One reason that there's so much sanewashing and downplaying of RFK Jr. is that his focus on sickness and health as an issue of individual responsibility appeals to the class prejudices of a lot of elite reporters/editors www.lawyersgunsmoneyblog.com/2025/09/the-...
Scott Lemieux (@lemieuxlgm.bsky.social) reposted reply parent
The sole mention of RFK Jr's opposition to vaccines is a throwaway aside in the 12th graf of the story, amidst some credulous useful idiocy from Zeke Emanuel. Nothing about his destruction of medical research in America. It treats him like he and Obama are pursuing the same goal slightly differently

This chaos is very much the point. They want to completely degrade faith in the medical establishment and make it so difficult and complicated to get vaccinated that you just give up. DO NOT GIVE UP Don’t give them the ability to say “well no one’s getting the vaccine anyway.”

The George Floyd protests radicalized a lot of white people AGAINST structural racism. In response, the right tapped into frustration over Covid restrictions (imposed by Red AND Blue states almost equally) and white resentments to organize an old fashioned, racialized backlash against the gubmint.

A vast gulf exists between Trump’s authoritarian aspirations and rightwing propaganda about his omnipotence on the one hand - and the realities of a complex modern state and society on the other. And in that space, politics continues, possibilities to resist and push back very much still exist.
