I dont actually think the above is true. Expertise in language matters just like any other expertise and it simply means one took the time to actually focus and learn. I respect it. Pretending all things one studies makes one more *intelligent* than other experienced people is another matter.

You need to go to settings and mute our any of the profanity words - it works wonders for blocking the comments of - err - people whose vocabulary is limited. I don't actually care if that just filters out good people too - if they cant control their writing I don't need them.

I bought a 2002 book re Christy Turlington's yoga practice for no other reason than I have pretty much reached my limit on hours I can spend reading books on topics like global finance on which I am, at best, a novice. I have, however, aced standing tree pose. Touch grass. Do some Yoga. Be well.

I dont think that's the point in the debate that I saw. I saw more of - hey, we know what we are talking about & why these terms have meaning. I did not see any moral superiority, just annoyance that they thought their life's work was getting panned, though that's not what was going in my view.

I think it is a nuanced topic that's hard to discuss on social media due to egos. I am pretty sure I understand both sides of the debate pretty well, & it's going to be very hard to get people to agree that one type of expertise has value, but theirs doesn't, in persuading the "common voter folk".
