I'm convinced the lack of an algorithm is a reason pundits don't care for BS. Their entire career they've been spoon fed topics: editors, PR Newswire, The sales department (if you are cynical [I am]), the twitter/facebook/tiktok algorithm. Confronted with having to curate their own list, they fail.

Too much "Both sides" content in that KleptoAI me thinks.

he product is fun for kids and works as intended, though opinions about its size are mixed, with some saying it's nice while others find it smaller than advertised. While some customers describe it as sturdy, others find it flimsy, and opinions on value are divided between those who consider it a great value and those who find it overpriced.

I'm out of ISBN numbers. Time to pay tribute $$$ to the Bowker shakedown of US publishing. Hmm - $295 for 10. That'll last 6 years. - $595 for 100 so I never, ever have to fork out these ridiculous prices again. (Peers longingly north at Canada: free ISBNs + health care + a non-fascist government🍁)

I'd add the late great Terry Pratchett to your list. Sparse, yet recognisable. The cadence and word choice suited to his humor and point. Perhaps what we recognize is that connection between idea and verbiage? The mechanical Turk can not reproduce that thrust because it is sparse in the data.

Last day I promise. The contest ends tonight. If you can spare a bit of time to help some middle-school students out, I'd appreciate it. #skybrary #booksky #schoollibrarians

They can tie in journalist's hatred of Bluesky. They are so used to being told what to think - by publicists and press secretaries on the job, by algorithms on most social media. When they hit a site where they have to discover and curate their own input, they flounder.

Here's the joint statement re: Mahmoud v Taylor from the authors and illustrators of the LGBTQ+ picture books involved. I appreciate you reading and sharing this. It was the decision we expected, but are devastated to read nonetheless. pen.org/press-releas...

Reminds me a bit of Fukuyama's The End of History. His theory, having established democracy and defeated the Soviets, we're done. These guys, we don't need new knowledge, art, etc. We only need regurgitate the old. 10 to 1 his girlfriend did his homework in school.

Given the variation, my wife thought Korea called the storage in the rear of the car "The Hold." When I asked her why, the key fob for my Hyundai is labelled "HOLD." Not because it's for the hold, but because you have to hold it down to open the trunk.
