You miss the point. I could kill a child in a freak accident on a bicycle. If I go hill walking I could have an accident risking peoples' lives trying to rescue me. When I played rugby - people occasionally get killed. I think everyone has a different opinion on what level of risk is acceptable.
OK, you all good points and I have no reason to believe you are not good people, but where do you draw the line? What is acceptable risk for people to have a quality of life, because we're becoming so risk averse and boring, I will soon begin to wonder what the hell's the point of living at all!!

Having recently had a liver transplant, I know that in the UK RTAs per annum have fallen DRAMATICALLY, in the last 40 years or so. Let's get a sense of proportion here. There are multiple problems in the world much bigger than this that need sorting first. Climate change, AI in the wrong hands...

Having been in hospital at the height of Covid and with flu. too, I have witnessed the dedication of these people, often short staffed, and quietly discussing their personal challenges at home, planning Christmas with limited finances, caring for loves ones at home after work . Super humans.
Not taking anything away from the nurses, but Drs, Nurses, Healthcare Assistants, Cleaners, Physios, Caterers, Dieticians... BLOODY HEROES - the lot of them!! Working under great stress, with sometimes very challenging ungrateful patients and Guardians, and doubtless their own stresses at home too.
This one hit home for me. 100% endorse it. I am an authority having spent a significant amout of time in hospitals and a "Rehab" Unit over the last 3 years (happily fit now!!) Not wanting to take anything away from Nurses - all you say is true.

How do you professionals keep youself sane when your living is having to listen to miserable od "bar stewards" like me every day of your working life? I think about that every time I have to speak to a pschiatrist/ psychologist. I doubt I would be able to handle that!!! So RESPECT!!
I am leaving it at that, bec. I don't want to bgive negative energy. I do have Hope, that we can retrieve the world and make it an even better place, but to do that, we have to recognise the danger and respond to it robustly.
I consider my generation to be extremely fortunate to have lived through the greatest time in history (those of us not living in war zones or poverty) and we have a duty to protect that for our Grandchildren at a time when the world is in great peril. Most dangerously from those in control of AI.
But I think we need to understand the instincts of people and what drives them, if we are going to begin to make the world a more tolerant, compassionate and peaceful place.
