Seems like things are lining up to completely screw over free and fair elections. I know you believe we will have them again in 2 years but this regime is breaking shit at a breakneck pace. What are the options for keeping elections fair?

I’d never be so flippant about a very focused bunch of criminals whose life purpose right now is the destruction of this country. Votes and elections espec. Seems since April 5th, the country sat back into their recliners. Weve gotta stay in the streets until it’s DONE. DONE. Regime removed.

www.democracydocket.com/news-alerts/... save-act-voter-suppression-law/ No. There is so much flooding the zone but this bill can cut millions from voter’s roles-women who changed names after married is HUGE. This happened yesterday. And it’s dangerous and real.

It has to pass the Senate too. Senate Dems will filibuster it. I'm very glad the filibuster is still available.

Can they? Rules have been changed mid sentence to pass huge bills. I don’t believe the Senate rules apply much anymore. Or any other rules. I’m aware of the filibuster. Yet, I don’t trust one thing they’re doing anymore. Neither should you or anybody else. This Regime has to go. 1st in our history.

The filibuster is still in force. If Senate Dems don't use it to stop the so-called SAVE Act, many will lose their jobs to voter suppression from that vile bill. They'd also have to face an infuriated Dem base, who'd likely support primary challenges to those seen as disloyal.

Or one could also surmise that increased scrutiny of potential hacking led Musk to not try it in Wisconsin this time, for fear of getting caught and shedding light on his technique for his perfect hack job in November

I am afraid this kind of positivity fails us again and again. It’s like Merrick Garland and Mueller will do something. Nope.

never gonna happen, it needs 60 votes in the Senate to overcome a filibuster which would require defections from dems and independents and that ain't happening.

The Republicans might get rid of the filibuster if Trump asked them to

and the GOP have so far not been willing to risk getting rid of the filibuster out of fear it'll be weaponized against them once they lose power and I don't expect that to change.

if they did it would bite them in the ass when we inevitably won mid-terms, even if the act passes it's actually far more likely to hurt conservative women(as they are far more likely to change their names when they get married as opposed to liberal women who are more independent thinking).

I heard today it takes 60 votes to pass the Save Act in the Senate, is that correct?

Not exactly - it takes 60 votes to end a Dem filibuster to bring a bill to a vote (assuming Dems filibuster). The vote itself only needs a majority. Interestingly, the filibuster is just a rule that could be removed by majority vote though that’s unlikely to happen (that’s the “nuclear” option).

Thank you for taking the time to explain. I thought it was a majority, but felt relief when I heard 60 votes. I should really be studying all the inner workings of passing these catastrophic bills! I have slightly above average knowledge of Congress, but learn a lot when I ask questions!

Every peaceful protest in modern times that has reached 3.5% of the population has accomplished all of its goals. Every single one. Related fun fact, 17% of the country is on Social Security. They are one wrong move away from triggering a tsunami of protesters. www.bbc.com/future/artic...
