After Skrmetti I went to a little same-day rally in a church near the Supreme Court and a couple senators showed up (Markey and Merkley) and promised to remove the medicaid GAC ban from that budget bill and it got removed.

If Newsom becomes the nominee none of us will vote for him, because there would be effectively no difference between him and a Republican for us. We mention it now so you have three years to find a better candidate who can secure our votes.
marshmallowpeep.bsky.social (@marshmallowpeep.bsky.social) reply parent
1) the idea that there are more people who would vote for dems, if only they'd just let trans people be eliminated than there are trans people is delusional. 2) allying with us then throwing us under the bus the minute we started polling bad makes them look much weaker than sticking up for us.

Typing that whole thread about "unity" in service of sacrificing 2.8 million people to appease some imaginary voters who look at what Trump is doing and say "well, this is bad, but we cant allow trans people to have rights" is insane.
marshmallowpeep.bsky.social (@marshmallowpeep.bsky.social) reply parent
You are dramatically underestimating the stakes of this for Trans people. I don't think I would survive a Newsom presidency any better than a Trump one. I don't care about teaching anyone a lesson. If you need my help, you need to help me survive.
marshmallowpeep.bsky.social (@marshmallowpeep.bsky.social) reply parent
If it's down to Newsom or Trump I'm dead either way so if you need my support (and you do) you better make sure it doesn't come to that. I will not sacrifice myself to save you.
marshmallowpeep.bsky.social (@marshmallowpeep.bsky.social) reply parent
Yeah its a good thing you need a filibuster proof majority to make major changes or else we'd be in big trouble right now!
marshmallowpeep.bsky.social (@marshmallowpeep.bsky.social) reply parent
It drives me crazy how people pretend everything to do with trans people is "novel" when it's all been mainsteam for a decade or more.
marshmallowpeep.bsky.social (@marshmallowpeep.bsky.social) reply parent
Rallying behind bad Democrats has been the strategy of the entire response to trumpism, and it has failed over and over and over again. The situation is more dire now but the dynamic is the same. They'll throw us under the bus be soft on the fascists and lose again in a few years.
marshmallowpeep.bsky.social (@marshmallowpeep.bsky.social) reply parent
I *wish* they'd just fucking say that. It's so surreal seeing people talk about my life in terms of "purity testing" and "you can't expect your allies to be perfect." All these weaselly little euphemisms.

I've purchased a book because of the author's bluesky posts. Not like, about the specific book I bought but I was in a store and saw a book and thought "Oh hey I know that name from bluesky" and grabbed it.

Yeah going off spiro made my skin worse but I was having issues from low T so I had to.

Dred Scott said that black people have no rights, this supreme court says no one has any rights.

Around 20 years ago the olympics stopped sex testing athletes because it was deemed too invasive and it was commonly understood that trans women dont have any particular advantage in sports. I wish they were 20 years out of date.
marshmallowpeep.bsky.social (@marshmallowpeep.bsky.social) reply parent
Of course not, you don't care about people's lives you care about feeling superior. Republicans shutting down USAID, which Democrats absolutely would not have done, is going to kill 14 million people but Dems suck on Gaza almost as much as Republicans so I guess there's no difference between them.
marshmallowpeep.bsky.social (@marshmallowpeep.bsky.social) reply parent
That's not an answer to the question I asked. See, you keep veering away from the things I'm actually saying about who has power and how it affects the world and trying to have an entirely different conversation that seems to mostly be about moral condemnation.
marshmallowpeep.bsky.social (@marshmallowpeep.bsky.social) reply parent
Do you truly not think things would be better for both the people being kidnapped by ICE and the heroes fighting to protect them if Dems had won in 2024, despite their shitty rhetoric then and their lack of action now? Like what the fuck point are you trying to make?
marshmallowpeep.bsky.social (@marshmallowpeep.bsky.social) reply parent
Anti-democrat leftists. Buzzwords like community and local orgs and mutual aid explicitly divorced from any attempt at influencing institutional power. What does that look like? I cant even imagine it. It sounds like taking shady E from unknown sources and maybe hiding from ICE in attics to me.
marshmallowpeep.bsky.social (@marshmallowpeep.bsky.social) reply parent
*You* brought up rights. I pointed out that those rights depended on having people in power willing to grant us concessions. I'm not talking about credit im talking about reality. You people are so insistent on living in this fantasy land where the power of the state is simply irrelevant
marshmallowpeep.bsky.social (@marshmallowpeep.bsky.social) reply parent
No, I really dont. I've more prayers come true than local orgs doing things without any involvement from institutional power in my life. The rights we have today were passed into law by democrats, so giving up on the dems seems kind of fundamentally at odds with those rights.
marshmallowpeep.bsky.social (@marshmallowpeep.bsky.social) reply parent
No you're telling me to give up you're just so disconnected from my life you don't even know that. When you people talk about local organizations it feels like when Christians talk to me about the power of prayer.
marshmallowpeep.bsky.social (@marshmallowpeep.bsky.social) reply parent
I'd like to see that too but people constantly overstating how much the people I'm relying on to protect me actually want to kill me is pretty stressful. Like, I can't flee the country. If you're right and they *all* want to see me dead then I guess I'm just dead and I don't want to give up.
marshmallowpeep.bsky.social (@marshmallowpeep.bsky.social) reply parent
Democrats took the "no medicaid for gender affirming care" out of the stupid budget bill, voted against a nationwide sports ban and many democrat run states have passed legislation to protect us in various ways. Some talk about wanting to abandon us but many don't, and they haven't yet.

Was the respect for marriage act in 2022 not codifying gay marriage?

It seems logically impossible that reducing suicidal ideation wouldn't also reduce suicide rate.
marshmallowpeep.bsky.social (@marshmallowpeep.bsky.social) reply parent
"Let the right change public opinion with propaganda and then change your position to match public opinion" is a playbook for losers that will just result in two fascist parties. I don't understand how people don't see this, or why they think that strategy will stop at trans people.

That's the thing. He isn't fighting the church, he's fighting the Lucavi and their plot to replace human aristocracy with demon-ocracy. Once he defeats that plot he retires without even attempting to address the church itself. He doesn't even try to expose that Ajora is a demon -- Orran does that.
marshmallowpeep.bsky.social (@marshmallowpeep.bsky.social) reply parent
The Lucavi are not they power behind the aristocracy, they're a faction within it. Dycedarg does not yet have a stone when he does the fucked up thing in chapter 1, and the aristocracy outlives the Lucavi. Ramza isn't fighting the aristocracy he's fighting an attempt to establish something worse.
marshmallowpeep.bsky.social (@marshmallowpeep.bsky.social) reply parent
Whenever class comes up, Ramza's response is "This situation sucks but I don't know what to do about it so I'll go focus on the something else and let Delita do his thing." Ramza's war in this game is focused on religion. Delita's is focused on class.
marshmallowpeep.bsky.social (@marshmallowpeep.bsky.social) reply parent
Ramza would not have said this. Delita or Wiegraf, sure. But Ramza does not fight a class war in this game.
marshmallowpeep.bsky.social (@marshmallowpeep.bsky.social) reply parent
The perception that *Harris* was too focused on trans people was a lie. All the focus was from the right. She did exactly what you're advocating for, and voters still had this perception.
