Today I Learned that dysaudia (often referred to as Auditory Processing Disorder) is a real thing, and it's just like dyslexia or dyscalculia, but for voice. I have it, of course, but not the other ones.

funny how you struggle with the “female friends” bit, because I also was in conflict with that at some point but then I just decided that it's normal to use it as adjective “regarding a woman”, so for example some of my female friends are trans women, and that feels to be the simplest solution
others have offered their explanations, but if I may, imagine you looking in the mirror your entire life and seeing a mannequin that looks like you — it's very good, it's incredibly precise, but it's. not. you. and then one day it's gone. there's a person there. it's scary! but also, now it is you.
