To every guy who is reading my recent post and saying they are sorry. If you find out your friends are harassing someone, being shady, or acting in this way and you don’t call them out - confront them - and hold them accountable then… You are a part of the problem. Do better.
There is a lot i think and feel about all of this, anger obviously being a big part of it. After formal action has been taken i am considering publicly exposing this person. Some men are so disgustingly entitled and possess such delusional ideas of grandiosity and audacity it is astounding.
If you see me alone at events for the rest of the year, this is a huge factor in that decision. My trust was already shaken, betrayal of this scale is hard to overcome and process.
The scope of their behavior had become known after they were let go. This was after months of trying to work through performance and behavioral issues. I confronted them and told them to never contact me or use my name again, and that I saw who they are. This blatant theft is how they responded.
I struggle to air my drama online, privacy is important to me. This case is a violation of the many years of hard work i have done professionally, my name, and is a personal violation as they let people believe for years we were dating. This is also untrue and demeaning.
They are actively applying for creative and visual roles with my stolen work and a comically inflated job title of Operations Head of my company. I don’t think this person should get away with this, period. I am waiting for formal papers to be sent, and working through my feelings on the matter.
Last week I discovered a former assistant has over 20 pieces of my art included in his portfolio, including client work, many photographs, and claims that he designed my most recent book. I have already engaged an attorney.

In general a 70/30 split makes much more sense to me, especially since the artist is already fronting a lot in many cases. I do not think there is any reason for any gallery that is not producing prints to take more than 30%
Ah! Yeah i am familiar with OAC and have been to a few shows. The model is alright, i sway between thinking application fees are alright, it usually depends on the gallery model. OAC does alright to my knowledge, but I haven’t been in a show yet to have the experience i do with others.

Hot take: galleries putting on group shows should not ask for 50%+ from artists. Period

Honestly though, if you find yourself questioning why an artist you love stopped working with or engaging in a particular scene, there is always a reason and the artist is not a stand alone voice with a unique experience. Ever. Just saying ✨

My cats hide when they are upset. Me playing with them and engaging them in open spaces is more important than just giving them catnip. Showing them it is safe allows them to enjoy the catnip. I don't believe in just giving them something and leaving them to their own devices in stressful times.
Apperently people are in the park across the street from my apartment aiming fireworks at cars. Happy f*cking 4th
To try to distract my kitties with all the insanity that is hundreds of fireworks going off I have given them catnip and we are playing in their favorite easy enrichment structure- canvas storage cubes. All of them have a blast and I rebuild them daily. Crazy versatile and amusing.
Ah, yes, the sounds of people killing birds for fun so they can celebrate a country sliding into dictatorship. 🙄 But ya know, poisoning the sky and terrifying hundreds of thousands of animals is totally worth it and justified.
