I learned early on that the CHEAPEST part of a photo shoot is the film.
This is inside Frogner Park, if memory serves me. A wonderful place. One of the things I remember about it (besides the mind-boggling sculptures) is the “warme polse” (“hot sausage”) carts with the most delicious sossidge-inna-bun I’ve ever had.

I *might* be safe, though, since I’m about as white as one can be (germs from France, England, Wales and Denmark). Not proud, not ashamed, just there it is.
Even though my paternal ancestors came to he USA before there *WAS* a USA (1697), and my maternal ancestors are US citizens three generations back, I could be in trouble. I was born while my father was deployed to Germany in the aftermath of WW2. So I have a German birth certificate. Uh-oh.

Yeah. Before DOGE my feelings about Musk were sort of meh, he’s an asshole billionaire no worse than any other, and SpaceX is pretty cool. Now, though, it’s the burning hate of a thousand Rocketdyne F-1 engines.
I lived in a Palo Alto Eichler for 20 years and loved it. Fun fact, the radiant heating in the concrete slab is NOT an upgrade, it’s a standard feature, though for a while they used galvanized pipe that tends to corrode and fail; ours used copper piping and still worked into the 21st century.

Yes. I went through the Summer Science Program in Ojai, California (SSP ‘70 represent!) and wanted to be an astrophysicist. I took some astronomy-related courses in college but somehow wound up with a Computer Science degree.
I think they post at midnight EST so those of us west of NYC can watch them Thursday evening.
I figured out that (apparently) new episodes drop at midnight East Coast time, so I can watch the new one at 9PM on Thursday. Yay!
Now i have to go to some cons to see the Murderbot (and Sanctuary Moon) cosplay!

Our oak trees had a banner year, dropping more acorns than ever. There are so many on the gravel driveway that it’s half acorn now. Our car has numerous dents from the acorns falling on it. Anyone want a s-load of acorns?

Duolingo did the same thing to me for French. I took seven years of it. I read Le Monde and Flaubert. But no, that damn owl started me at “La plume de ma tante est sur la table.” Grr.
I remembered doing that in a couple of countries. I was kind of amazed that while they had all the same stuff as we did, it was all *different* stuff. Like there was toothpaste, but it was all brands I had never heard of. So cool.
Pretty much everyone since Homer, or, hell, Gilgamesh, has been recombining tropes to appeal to their audience. It’s kind of what art *is*. For example, James Joyce’s ULYSSES is a brilliant remix of Homer.

So I do the towels and there are nine different sizes of rectangles to fold, between bath towels, beach towels, hand towels, washcloths, shop towels, kitchen towels, the other size kitchen towels, the microfiber laptop cloths, …. ARGH.
I still have painful memories of the orthodontist taking an impression of my upper teeth, with a material with “bubblegum” flavor, which squeezed out of the back of the mold onto my palate and nearly made me vomit. *shudder*

Today I learned that the Murderbot TV series exists and has gotten as far as principal photography and I’m very happy.
After my new lenses, I’ve found that while I no longer NEED to wear glasses to drive (my license even says so), I LIKE to wear some progressive lenses with a reading strength on the bottom so I can still read the gauges.

Watch Duty is awesome! It was reassuring when it reported that the fire less than a mile from my house was under 1/4 acre and controlled within fifteen minutes of the crews arriving on scene.

Peeve of the day: Magazines (remember those?) that send you subscription renewal requests but don’t tell you WHEN your subscription actually expires. In the olden times the expiration date was shown clearly on the mailing label. I’m sure it still is but now it’s encoded so I can’t read it. Grump.
