No, I don’t think so. He’s smarter, but he doesn’t have the cult appeal. The GOP isn’t afraid of him. Fox isn’t afraid of him. He would likely be a multiple year lame duck. He also doesn’t agree with Trump’s tariffs, so I would think trade would become somewhat normal again.

The biggest immediate concern is that it makes US ships abroad targets. What happens when we start seeing China/Russia/Iran blow us civilian ships out of the water under the guise of them being ‘macro-terrorism vessels’ I’m not saying that’s what happened here, but it sets a dangerous precedent.

I do think the DNC has to stop treating new progressives like the plague, yes. But there has to be a give and take there, too - Progressives have to understand that they can’t just badmouth ‘normie’ Dems at will. We’re all on the same side and need to act like it.

There are a lot of concerns about Trump’s mental state. Multiple people on the Hill are complaining about their lack of access to Trump and that his handlers are keeping him insulated. He goes off script when they do talk. Basically everything the books accused Biden’s team of doing.
I think so, yes. The biggest thing about protesting en mass like we are is that it reminds people that we aren’t 1939 Germany. There’s a large, organized social and political resistance to this regime, and the message is clear: We aren’t going to sleepwalk into a dictatorship.
