Let's remember that a significant cause of these wildfires is the consumption of oil & gas. Oil and gas production account for 15% of CO2 emissions, while their consumption contributes to 40% of emissions. Is the O&G industry on the Prairies worth Northern destruction?

So we're trying to reduce the 15% of emissions... But what about the product (O&G)? It is responsible for an additional 40% of total emissions and, I assume, will not be "decarbonized".

What is meant by decarbonization? According to Gemini, it's the removal of CO2 from the production of Oil&Gas, the "scope 1 & 2 emissions" using Mark Carney's language. That's 15% of total energy-related greenhouse gas emissions.
