Bought a bunch of good Japanese incense, so I don’t have to use the disappointing dailies that are the only ones on offer here. It’s surprising no one carries even slightly higher end incense. I’m spoiled, and aloeswood is the best. When you burn it, you can feel the whole room calm.

It could be so much worse.
This was today and is tomorrow. I picked off the beads, so I could hem it. Not a big hem, but it still took almost 3 hours just to remove the beads. Tomorrow is picking off and clipping threads, then sewing the actual hem.

Rose congou is a favourite of mine. Just cream with it. The sweetness of the cream is enough. So many oolongs. I love using syrup, because tiny icicles form, and they make the ice cream taste truly homemade to me. I also love citrus. I wanted the maker originally to make lemon ice cream.

Once a zillion years ago in 1997, I was in SF and discovered an ice cream shop that only had tea flavoured ice cream. I can’t remember what I had, but it was amazing. I just discovered an oolong that tastes like butter. It’s amazing.
Here’s a drawing that my art partner in crime and I did in 2020 to protest DeJoy sabotaging the USPS. We made these into postcards and sent them all over the US. This is how to be seen. This is the most reliable way to make our income. Almost all the brick and mortar stores find us online. I’m not sure what I want to do here. I took a well paying job, because after 20+ years of the hustle, I was tired. I have the luxury of not spending the time online..
I feel incredibly discouraged. I spent so much time on my online presence. I know that it could disappear at any time, because in the end I don’t own that presence, the platforms do. I was aware of this, but do we really have a choice? As working artists, we really don’t.
I feel so incredibly tired. I’m working on a huge project that I don’t feel good about sharing online due to all the garbage that comes along with it now. It’s hard, because I’m used to sharing my process. It’s one of the best things I’ve worked on, and I am super proud of it, and I can’t show it.
This is such a bummer, because I’ve been selling online since 2006, and while the bulk of my sales aren’t international, they are significant enough. I’ve met so many wonderful people from all over, and now what? I already lost my t*tter following I cultivated over 10+ years, and now this.
Who do I know who is in the US and sells on #Etsy or #eBay? Who is going to stop selling internationally? Etsy just tells us to raise our prices to absorb shipping costs when they eliminated handling charges, but this is too much. Who has a case for continuing to sell internationally?

It works consist of two pieces of advice: Say “I like your work.” Not I love what you do, but I’d never wear that. Or you should.. And if you don’t like it, don’t say anything within hearing distance of the artist. Or just ask yourself why you need to say something negative so badly.
I normally wouldn’t have commented, but it was just so mean spirited to tell an author of *fiction* that they were wrong. I suppose it triggered something in me, because they don’t even realise how absolutely insulting they are being. I’ve been so tempted to write a zine of “How to Talk to Artists.”

I abandoned FB in 2010, tw*tter in 2022 (my favourite platform where all of my fellow industry people used to talk business, share resources, encourage and promote each other; I miss that aspect before we were reduced to screaming), I post so rarely on IG, and then came here..
I’ve been a “content creator” across multiple platforms since the mid-2000s, and I’m tired of sharing content for free. I have zero interest in trying to get people to buy anything of mine either. I’m working on a big project, and for the first time ever, I’m not sharing the process photos.
I feel the same. A lot of my industry friends who all started around the same time I did on social media are in this place. Shameless self-promotion is exhausting. I haven’t completely abandoned my business, but I haven’t really done much with it either. I don’t feel inspired to post anything.
Traumatised by a dress I had to alter today. This year has the worst wedding/formal dresses I’ve seen in my 30+ year career. So many unintentionally asymmetrical dresses. I’m not a person who prays, but I make exceptions for these horrors.
But book deal! I hate everything. I’m so disgusted by all of the leadership. If they aren’t actively supporting genocidal maniacs (why are there so many, and why do I even ask this question?), they are enabling and/or are complicit in inaction to maintain a status quo that will kill us all.
