This show has really gone off the rails in logic.
The main issue I have with III is the length. It's only an hour and twenty four...excusing credits and it could have been fleshed out so much more. But that's the problem when you change the script last minute and film with an unfinished one. #jurassicpark

I watched it a few times and couldn't get into it. I like it a bit more after this viewing. But yeah, not a fan of this season to be honest with you.
When the shows used to be 26 episodes, the funny episodes would total to about 3 or 4 so you could have plenty of serious episodes out of that. When you only have 10 episodes, the jokey episodes can really stand out. Star Trek gets silliness right, but it has to make sense and less meta.
The main issue I have, is that there are only 10 episodes so it leaves little time to veer off. Pike has really taken a backseat and there are way too many characters for this season to do justice. For example, "What is Starfleet?" focused on Beto when we could have been Ortegas episode.

I've honestly never been a fan of the Discovery/SNW version of the Constitution-class but these are nice.
It would be too good to be true and I would have to get my drink on.
It's considered a TV movie or Long Trek if you will. I wouldn't put it up there with the big screen adventures.

That's the problem. It's as if the writing is putting the jokes and humor first over the science or even the tension. Spock seems to be going from girl to girl and now La'an appears to be the new rebound.
I personally feel they got the Vulcans wrong. They were depicted here as robots...and they're not. It would have been awesome if they shared the experience on the Vulcan planet, because it felt like the story used the jokes at the expense of the story. Not enough strange new worlds shown in SNW.

The issue I have with SNW is how poorly Pike is handled. Yes, there are other characters, but Pike is the star. The first episode of season one, as well as the finale "A Quality of Mercy" are the only two episodes to prominently feature him. Not enough. He's really taken a back seat.
I like Beto as well! Yeah, I feel we could have had his episode much earlier in the season. From the end of the episode, it looked as if he was leaving the Enterprise. I guess he just decided to spend the rest of his time with her. I mean, obviously, he can't stay on much longer as TOS happens.

That's certainly true. It just feels like Pike—as awesome as he is— has not been prominently featured in my opinion other than the premiere of season 1 as well as the end of the season 1 with "A Quality of Mercy".
I have a soft spot for this movie.

Pike always takes a backseat in these episodes and it's as if Kirk is the captain of the Enterprise...I mean let's face it...he's on the ship every chance he gets...

Do you think Starfleet gave Kirk the 1701-A—in the condition it was in—as an indirect punishment for his earlier actions on Genesis? As you all know, the ship was heavily damaged by the Whale Probe and as it was getting a last-minute name-change and not being a new ship—test time would be limited.
Season 3 is a little messy and for a show with 10 episodes a season, there's not much time to experiment.
Loved the episode! Though I wanted more focus on what should have been the A-plot. That being was amazing!
The problem with NuTrek...is that it's too flashy and more surface-level content just to appeal to the general audience while at the same time alienating the fanbase. Now, though I love Lower Decks as well as season 3 of Picard, SNW puts canon in the backseat while retconning some things.

I just was uninterested when it went to the 32nd century. That's WAY too out there for me. I would love a show set in the 25th century. Glad you enjoy Discovery, I wanted to like it but as far as NuTrek is concerned, I just love the present-era shows (Lower Decks and Picard). DS9 and TOS is my fav
Me too! Not a fan of all the shows but still love the franchise and they all form part of this awesome vision. Couldn't get into DSC, ENT or Prodigy.

I just don't see it. As I've warmed up to Paul as Kirk over the years, he just doesn't have that gravitas that Shatner—and even Pine—masters. I would just rather we have a new show set in the 25th century continuing the adventures of the 1701-G. We've honestly had our share of prequels. #startrek
My co-worker was introduced to DS9 past week with "Past Tense" Parts 1 and 2 and he loved it! Left an impression on him and how realistic and close to home Star Trek is.
No one is going to forget about the files in a month when Congress reopens. This is NOT going to go away. You don't f*** with kids without consequences!
