I think the idea is that we’re versatile even if not optimal for everything so a humanoid robot would be similar. Needing a different robot for every task wouldn’t be efficient in a house, and it can make some assembly lines less versatile.

For me, some of that is the unpredictability. You know the doctor won’t die, at most regenerate and even then only at the end if a season. But will Sally Sparrow survive? Unclear!

For wildfire smoke, if you have central heat putting a smoke-quality filter on the furnace and just running the blower (no heat) does a lot. Probably useful for covid with the right filter, too, but that's harder to test

But also, the screens rotate content while prioritizing station info. I was looking for which social media channels they showed a few days ago and ran out of time on one leg since I thought of it with only a couple mins left. A wait like that isn't ideal for restroom info, imho.

And location detection is not an entirely solved problem. It’s often pretty good but definitely makes mistakes as you get more granular. Country is usually very good, state/province is often correct but not always, and as you get to city it’s a lot more variable.

Stuff in the yard was actually doing ok when I was watering by hand. I have had much worse luck with the irrigation system. But the street trees that we can't do much to are a plausible source of a fungus killing other plants 😭 I don't like my plants dying!

I'm sure there are other tax breaks in there but for higher income people it preserves the otherwise-expiring marginal income tax rates. So things will mostly just seem to stay the same, while prices rise. It's lower vs previous law, but in a way that provides no stimulus.

We saw the Midway in San Diego a few years ago. Definitely worth it. We haven’t yet made it to the Hornet despite there being closer to home but with luck we’ll get there soon!

Yeah, the second point is pretty huge for all uses, even those that seem apolitical like writing code. There has already been malware trying to exploit hallucinated names of dependent projects. That’s just using passive patterns, not trying to manipulate results. And also, yikes!

I usually just attempt to identify the language. Not great at it, but it's often possible to narrow it down a fair amount even without knowing many languages yourself
