THANK YOU! Some AI pimp on LinkedIn (I know, I know) made an argument about "resistance never improving education," to which I countered with desegregation. When he said he was talking about technology, I told him I was, too, that desegregation WAS an educational technology (among other things).
Michael Bazemore (@deepwatermike.bsky.social)
Is it ok or accurate to describe segregation and desegregatuon as technologies? Of oppression and liberation, certainly, but also, inter alia, as EDUCATIONAL technology technologies?

Yeah. Some people like to think of the Church (which was heavily involved in the universities) as heavy-handed. It occasionally WAS, but on a local basis. For the most part, though, you were free to speculate as long as you didn't claim your speculations were true without evidence. 1/

Galileo didn't go on trial for teaching heliocentrism. He went on trial for teaching heliocentrism as FACT (which he could NOT bloody well prove). Also, for being an asshole.

As my late, revered laoshi LaoMa said, once you learn the sequence of posture, you begin studying taijiquan. I'm increasingly convinced that taijiquan is NOT in the postures, but in the transitions. The postures ISSUE FROM the transitions. They are merely what happens between them. 4/

...between the postures, which you can think of as the moment something "big" happens. We call this in-between movement "transitions," but really it's narrative. Beginning students focus on postures and choreography. But all of that follows the transitions, the narrative. 3/

Ok. You haven't asked for it, but here comes more taijiquan. Because I'm going to think about it with y'all. This will come as it comes. In the quoted post, I mentioned postures. A posture represents the martial application of a technique (even if, like me, you aren't studying... 1/

If you want Alan Moore in a lighter vein, seek out "Top 10." It's about science-hero (superhero in the world of AM's America's Best Comics) cops in a city where everyone is a science hero. Only 12 issues and a standalone hardcover ("The Forty-Niners"). Ignore follow-ups.

These are not contradictory. American freedom, as the 2A types (like many of the Framers), understand it is not for everyone. To them the real tyranny is having to treat Black people, Brown people, women, LGBTQIA+ people, etc., as full citizens. Their freedom REQUIRES others' oppression.
