Demanding that everyone's rights are respected isn't a 'purity test' or 'demanding perfection'. It's the absolute *minimum* we should accept from a candidate, no matter the party.

Cancel, essentially banish from the public sphere, from general approval anyway. In the case of a politician, end their political future. Of course opposing Newsom is not about purity testing, bc there's not even a pretense of him being with the left, or being a nonslithery politician.

You assume the only purpose of criticism is to shame and humiliate those considered inferior in order to encourage them to become superior. That's why politicians can criticise the people but the people can't criticise politicians. That's not constructive criticism. It is destructive.
