Very nice top two selections. What are the two inks you are using?
It's a piston filler rather than a traditional cartridge/converter type setup. And being a demonstrator (ie. clear body) makes it easy (and cool IMO) to see the ink and the filling mechanism of the fountain pen.

Lots of different nib sizes available to fit you needs. "Thickness" may also be a factor of the paper.

I have four of them :) .. super reliable writers, always have at least one or two inked up and in rotation. I prefer the nib for my fountain pens.
Just checked US Amazon for Preras, prices seem $10 higher than just a few weeks ago - might be the tariffs kicking in :-/ The E95s is one of my most expensive pens - but it was a great deal, zero regrets. Such an elegant design.
I'm a big fan of the Prera - the best snap cap E-V-E-R. Can be had for low $20s. I also have a few Metropolitans and Kakunos. They all use the same nib, though the Kakuno has those fun faces engraved. My only gold nib is the E95s which I bought for $70 when the US$/Yen exchange rate was favorable.
Agree, it's not huge, but I find that refilling cartridges works fine for me (but I also have several other pens in rotation so I can always switch). Even the much maligned CON40 (though definite room for improvement) works fine for me if syringe filled, but the capacity is less than a cartridge
You could try this search on google "reddit jinhao 10 drying out" .. lots of posts. Essentially, the "trick" from the video is to dab some silicone grease around the trap door to help seal it better.

Yes, these are super for taking quick notes. I have a week of (mostly pointless) meetings/workshops starting tomorrow before the fall semester starts. Definitely will be taking some of my fountain pens with me too (definitely a Prera in the mix too).

Big fan and user of Iroshizuku inks .. I usually use Kon Peki as my testing ink to eliminate the ink from the equation. In the past I've also used Aurora Black in the same way, very wet and well behaved.

Also would be hesitant to put them into a shirt pocket given the nib would be hanging down and you'd be depending on a 100% secure sealing mechanism. Still looking forward to checking it out and ready to be pleasantly surprised.
I've been meaning to pick up one of these, so fun, but they always seem to come in sets of 5 or more, and I don't need/want that many :) - even if the set is cheap. Just have to keep my eyes open for these I guess.
Thanks. Yes, I watched three quick reviews on YT and they all made some comments along those lines, but all were amazed how well it wrote & sealed. Worth a try at the price. It's marketed as a kid's pen, so I'm not expecting too much-hence my goal to the the J10 working ideally. Love that Pearl Blue

Ordered a black one :) .. I can always refill cartridges, especially since it comes with 4 of them. Sort of interesting the pen hangs downward, bit more risk if the door doesn't seal (hence the design of the clip with the A1/VP/J10. But for $10 it's worth trying it out - thanks for the tip.

These are great fountain pens for taking quick notes (if only they would work reliably as a writer). Maybe time to save up for a Pilot capless (w/ a steel nib, not sure I can afford/justify the gold nib)
Any Jinhao 10 users? While fit and finish are great (Pearl Blue is gorgeous), the nib and/or sealing mechanism has been very disappointing. I recently got a 2nd one, now available in , but still dries out/hard starts. Mahjon A1 has been marginally better. Anyone have similar experiences?
