The UFW should call for a national strike of all farmworkers. All farmworkers should stay safe at home,& neighbours should be making sure these workers & their families have what they need so they do not have to venture out in public. Everyone needs to rally around & protect those being hunted.

Community gardens? We have one in the tiny town I live in. You purchase as many boxes as you can (or as many as they’ll let you) and then get to know the other gardeners. Also, if you have a balcony or patio do some potted gardening (hanging tomatoes, lettuces in railing planters or window boxes).

You just need a few square feet for a Greenstalk. Big window, balcony, or grow lights in a closet. Got roof access?

In California we were taught the importance of farm workers, to respect them as humans but also for the incredibly demanding jobs that they do. I grew up in Salinas and every day I saw farm workers working their asses off in the fields. Much respect and gratitude.

The tsunami of unprocessed field food is coming. This blitzkrieg on human rights against one of the hardest-working labor forces on the planet will have dire circumstances on our economy.

And our souls.

I think the goal is to create shortages of everything because when people are without basic needs, they may turn on each other. Of course that can get risky for a dictator, just ask Tsar Nicholas II and King Louis XVI. Didn’t end well when they did this to their people.
