Many of us agree, BUT are faced with the question, who decides when conditions meet a definition? If behaviors are fascistic, when are we a fascist state? How many police & National Guards have to be on the streets in how many cities before we say "police state." I genuinely don't know.

It's bred into the rural born. I grew up around adults who fled rural KY because there was no path there that would allow them to work, marry, raise their families - succeed. The city made ALL of those things possible. For many, all they ever wanted was to go back & they seemed to resent the city.
When I was growing up, my farmer grandfather always teased me about being a "city slicker" (a cute way of implying I was useless), but if I had made light about HIS way of life, I would have been in big trouble for being disrespectful. I knew that door only worked from one direction.

My representative isn't absent. He communicates w/his constituents regularly. He & other rep. may appear absent because only the shocking & provocative make news or are spread widely across social media. Not certain what Dems can do considering the GOP can & DOES pass bills w/o Democratic votes.

I never thought most Republicans actually were conservative. When the vast majority of the GOP went full MAGA, I wasn't surprised. I have a lot of respect for never Trumpers who fled the GOP out of principle. I may not agree with them on many things, but I believe them sincere when they speak.
