Sitting in the school parking lot waiting for the dropoff chaos to resolve. Overhear a mom casually cussing her child and then tells him to watch his mouth when he says something smart. America makes me sad a lot. Poor kid.

I became a reporter because I wanted to fight for justice and truth, I was quickly disillusioned, and never OK with staying impartial. But I miss the days when America saw them as heroes. Clark Kent was a reporter.
So, I'm not at all surprised corporate media is completely useless at this point. Most of the people who can resist are already fired or quit. (IMO)
...and a lot of talented, dedicated writers and editors had to find new ways to make a living as slimmed down publications relied on wires stories and college freelancers. A photog friend finally quit as the racism and abuse got worse and worse...
Ex-newspaper reporter here. I was in the room when we first tried to integrate the internet into the biz. Got out just before 9/11. Then came the war on media aka Fake News era. A lot of real journalists left the business, esp PoC and other marginalized peeps. Big papers ate little papers...

There is currently some food stupidity trending. News flash: foods can belong to more than one culture at the same time. In fact, many cuisines are the product of indigenous dishes tweaked by generations of colonial occupation. Food, like art, is an agent for change. This is dumb. Stahp.
I think those are incredible and if it wasn't for the American Struggle and tariffs, I would buy one. Holy moly.

I definitely rely on my pasta machine. Mostly for getting the dough into a workable state. A lot of the Chinese noodle recipes I have tried start out as very tough doughs. I prefer the machine over a rolling pin, but I am also an eternal child and I like turning the crank.
It was good, but not my best. The Dan Dan noodles and hot sesame dumplings are pretty amazeballs. But chewy noodles are always comforting.
You should be at a noodle shop or some grandma's kitchen table, slurping goodness. It's what you deserve. Break free! Pull a Footloose and dance everyone toward Asian foods!

Thank you! The noodles are just bread flour, salt and water. I threw the sauce together: sesame oil, broad bean paste, garlic, brown sugar, peanut butter (I was out of tahini), soy sauce and a splash of sake. Bended and thinned with chik stock. Topped with the crisp to my taste. Plus scallions.
Hand-cut noodles in a sesame peanut sauce with chili crisp and scallions.
Yeah, I thought about clarifying but opted for potential darkness instead. Just plastic skeletons... THIS TIME.

I once made jam out green tomatoes (some French recipe, I think) and couldn't decide whether it was gross or intriguing. Was leaning toward gross but made a lot of people taste it. My brother-in-law thought it was delish on hamburgers, so it did find a forever home.

ONE OF MY BEST MEMORIES: My first concert - David Bowie/Sound & Vision Tour - Jacksonville Coliseum. First time I smelled weed. I only knew Bowie's 80s tunes, but this was full of Ziggy Stardust bangers. The crowd's audible tsunami of AHHH, WHAM BAM THANK YOU, MA'AM, is something I'll never forget.

Took today off to have a four-day weekend and rest-a-thon. Hit the local book mine this morning and bought $200 of great books with store credit. Going to prepare for the fall garden and cook. Supposed to rain. Going to read w/cozy lights and incense.
