Ignorant advocates for rent control have no idea how this all works. They should stay at home living in mom and dad’s basement. Taxes, insurance and inflation are key drivers to rent increases.
Illinois raises property taxes annually and expects landlords to maintain rents. Costs go up, revenue needs to follow. If you don’t pay the taxes, the state will take your home. People need to realize you never own your home. Only renting from the state.
Change of ownership is driving the decision. If they don’t like it then they can find another place to live. State does the same with property taxes. They can charge what they want and if you don’t pay, the state auctions your home. You lose. You need to get out a little bit and grow up.
Where do you think that budget comes from? From the rent. If you own a condo, then every owner pays an HOA fee and part of that is for reserve. Same thing, you do the same with a house.
