I question whether the value of the 80% is outweighed by the harm of the 20%. Whilst it's still in positive territory for me, I know no other likely governing party gets close to even a 50/50 split of value versus harm.

He is emblematic of some people who generally support managed immigration but who have swallowed, and regurgitate, the narrative of Farage and co. It's a Gov failure over communication. He should also be held to the same impartiality rules as the many forced out of the BBC from the political centre

He has a good record in persuading people to vote against their own interests. The groundwork on leaving the EHCR has been a long process. People now see it as a single right protecting people they have been told are 'illegal' from being ejected from '5 star Hotels' that they are paying for.

Ged (@gedparker.bsky.social) reply parent
It's not like they are using it for offering up arguments that will persuade habitual users of the merits of their policy positions. They are directing people to a platform where the majority of contributions are working against the government's interests. Dumb, just dumb.

In years to come, historians are going to have such fun destroying any creditability Trump hasn't destroyed himself by then. What they'll make of the American people gets bleaker every day they allow Trump's presidency to roll on unchecked.

It's capitalism rather than Americanisation in my view. There's too much money in the game and too many live games on TV (because of the money it brings in) I say these things as a life long Man City fan. Money is destroying the game. It's no longer a game for the working class.
