I've been on the lookout for Monarch caterpillars all summer but haven't had much luck. I finally found some this weekend. This one appears to have completely devoured the milkweed plant it was on, leaving only the stalk. #macrophotography #invertebrate #butterfly #PhotographersUnited
Thanks, Marv! I think I'm pretty much fully recovered. We caught it quickly. I did notice that I seemed to be getting worn down more quickly when hiking in higher temps, but that has seemed to settle down. Other than that, I haven't noticed any other side effects, thankfully.

I really like how you framed the photo. Looking through my macro photos, I realized that I always try to incorporate the entire flower, or just a small portion of it. You struck a great balance.

It’s GRACKLEPALOOZA time again! We have a few in the yard throughout the summer, but as migration approaches, they multiply! There are probably at least 100 here at times and it will increase! This male Common Grackle is almost done his moult and thinks he shouldn’t be named “common”! #Birds 🪶
Gracklepalooza continues with a lot of chaos and chatter. We love it, and we’re not the only ones. Our neighbourhood Merlins are keeping a close eye on things and frequently come through hunting runs. This Merlin was unsuccessful this time around. #Birds #photography #wildlife 🪶

I'd love a chance to photograph a tidal area like this. I think it would be an interesting challenge to try to find a composition, and then see those change regularly.

That's a great photo, Wolfgang. There must be some haze in the air. The highlights are giving this luminosity glow that almost makes it look like it's an IR photo.
Indeed, they are! Annoyingly, I've dislocated my other kneecap 3 times. This one had any injuries, that I'm aware of, but I think a lifetime of compensating for the other leg just took its toll.
Looks like a fantastic morning! I know the knee feeling. I was having a lot of issues over the past few years. Finally had a torn meniscus repaired this winter and I've been able to do a lot more.

Great photos, Dave! The White-Breasted are ubiquitous here year-round. We don't normally see the Red-Breasted in my area, except maybe the very heart of winter. I usually have to go north, or more east into the Minnesota forest to see them.

I was quite far away when I first spotted it swimming, and wasn’t sure what it was. But it kept swimming closer! Soras are good swimmers, but when it came to a partially submerged log, it climbed right up. Swimming is ok, but these big feet were made for walking! #Birds #photography #wildlife 🪶

I see them a lot along the rivers, but usually just flying away. I almost never get close to them perched.
This is the first time I’ve been able to get close to one in decent light. I popped down on the bank from behind some trees and it was just downriver from me. It stayed there just long enough to get a couple of shots.
