I don’t disagree with that; my point was that the Nazis were able to leverage a second-place result and 36% of the vote in 1932 to destroy the multi-party system. Most Germans didn’t vote for Hitler when there was a choice, then choice itself was removed.

I think that it’s more intended to be about how the Nazis, despite initially lacking broad public support, dismantled democracy and the systems of government that existed pre-1931, coercively recreating the state, civil life, and society in their image. This doesn’t absolve the people who gave in.

Shin Godzilla is fantastic, but you need to expect it to be a critique of government bureaucracy more than anything else. You probably need some familiarity with Ultraman before watching Shin Ultraman. It's very hit or miss with fans. Haven't seen Shin Kamen Rider yet, but Riders aren't my area.

Oriental Cinema was how, back at age 11 in 1995, I learned about the first several Heisei Godzilla movies. There are a few turns of phrases that will always stick with me ("I love this movie so much it makes me want to break into a dentist's office and turn the saliva vacuum in reverse")

A little more seriously, the traditionally depicted ophanim, cherubim, and seraphim would be. The cherubim as described in Ezekiel are at least partially, given their four-aspect presentation. The eyeball monster praise choir in Revelation could be, if you classify them as angels.

In Newsom’s case, at best it feels like the Daily Show 20 years ago — it makes some mainstream liberals think the satire itself is accomplishing something. Unless it energizes Dems into action, it achieves nothing, because Republican politicians are immune to satire.
