We don't need to debate whether racism is bad. We don't need to argue whether undocumented immigrants should be treated humanely. We do not need to respond to policy ideas that are morally and ethically bankrupt. Literally nobody supports this except racists. And racists are bad.
Like, I'm firmly elder millennial and I know *of* Charlie Kirk and his shitty rhetoric but other than a couple of "Charlie Kirk gets owned in debate" shorts that I'm fed every once in a while he occupies approximately zero percent of my brain. Gen Xers probably never heard of him until yesterday.

It's not unspoken at all. The Dems have literally run on the platform of, "If not us, then who? *Them?!*" for most of my adult life. And you know what? A lot of us have internalized it, made it part of our identity. Sacrifice for our country. Vote for the guy that is less worse. I'm so tired of it.

Yep! Popularity used to have a natural friction due to communication platforms. People had to talk about it in person, share things in letters, or even text messages. Now something can become a global phenomenon literally overnight for no reason at all.
I would also point out that if population decline is "such a huge issue" for Republicans, it makes a hell of a lot more sense to let a handful of billionaires leave the city/state/country and try to keep the tens of thousands of working-class residents here instead.

In other words, it is the freedom *to choose what you ought to do*, not *what you want to do*. If your choices amount to a rejection of human rights or the rule of law, or you seek to undermine progress to ensure equality and free and fair elections, you are not practicing democratic freedom.
The underpinnings of *real* freedom are not based on unlimited and/or excessive choice. Strengthening social cohesion requires a consideration of how your actions impact those around you *at a minimum*. Democracy is fundamentally incompatible with selfishness.

We're all in different stages of grief over the death of what our country once was. Weirdly, that might be the only thing that unites us in the near-term, because the way forward looks wildly different depending on the political, social, and even familial context.
Progressives—real progressives—understand this and want to create something new, something better. It doesn't mean we didn't have good ideas before that we can't use again, but the end result was what you see today. It is time to look for something new, and we need a political party to champion it.
The reason all politicians don't want Dems to accept reality is that once you get there, you are more clear-headed; you can see that the thing you were holding onto is dead and gone. Keep us in denial, or keep us angry, or entice us with some false dream of compromise so we keep them in power.

I served in the military, and I knew people that wanted to serve but didn't want to go to war. I understand that. I get the same feeling from almost all Dems right now. They want to serve, and have a genuine desire to help people, but they don't want to go to war. They are not meeting the moment.
