It is likely that the episode will be remembered more for the couthless lout than for anything about you. Until they died, my parents laughed about this roughneck customer from my Dad’s restaurant who, observing the regrettable behavior of another customer, said, “Dat guy ain’t got no couth.”

I’m at ALI’s Annual Meeting. During yesterday’s CLE on Generative AI, I decided to experiment by asking AI a question about an issue I’ll be addressing soon in an upcoming argument. It gave me an authoritative and exactly-on-point quote from a Restatement. One problem: It wasn’t in the Restatement.

This morning at Dept of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) HQ in DC as mandatory return to office began, this video played on loop for ~5 mins on screens throughout the building, per agency source. Building staff couldn’t figure out how to turn it off so sent people to every floor to unplug TVs.

We’ve done this for years at @iumaurerlaw.bsky.social. I don’t just mean through my and others’ adjunct professorates. We have a Practitioner-in-Residence program that provides these opportunities for students. Any school committed to the law & society tradition should do that.

Right. I have a transgender kid. 15. No medical treatments currently on the horizon. But I’ll be damned if a bunch of elected yahoos (particularly since I suspect—read *know*—that they’re interested in demonizing, not protecting, my kid) should have that decisional power instead of my wife and me.
