.social) reply parent
They don't have to be humble in the face of their work because they are excited to do the work and see what happens and use what they learn in each study or experiment to advance to a new frontier in their field. They aren't out for truth; they want reality. And that pursuit of reality is precious.
class war clown (@anothersockpuppet.bsky.social) reply parent
We're talking about people who invite criticism and examination of their work, because they know it strengthens the value of their work. These are not the type that eschew peer reviews or fight for a conclusion to their research when the evidence refutes it.
class war clown (@anothersockpuppet.bsky.social)
So I have a longstanding button inside me that this notion presses with great force. Experts, true experts, are invaluable to the advancement of life on this planet. We need to start from there because dismissing the people who devote their talents to a field and endeavor to advance it is wrong.
class war clown (@anothersockpuppet.bsky.social)
