Prophecy foreshadowing: Prophecy foreshadowing usually incorporates an unclear declaration about the future that only makes sense in retrospect. This form of foreshadowing often includes a comment or claim that doesn’t sound like a prophecy at the time but turns out to be with hindsight.

Fallacy foreshadowing: Fallacy foreshadowing is a technique used by writers to suggest to their reader that their story will go in a particular direction when it eventually goes in a different direction entirely. Fallacy foreshadowing is often understood as a "red herring"

Overt Foreshadowing: Overt foreshadowing is a good tool to build suspense, although it should be used sparingly. It openly hints at an impending trial or problem, casting a clear shadow before the event and baiting readers with just enough information to keep them devouring the story.
