News has *always* had bias of some sort. The idea that once this was a land of completely fair, balanced, nuanced and always honest for golly gee sure news is a fucking myth. There's a reason the phrase "yellow journalism" dates back a couple of centuries.
You'd have to fix the culture that loves hearing the news they way they want to hear it, that corresponds to and reinforces what they already believe. So for all intents and purposes, if you take the guns away (It's the guns!!!) you cut down on the death BUT you still have to address the root cause and that won't ever happen so long as half the people deny that it's a problem, and half can't articulate the problem and both only care when . . .
The gun makes it easier to flip that switch to kill and to do more lethal damage in the same amount of time. If you have access to firearms, you don't have to be quite as determined to deal out some death. A simple notion is much easier to act on with firearm access. BUT that's still the people. . .
The guns just make it way easier to do the killing. They're a force multiplier. Someone who truly wants to do some killing will do so with whatever weapon they can put hands on. That's why mass stabbing events are also a thing. But that takes a lot more work and tends to leave fewer fatalities. . .
But the simple fact is, it's NOT the guns. It's the people, it's the culture, it's anger, rage, mental health and all kinds of shit in different cases and different combinations but the guns aren't making anyone go out and do murder. The guns are not a cursed object from the Curious Goods vault. . .

Any time there is a mass shooting, it's a tragedy for sure, but it also highlights issues everyone on the sides have with fixing problems. On one side, you've got people who have no interest in addressing the problem, because of ideology or financial influence or other reasons. The right wing. . .
