Not Canadian. New social media, same old personality. An expert in some things. A colossal idiot in most others.

this is an absolutely deranged thing to write

Obviously this is true. But for him to go Trump would have to admit he'd appointed a dangerous crank, and well, that's most of his appointees.

Kennedy is completely addled. How can a democracy with layers of accountability allow such a man to be appointed to such a position?

We just have a huge problem with professional salaries in non-commercial sectors, don't we? Academia is just as bad, and with pensions that are no longer comparable to civil service ones.

A humbling way to think about this for those of us in the medical research sector is that these are essentially legislation as public health interventions, and they've been far more effective than our fancy drugs and technologies in saving lives and improving outcomes...

Yes, the valorisation of unions in a society where union membership and sector representation has decreased. Lads, if you think unions are so important do something to increase membership and perhaps reduce their internal power if they won't or can't broaden membership.

Selfish cars too. To take the children to school we have to cross two residential roads. They're not busy, but if there are cars only about 1 in 2 will stop to let you cross. Half will just blithely drive straight past groups of children and parents without a care or consideration in the world.
LeithMotive (@leithmotive.bsky.social) reply parent
There's a lot more cars than there were, but they now mostly all have crumple zones and automatic braking systems so you are less likely to be hit, and when you are hit it is less likely to result in serious injury. So the problem is too many cars preventing children from playing in the street.

The reason why the Greens should be mocked and humiliated is not because electing hypnotits is funny, but because a party made up of people who believe in magic solutions and crank reasoning are a democratic disaster if they become popular. It's how you get people like RFK Jr to destroy healthcare.

LeithMotive (@leithmotive.bsky.social)
Greens. Cranks from top to bottom now. The reformers have lost to a guy who thinks he can make breasts get bigger through the power of his mind. If you lose to that you have to conclude you were in the wrong party.

The UK, more than most countries, is unusual in that flags have different connotations in different constituent countries.
