I'm not saying transgender athletes can never compete. IOC says it's a sport-by-sport decision. And if the trans athlete can't meet the criteria for the category, they should be permitted to compete in the other category. Otherwise why have categories at all.
In some sports, where natural born size is a huge advantage, the sports body created weight classes. Boxing, wrestling, martial arts & rowing. If you can't make weight you compete in the top category. They created categories specifically to allow smaller people to compete. Similar to women's sports.
No, born advantages aren't unfair. Even the IOC, which sets general parameters (while individual sports regulate participation), sets a standard for using a science-based approach for transgender. Currently, some sports limit it based on going through male puberty, not based on height.

I read it. The abstract argues for inclusion for intersex, but does mention fairness. I don't think any article argues against inclusion per se. Many discuss the conditions for participation. I'm not saying trans women should not compete -- I'm saying the issue needs to be addressed by each sport.

Also, the IOC has testosterone standards, while asking each sport to come up with their own standards. And weightlifting has a limit requiring transitioning before puberty. So it does not seem settled at the Olympics. In all, I agree sports, not politicians, should deal with this.

Money has control, for sure. But the policies being meted out on a daily basis are much, much different. We have become a police state, ignoring due process, prohibiting lawful immigration, including abandoning our allies from Afghanistan, etc. We even stopped visas for families of injured kids.
