I didn’t think measles immunity was lifelong - in the US there are multiple MMRV boosters on the schedule, IIRC. But I could be remembering incorrectly. I think I had my last one at 18 (in the States).

Excellent - NHS *finally* catches up with the rest of the world to offer varicella vax to children. The drug targets both bacterial topo IV and DNA gyrase, inhibiting replication and transcription. In the lab, it’s shown broad-spectrum efficacy for both Gram-positive and -negative organisms. In the EAGLE2/3 trials it was non-inferior to nitrofurantoin with only mild AEs (diarrhoea, nausea).

The KSR book is one of those that stays with you long after you’ve finished. Not necessarily the plot, but the feeling of it. One of the most hopeful books I’ve ever read. It’s hard to describe. Like a blueprint for what could happen, if only there was the will.

Great thread. I teach the so-called reproduceability crisis in my undergraduate lectures and it’s important that people know that it’s hard to repeat stuff due the baked-in variability of science and we build up a picture with time. A small fraction may be fraud though. Just hard to know how much.
