Finally last post: didn’t the Supreme Court say the AEA cases “sounded” in habeas? NILC should probably ensure they are filing in a jurisdiction where one of the children is actually held.

6 USC 279, which calls for ORR to help reunite children with a parent abroad in appropriate cases was enacted as part of Homeland Security Act of 2002. 8 USC 1232 is the TVPRA- a later-enacted statute.

Honestly this is why Dems should right now start exploring ways of discouraging young men from voting. That their votes don’t matter. Epstein and Medicaid cuts are a good place to start. There’s a global elite, trumps in on it, and nothing you do can change that.

We need to harness RFRA for abortion clinics. Plenty of religions believe they have a religious duty to prioritize the health (physical and mental) and life of the mother, especially a mother that already has children, and especially in the first trimester.

We are so f’d!!! I am a liberal who thinks we need to get debt under control. The GOP is doing the opposite of that! The media needs to explain this

No one thought the parliamentarian would buy that bs since the current law is that they expire not continue. So they’re going around her so they can put this country into even more debt while taking services away from the poor

The tax cuts expire at the end of 2025. They want to extend them permanently or at least for 10 years. “Current” baseline means compare the extension to what currently exists - & tax cuts are in effect right now.

The article says their argument is that the parliamentarian does not weigh in on using the “current baseline.” Instead Lindsey Graham gets to decide because he’s chair of the Senate Budget committee

No they’ve effectively done away with any shred of fiscal responsibility. They’re not going to pay for this bloated tax cut. They’re so full of it. The tax cut is something like 4.7 trillion. Everything they’re doing to fedl employees is in the billions.

They do realize FOIA has strict deadlines. And when offices miss those deadlines people sue. And then you have to get lawyers involved. And the govt typically loses the litigation or settles and pays attorneys fees. Very efficient

Did they get it from the govt? It’s not clear. The Declaration accompanying it simply says upon “information and belief” it is being used. It doesn’t say the government sent it to them

Astonishing and also that it was the ACLU that got the doc. The govt was not the party that made this Public?

It makes little sense to say HHS cannot, via rulemaking, limit DHS from obtaining information. These rules go through centralized OMB review and relevant Depts review them. DHS probably signed off on the prior rule.

The problem with law schools is that they revere ARGUMENT. Even liberal profs encourage emulating Scalia’s concise arrogant writing style. It’s like the human element drops. Maybe law students should be forced to actually work with people in some way. After all the profession really is about people

There are federal laws on how to fire people. It’s illegal to fire him for the reason that he’s prosecuting the presidents friend. If he can swing it he should immediately get a lawyer and challenge this. He will definitely win and get back pay but would he want to swim in these tainted waters?
