Actually, no! I had an exchange with someone who disagreed with me initially (about Gavin Newsom of all things), but after I explained my position he said 'thanks, that changed my mind, appreciate the info' and we wished each other well! It actually happens sometimes! Also I have a cat on my lap.

I think the stress of the fascism is ratcheting up on everyone and we're taking out on the folks within reach even though they're often not the bad guys. We can't strike at the people we want so we strike at the ones we can in order to feel agency. Not good, very human.
When I think about it, I have to admit that the books I tend to recommend to others are mostly by folks who as far as I know identify as women. Supporting Newsom =/= supporting Democrats. He is not in himself the totality of the Democratic party. I can oppose his candidacy because I DO NOT BELIEVE HE WOULD WIN. Creating issues to split off D voters? We can refuse to be split by not taking the bait and abandoning LGBTQ folk. Problem solved.
Newsom's already BEEN restricting the rights of LGBTQ folk in California and by no means is he "the only alternative" to a R candidate. He's not viable as a national candidate. He can't win. When you insist he's our only hope, you're supporting losing to Trump.
