Nobody cared WHY we wanted that. They just either knew we were stupid or flat did not care at all bc they were far too busy working. All opposition was couched in sheer misogyny and patriarchy, just like L&D itself. Nobody ASKED. We were told not to “judge” each other by fucking GERBER, then.
The abuse & neglect they had often endured IN those institutions, the first time, were the reason they wanted to access real care via midwives instead of assembly lines & nigh guaranteed traumatic emergency surgery after abuse they often couldn’t even articulate, bc they Did What They Were Told.
