Idk who needs to hear this but red state folks are already cannon fodder. While rural people make up less than 25% of the general population, we make up almost 45% of military recruits. Also, over 40% of Missourians voted for Kamala. This video sucks on a lot of levels.
My own son serves. We were teachers and we couldn’t afford to send him to college. So he carries a gun for the US Army in exchange for an education.
A friend of mine knew he wouldn't get a job in the field we studied, so he joined the Army so they'd pay off his student loans. That was 20 years ago. He spent time in Iraq, but fortunately he was in one of the better areas of the country while he was there.

It is the route out of poverty, small towns, mediocre education, and racial limitations for so many people. I did not know this until I moved to a rural area. The divisions in the country are not simple. The continued effort to make it simple doesn't help anyone.

As someone from the south now living in MA, I’d like to point out that even MA - the bluest of blue states - is only 40% Republican. I tell them about my Dem in-laws in KY and that opens their minds a bit. Dem protests in red areas are helping people to “get it” a little better this year I think. 🤞

Things suck for rural folks but they likely won't be the targets in a war on America. It makes more sense to target population and economic centers, which is where Democratic voters tend to live. If Iran does retaliate on US soil, it will mostly impact people who didn't vote for this.
To clarify, I'm not saying Trump voters deserve to be attacked by Iran instead but just that it sucks that Harris voters would have to feel the brunt of a hypothetical attack caused by the man they didn't want to be President.

I cannot agree with this more! I live in Alabama and there are a lot of blue dots here. Going out on a limb & suggesting the majority in state and federal government who are on board w/MAGA aren’t going to have be on the ground & likely have power/influence/ money to keep family out of harms way.
This sounds good but it robs voters of their agency. Voters elected Trump. Sure, not all of us, but enough of us. Not enough American voters and willful non-voters could see the threat Trump posed and we all have to live with the consequences.

I flew 15 hours today to get to Mexico on vacation. As I left the airport someone actually yelled at me "We don't want Americans here, you should leave" And yes, the red states caused this period. They made us a global joke. Blue states subsidize most of them too. So yes, this is true.

Reality sucks. The Electoral College map is factual. No ands and buts. Red State folks have chosen White Christian Nationalism over Constitutional Democracy since the Civil War. Yes, they hated Constitutional democracy so bad they threw out the Democratic Party for passing the Civil Rights Act.
Kinda important to remember though that even in the reddest states 2 out of every 5 people you meet vote against the Republican Party every time.
I don't know if Americans who are watching our Constitutional Crises find the fact that 2 out of 5 voters in Red States voted against Republicans is a consolidation.
The point is that nearly half of the people in every red state didn’t vote for this. I think that’s important to keep in mind when thinking about those states.
But it doesn't change the facts that a plurality of Red States' voters voted for Trump which gave Trump the majority of Electoral College votes. It doesn't negate the facts most Red States voters supported a man who's known identity is vile, depraved, corrupt and amoral.
