If I were a Senator, all my questions for RFK Jr. would've been about steroids. -How long have you used steroids? -Come on, who are you kidding. Is it HGH? -When was your last drug test? -Have your testicles shrunk from steroid use? -What meds did you use to prevent shrunken testicles from steroids?

My ultimate guess is, they thought they could pass off callous laziness in the name of competitive advantage, as funny as that premise sounds today.

I understand we’re supposed to forgive pettiness when it comes to competitive edge, and we wouldn’t be talking about this if the game actually was close. I genuinely hope the people with power to decide were more clear eyed about whether being petty was going to eke us out a win today.

There's a real disconnect between the heroic image that industries prop up for marketing purposes and the sad reality of their consumers. Kyoichi Tsuzuki's book "Happy Victims" shows the real lives of people who buy high-end designer clothes. I see a similar issue with guns.

A person laying on their bed while surrounded by clothes. A person in a cramped room full of purses and shoes. A woman's closet full of clothes. Three people in a room full of clothes.

AI Boosters live in vagueness - so force them to get specific. Don't accept them suggesting *you* need to work out why ChatGPT is good: we buy software for its utility! We are the customer! *Make them explain themselves in detail!* www.wheresyoured.at/how-to-argue...

AI Boosters Live In Vagueness — Make Them Get Specific Fundamentally, these people exist in the land of the vague. They will drag you toward what's just on the horizon, but never quite define what the thing that dazzles you will be, or when it will arrive. Really, their argument comes down to one thought: you must get on board now, because at some point it'll be so good you'll feel stupid for not believing something that kind of sucks wouldn't be really good. If this line sounds familiar, it’s because you’ve heard it a million times before, most notably with crypto. They will make you define what would impress you, which isn't your job, in the same way finding a use case for them isn't your job. In fact, you are the customer! BOOSTER QUIP: “You Just Don’t Get It” Here’s a great place to start: say “that’s a really weird thing to say!” It is peculiar to suggest that somebody doesn’t get how to use a product, and that we, as the customer, must justify ourselves to our own purchases. Make them justify their attitude. Just like any product, we buy software to serve a need. This is meant to be artificial *intelligence* — why is it so fucking stupid that I have to work out why it's useful? The answer, of course, is that it has no intellect, is not intelligent, and Large Language Models are being pushed up a mountain by a cadre of people who are either easily impressed or invested — either emotionally or financially — in its success due to the company they keep or their intentions for the world. If a booster suggests you “just don’t get it,” ask them to explain: What you are missing. What, specifically, it is that is so life-changing about this product, based on your own experience, not on anecdotes from others. What use cases are truly “transformative” about AI. Their use cases will likely be that AI has replaced search for them, that they use it for brainstorming or journaling, proof-reading an article, or looking through a big pile of their notes (or some other corpus of information) and summarizing it or pulling out insights.

Here's how NYT explained that TRUMP'S FUCKING DEFENSE ATTORNEY went to meet the sex trafficker who "stole" his spa girls, turning one into a sex slave. No mention of his name, no mention of his role as defense attorney, no mention that sex traffickers don't go to prison camps.

Seeking to quell the backlash, the Justice Department dispatched a top official to meet with Ghislaine Maxwell, Mr. Epstein’s longtime associate who is serving a 20-year prison sentence for sex trafficking. On Friday, Ms. Maxwell was moved to a lower-security facility. That fueled speculation that Mr. Trump might commute her sentence or even pardon her in return for her cooperation.

Take as an example Dick Durbin's letter revealing that Bondi assigned ONE THOUSAND people to review Epstein files, working 24-hour shifts. This is devastating whistleblower testimony. James Comer builds years long campaigns off less. www.judiciary.senate.gov/imo/media/do...

According to information my office received, *you then pressured the FBI to put approximately 1,000 personnel* in its Information Management Division (IMD), including the Record/Information Dissemination Section (RIDS), which handles all requests submitted by the public under the Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) and Privacy Act, *on 24-hour shifts to review approximately 100,000 Epstein-related records in order to produce more documents that could then be released on an arbitrarily short deadline. This effort, which reportedly took place from March 14 through the end of March,* was haphazardly supplemented by hundreds of FBI New York Field Office personnel, many of whom lacked the expertise to identify statutorilyprotected information regarding child victims and child witnesses or properly handle FOIA requests. *My office was told that these personnel were instructed to “flag” any records in which President Trump was mentioned.* Notably, in 2002, Mr. Trump said of Mr. Epstein, “I’ve known Jeff for 15 years. Terrific guy, He’s a lot of fun to be with. It is even said that he likes beautiful women as much as I do, and many of them are on the younger side.”7 Just yesterday, it was reported that the Department previously reviewed a “leather-bound album” comprised of dozens of letters from Mr. Epstein’s friends in celebration of his 50th birthday in 2003.8 The letters were collected by Mr. Epstein’s partner Ghislaine Maxwell and included one from President Trump that allegedly “contains several lines of typewritten text framed by the outline of a naked woman, which appears to be hand-drawn with a heavy marker … and the future president’s signature is a squiggly ‘Donald’ below her waist.”9

I learned a lot at the elite institutions I attended (despite being Asian and poor). I loved my education. But once I was at Harvard I could no longer avoid the reality that the quality of pedagogy was not the important part, it was the proximity to power that I was locked out of by virtue of birth

If the Washington Post's new opinion editor is "Advocating for free markets and personal liberties", will it include scrutiny of Amazon's monopoly + data surveillance of customers? Probably not, because they're not free market, and they don't care about personal liberty. Orwellian corporate-think.

About that record-high share of Americans saying immigration is good for the country: The surge is primarily driven by *Republicans* changing their tune. Rs have become much more positive on immigration than they had been before Trump took office.

In my opinion, the real problem is that no one has even really tried to organize a boycott of X. Certainly, no organizations, coalitions, or national leaders have attempted to lead a boycott. From where I sit, it feels like a failure of the progressive movement across the board.

honestly if there is any single idea i could get people to understand it is this one. or to put it differently, the same features of the american party system that allows a mamdani to win a prize like the NYC mayoral primary also makes any top down control or disciplining very difficult

it's a testament to how american political parties are less some set of structures and institutions than they are the totality of public perception, media coverage and casual impressions
