Well technically there are meds for ADHD that are addictive... but people with ADHD tend to be less susceptible to getting addicted to those drugs (ADHD brain chemistry just built different) meaning only people who get them illegally are likely to get addicted.

What am I missing? I get nothing from my ADHD medication except I’m able to focus more when I work. No high, no energy surge, just increased focus & the fog clears up. I’m certainly not addicted & can’t imagine it ever driving me to it. A lot of times I end up with a headache at the end of the day.

It depends on what you’re taking them for. For short-term depression, yes, obviously you might be fine. For other people, they will become unstable and potentially kill themselves. RFK Jr. will not make this distinction.

I’m framing addiction as drug dependency because I imagine RFK Jr. is. Until people start thinking of longterm mental health illnesses as actually embodied—i.e., like diabetes—mentally ill people who cannot be cured, but must manage symptoms, will be targets.

Ok I should probably let you know that going cold turkey off some anti-depressants can permanently fuck you up. Mine, for instance, cause very real physical dependency, and it's VERY dangerous to quit outright. They need to be tapered off
