He never pressured LA Children's Hospital to end transgender care. That was Trump threatening to pull federal funding. In fact Newsome and the Attorney General Bonta have taken legal action to protect such care. They have also designated California a Sanctuary State for the transgender community.
He questioned the fairness of trans people competing in sports. He doesn't oppose healthcare for trans minors. He vetoed a bill that would fast-track the licensing of healthcare professionals to provide gender-affirming care saying in effect, the efficacy of the process needs to be studied more.
He signed other pro-LGBTQ bills, one which ensures the legality of IVF in that community and one that makes California a refuge for transgender healthcare. I'm confused about his mixed messaging but I certainly support his efforts to counteract what Texas and other red states are doing.
He vetoed a family leave bill for public employees explaining that it should be handled in collective bargaining. He vetoed a measure which expedites the licensing of healthcare professionals who provide gender-affirming care. He maintains more time is needed to determine efficacy of such programs.
I'm talking about the trolls on this comment section who go right after Newsome's alleged transphobia and have nothing to say about the subject of the post. There's much to disagree with Newsome about, but he's right on gerrymandering IMO.

The nomination process is complicated and political. It’s not a straightforward democratic vote. If you were around in 1968, you’d be even more pissed off.

I was talking about Dean who eventually chaired the DNC, so… different subject entirely. BTW, Clinton had 3 million votes more than Bernie and was an actual Democrat so I understand why the DNC supported her. I personally voted for Bernie but I don’t think he had a chance in the general election.
