I work in pharma, and Americans have no idea how many potential cures are at companies that have no revenue. The whole company exists because of government funding or a single round of private investment. Small biotechs are teetering on the edge of shutting down, and then those drugs are gone.

I would also add the educated and intelligent I have a chronic life threatening illness and then acute infections. Doctors didn't do anything appropriate without me demanding it and even then I was lucky. Eugenics and indifference would have killed me if I didn't know what I was doing
