I'm not a parent, but with how often school shootings occur, when I do have a kid, I would want them to have contact with the outside world. You can give your kid a phone that only makes calls during certain times of the day and can restrict the people the phone can contact.

The problem is really only visible when you are pushed to the fringes. Both parties at the congressional level are basically the same. The Overton window has shifted so far that then things Dems fought for 50 years ago are now up for reconsideration. Republican goals also enrich Dems in office.

As a trans person, it would be dangerous for me to expect the Democrats as they are to do anything to protect my rights. It's just a conversation that goes against the status quo and so people like myself are thrown under the bus repeatedly, while being expected to fall in line come November.

It's been decided by our society that it's illegal to shout the word fire or bomb in a crowded building. It causes unnecessary panic and leads to injury and harm. But the 1st amendment still stands. It is possible for us as a society to reduce harm by restricting the actions that cause harm.
The leap in logic one has to make to bridge, "Our society has accepted that rights need some limitations to reduce farm" to "this lady is a trump loving fascist" is larger than the grand canyon long ways. I'll give an example in my next post

You don't have to give up a righr, by accepting that putting some limitations on our rights may be needed to keep our society going. Misinformation is destroying the country and you won't have the first amendment if there is no country to enforce it.
The sticky and difficult solution is to make the risks associated with peddling misinformation, outweigh the financial benefits that they stand to gain. We'd have to be willing to have a talk about freedom of speech, that we aren't really ready for yet.

My first vegan dish, was one that played to vegan food strengths and did it's own thing, wholly different to what was out there, and while it triggered my food problem, it wasn't bad for what it was.
So... As for what worked for me and pushed me to make changes, was that I was shown positive reasons that were beneficial to me specifically that got to making positive changes. It sounds selfish but, it's really easy to get into your own head and stop seeing outside the routine
Same with animal testing. Our paychecks are allocated to the penny on necessities to survive and often times there is no wiggle room to look at products with no animal testing. I don't enjoy doing it, but currently any alternative to my lifestyle would put my ability to live at risk.
Well sure. Leather is abrasive and I don't enjoy the texture so I don't buy it. As for wool, well I am very financially limited due to caring for a disabled wife and being in a corporate job that doesn't pay great. So all my clothes are second hand and I often don't have the luxury to ask.
I've wanted to expand my palette and range for decades but puking to near pass out the moment something I can't eat touches my tongue is something I try to avoid. Maybe someday I will find vegan dishes that avoid those triggers but I haven't had luck yet.
I'm currently not a vegan, but not for lack of trying. I unfortunately have a tongue hypersensitivity and some allergies. There are foods and textures that induce a violent biological reaction. There are things my body needs to survive that due to these restrictions I cannot get being vegan.
