Del Toro does strike me as uniquely suited to do good things with this work. At a minimum, I'm confident it will be beautiful.
Honestly, this outcome would cause me to reevaluate my position on karma.
Not only is no one going to do that, but I suspect the taxpayers will end up eating the cost of environmental restoration, which will ALSO be a boondoggle used to privatize more public funds.
A surprising percentage of these projects are just a combination of embezzlement and money laundering. Frequently, I don't think they care if the underlying project happens or not. That part mostly optics to fire up the base and keep critics focused on the wrong things.

I don't especially see him as "Hitler reincarnated" and aside from the last couple years, their trajectories aren't that similar. But, Trump IS driven by an insecurity that he was never properly accepted or respected and that has led them to some similar places.
