School vouchers are a scam to send taxpayer money to private religious schools. Vouchers are also a violation of church and state.
School vouchers are a scam to send taxpayer money to private religious schools. Vouchers are also a violation of church and state.
As DOE is defunded and dismantled, public schools will lose funding to support kids with disabilities, special needs, ESL programs, etc. This will reduce inclusivity at public schools, making them as shitty as religious schools.
You're absolutely correct Jess
I’ll agree with you
Separatio of church and state is fading quickly. I'm old enough to remember having to 'pray' in school (1st grade - was stopped the next year). Raised by agnostics, I had no idea what prayer was. I prayed for snow. Never happened. :(
That tenet of our constitution sadly no longer exists in our current situation, just like many others getting destroyed every day by the most worthless piece of shit I have ever seen in my life. FDT!
Kim Reynolds is after the Iowa Public Employee's Retirement System now, where teacher's retirement is held. They truly want to destroy public education.
AMEN!!
Exactly 👍
Vouchers have decimated Arizona budget. There cutting police, fire fighters, public school teachers, before and after school programs. It's another grift for the rich!
Haven't you heard The Speaker of The House: "the separation of church and state" is a "misinterpretation" that has lingered lo these past couple centuries. A misunderstanding really.
how is it a violation to get food for kids, i must be missing something ?
In Iowa they wrote the voucher law so the state auditor cannot audit any private school that receives them. So I can open a school, teach nothing and dive home in a new Range Rover. Corruption at it’s finest.
I wonder what the tuition increases will be this year. Last year Dubuque Parochial bumped theirs by like 56%? Private schools (99% religious based and 0% in rural communities. In Iowa. Where we’re all pretty much rural….) k
All increased their tuition across the board. So basically, the entire voucher payment is a kickback, the wealthy will absorb the hike in tuition and everyone else can fuck off to horribly underfunded public education because “normal” Iowans can’t afford private school tuition WITH the vouchers.
Also, public schools don't give kickbacks to politicians. Private schools want that to keep the politician corrupt and the money flowing.
My thinking about charter schools too. I can never find anything about oversight of the schools. ( Pennsylvania)
They have proven successful for charter schools in gentrified neighborhoods to allow best education for multiple students *NOT* based on income. It’s always location dependent which is why people must work locally.
True but Orange Jesus doesn’t care This is a religious and organized criminal cult and Gestapo
Vouchers are just another grift.
Exactly.
As someone who paid their own tuition to a Catholic school, this pisses me off. Where is Mr. Jefferson's idea of the separation of church and state?
It's also a handout to wealthy parents
Universal ESA vouchers: Arizona’s $1 billion failed experiment share.google/RBh4GBTPaj2D...
They want only kids from wealthy families to get a good education. They want to starve the educational system so only those of means can get an education. This regime wants the filthy rich to rule over the dirt poor. They want a caste system that the poor can never get out of.
In NH vouchers are so unrestricted that you can move away from the state and still receive a voucher, or choose to send your child to school in another state while living in NH. Because, ‘we wouldn’t want to disrupt the student’s learning’, says the legislators.
But private schools perform better by not being required to serve children with disabilities. Shouldn't we fund those high achieving schools?
This issue is pretty much in the news here in Arizona multiple times a week. 🤬🤬🤬
So disappointing that we actually have to say that...
Arizona is prime example.
Utah voted against vouchers. Twice I believe. Overruled by the Mormon legislature. Now the issue is in the courts. Meanwhile voucher payments continue. $8000 per student. And now they want a 21% increase in our property taxes for schools! Jfc!! Vouchers and charter/private schools theft
@papst-ny.bsky.social
The Mormons here in Az get paid to home school. 😡
Always have been. @booker.senate.gov
Absolutely
It's another subsidy for the rich. It will mean that special needs students don't get the support they need. The rich will get education. The poor will be left with no education, but plenty of indoctrination into white nationalism.
EXACTLY !!!👍🏾
Do you hear that Governor Lee, of Tennessee?
Back in the day, parents paid for catholic school for older siblings without vouchers or help. Neighbors claimed Catholics got free school, didn’t pay public school taxes, shouldn’t ride the bus & threatened older siblings as I waited for them at bus stop. The ignorance then & now is like PTSD.
@piperformissouri.bsky.social, have you ever teamed up with the @ivehaditpodcast.bsky.social ??? Seems y'all would be a force!!!
The Guardians Of Pedophiles wants more kids in the pedo schools. End of story.
They’re purposefully positioned to be a discount for wealthy private students but not quite enough for poor students to afford private school. Rich people are absolutely horrible human beings.
If you want your kid to go to a private school you PAY for it. Sorta like a Private club you keep the poors out by PAYING. I was in school when they integrated. I chose not to pay for school. Rich friends took buses to next county to go to private all white schools. They payed for school.
🎯💯
Fun fact: hubs anti-socialism co workers R bitching they make2much4the socialism. 80% to impoverished families the rest2who’s left Not only does it STILL not cover the💰of those private religious schools, the very kids these parents’re trying2get their kids away frm’ll now potentially B@the schools 😂
And finally: these private schools can turn the vouchers, and thusly the students, away at their discretion. Having a voucher does not equate to being able to use it…
Texas is about to learn this lesson.
Robbing tax-payer dollars from public schools to subsidize wealthy kids in private schools.
The purpose is to wreck public education. It’s easy to see-just look at the test scores of the voucher states. Bottom of the barrel. 😩🔥💙 #makeamericasaneagain
In Wisconsin, public schools have to transfer more money for a student who transfers to a religious school than if the student transfers to a public school.
Segregationist policy. Target minorities with poverty, then target the impoverished. That way they can pretend the intention isn’t racisim.
Exactly! Another grift of the rich!
Those VERY SAME PEOPLE clamoring for school vouchers now will totally freak out when vouchers start being used as tuition at Madrasas -thereby causing more Madrasas to be opened Nationwide to fill demand -TOTAL freak out- "Aaargh! -HOW DID THIS HAPPEN?!! IT'S AN INVASION!!!!!"
Too many violations to count under this trumpster dumpster 🥶
True!!! Another GOP scam. If these schools are so necessary, let the parents pick up the tab. My sibs and I went to Catholic schools, but my parents never resented paying taxes. They wanted to live in an educated society.
My dad went to Catholic elementary school, then public after that. Sometimes I wonder if his issues with spelling are because the Catholic elementary school was really, really bad at actual education.
I have to say my Catholic education was excellent. We had nuns. Don’t know how it was after the 60s, when there was a shortage of teaching nuns.
Oh this was back in the late 50s / early 60s, when they very much still had nuns smacking hands with rulers. I went to entirely public school in the 80s, and Sunday school at the very same complex he went to elementary at. By then it was mostly volunteers with a nun as headmaster.
Sorry you didn’t have a good experience. I had great respect for those nuns. We had 50 kids in each class. Baby boomers!
I bet he knows his catechism
We don’t have school vouchers in Canada yay Canada. No to 51st state no to Trump !
#GovernorLittle @idahostatesman.com @idahocapitalsun.com @sisyphus43.bsky.social @acluidaho.bsky.social Pay ATTENTION!
Agreed. Where school vouchers MIGHT be reasonably employed is for special needs students to access therapies not available to a school system. When our son was little, our ISD was part of a "rural spec ed co-op" and children with any language development needs were limited to 30 minutes weekly,
from a language therapist traveling from town to town. No other language support was available within the schools. M--, severely delayed across the board and barely verbal, needed *daily* speech AND language therapy, physical therapy, and so on. The co-op coordinator suggested I home-school him
due to lack of available resources for this and similar ISDs. I was quite willing; I'd been doing his therapies already. But some support for families with kids who need such things would be a huge help for most. We could afford only once-a month visits to his augmented communications therapist.
Kid is now a 40-something man, able to communicate effectively with others in limited ways. Can learn from books or online sources, shop for himself, manage his money, etc. We both worked hard to get to that point. Ideally, all schools would have the resources to do the daily work I did with him.
The space, the time, the trained staff, etc. But they don't, and they won't, in the foreseeable future. Vouchers to allow parents to choose bad, bigoted, schools that do not actually teach what kids will need are just a theft from taxpayers. When I was a kid, parents paid for alternative schools.
It's Jim Crow 2.0 Segregation
100% agreed. They are also a “coupon for rich people” because this money is used to send kids to private schools by parents who can afford to send them there without it. But the worst part is it takes that same taxpayer money AWAY from public schools. It harms public schools.
Vouchers have a dual purpose: destroy public education and push the US towards a Christian-only fascist state. They should be opposed vigorously and outlawed if possible.
Yes! And charter schools, which are not public schools, exist at the expense of public schools.
So first we dont tax churches Then taxpayers' money goes to families who dont want their kids to mix with the heathen mix of the rest of us... And no one is fighting this???
public schools in calif require teachers to have a certified teaching credential, satisfying basic skills requirements and to pass the CBEST (not an easy test btw!) @piperformissouri.bsky.social
Agree!
💯
They'll do it anyways, especially now, because we have a president who is lawless.
It's designed to kill the public education system. Period. But the blowback on this will eventually become fierce. Just not there yet.
Private religious schools are where the right wing hate germinates. Keep people uneducated and they are easily led.
Rich folks are always finding a way to take from the poor. Private school tuition isn't cheap, so why pay for it when you can get others to pay it for you?
bsky.app/profile/mark...
100% agree.
Yup
always has been, we need to just removed religion from Modern Society, stop normalizing stone age cults who talk to invisible friends, pretend to eat them and drink their blood and they think they talk back to them... sound normal to anyone? it's nothing to brag about or be shoving on other people
Public schools are the only way you have to make everyone get the same education. Private is there for a few privileges elite and cult members. 😤🤬
They take quality education away from us regular folk! My FK sis pays $22k/yr for my nephew's school (which is religious even though my sister isn't). The public schools suck in FL b/c, like you said, they dont give even 1 fuck about educating kids. He wants them out in the orange groves & fields.
Tax the churches.
better yet: burn the churches
💯
Private charter schools are also benefiting from this crap.
For profit means $ to the share holders. Just like Healthcare.
It's also a scam to send more money to the rich, as if they didn't get enough tax loopholes already.
Yup.
Well, the violation of church and state law has changed, seemingly, if so called preachers become politicians... with the alleged moral authority of a creator... they still do not have to pay taxes. The Ministers Many Mansions are safe. Sigh.
Today's second BINGO! (called by myself).
They still don't get it because they're a stupid group of KLAN nazi MOBSTERS Every MAGGOT
You mean like private Islam schools? 😉
Bullseye. And such vouchers rob public schools, the backbone of early to high-school education. Children and the overworked teachers who serve them are left to an impoverished system. The societal harm is real. Everyone loses.
And All religious schools and institutions should be taxed….
Who is taking Tx to court for this?
Blacks were not entitled to the G.I.Bill after WW2. Then the Interstate Highways divided the towns by color. Then the banks red-lined Blacks and minorities so they couldn’t buy housing. Now we’re taking away constitutionally funded money for education so those very same people get nothing. AGAIN!
💯
As long they would fully fund public schools (something we’ve failed to do for decades), I would be fine with people getting a tax credit for private school if they fall under a certain income.
I say if you want to go to a private school you check a box and your tax money goes there and for the rest of us that don’t our money stays in our public schools! As a Homeowner I have a legit stake in this!
But we know they hate our Founders clear views of the separation church and state. They're smashing that every day and will fully destroy it!!
Don’t forget segregation. Private schools are all about keeping my kids away from “undesirables”
Exactly.
It weakens the education system for those that can't afford anything else.
Agree!!!
Vouchers are a back door to segregation of schools
It’s a rebate program for the rich. No one who isn’t rich can afford private school for their children with the vouchers passed in Texas this year. And it is a way to funnel tax dollars into religious institutions. #SeparationOfChurchandState is so important! Keep religion out of government!
We have MAGA assholes in our area attending religious schools with vouchers who get on social media and beg for school supplies for their kids and $ for school clothes. I always answer “Isn’t that what prayer is for?”
... The "Vouchers" go to the Filthy Rich .. Who allready have their kids in Private Schools = Yet another tax break ..... Then the "normal" people still cannot afford any Private School even with the "vouchers' so their kids get no education ... And their parents don't get the tax break ..
Its also how they have been slowly killing public education which is the whole idea. They hate that people can get an education, its easier to rule off very stupid people trumps already proven that.
I haven't researched school vouchers, but, welcome to the LAWLESS, CORRUPT, FOURTH REICH...as one character said to one another in HBO's movie "Conspiracy", about the Nazi Wannsee conference where the solution to the Jewish question was settled, "Do you think we will ever see the dawn again?"
Absolutely
Yes, we wouldn't want to give poor parents and kids the same privileges the wealthy take for granted.
School vouchers are a scam to get taxpayers to pay tuition for rich people to send their kids to private school.
💯 agree
This has been going on for years... The rich steal from the working class & poor all the time... And, somehow they are still the most miserable fucks on the planet...
Republicans: "Yeah we don't care."
100 %
We should adopt Finlands approach to education. They even teach kids as young as 6 to identify; propaganda, mis-information, dis-information, … We should consider making America great by adopting policies that are better than the ones we currently have in place. The more perfect union is possible!
Conservative Christians will continue to try and get at your kid until you get mean and make them stop. They are a depraved people who brainwash their kids from birth and want to do the same to yours.
In AZ it is a redistribution of tax money from public schools to wealthy people whose kids were attending private or religious schools anyway.
In the private school system, you get what you pay for, and vouchers don't pay for much.
Finland solved the problem. They made public schools the only legal system, and that induced the well-off and the wealthy to support schools through their taxes and vote consistently for policies that enriched the system, since it is their kids who would suffer from weak/failing public education
AGREE
You mean you think we still have a working and valid Constitution and Bill of Rights?
Absolutely. Public schools teach ALL children. Schools that take vouchers do not.
Yes Some students need services many times the average cost to educate all— extra 1-1 time, in-class support, specialists, & some need special transport with a nurse. Private schools skim least expensive to educate AND insulate those kids and their families from their community democracy🤝education
Yep. And when those students in voucher schools need extra services they end up getting them from public schools. I’m a sped teacher and I would provide special education services for students from private schools. They would be driven to the school by their parents every week.
Oh hell yeah!
It's legal segregation funded by the taxpayer.
Proper religious school funding is called “tuition.” Hands off taxpayer money.
Boy, this is a most excellent thread! Y'all so smart! Duh, must all be charter school grads, right?
Yet most politicians still lay their hand on the bible when swearing their oath of office.
It’s another parasitic move by the antisocial wealthy NIMBY class who don’t want to participate in society if it includes working people.
I worked for a charter school for about 2 months. It was all about the money, and teaching to “the Test.” We came to an agreement, telling each other to fuck off. I’d rather starve.
Absolutely. 100% a way to wreck rural and poorer urban schools. A way to force every child with any sort of special needs into a struggling, minimally funded school. 😡
I respectfully disagree that it's always a scam. I believe there times when it's justified. Studies suggest that Catholic schools can be a stepping stone for upward mobility, with many students from lower-income families attending and achieving academic success.
That being said, I know there are lots of places where, if it weren’t for religious schools, there’d be no real educational or soc mob. opportunities. But there seem to be limits and no guardrails on vouchers and no guarantees that the public schools won’t suffer apace. That’s just trading problems.
Then school vouchers can and should be an option in some cases. The answer is a system of checks and balances
Now that phrase has me all nostalgic. It’s hard to trust those these days. Besides, there are other issues. Churches have hidden child abuse, both by their own folks and by the repentant parents. I’m not sure that has been cleared up to the point that I want to fund them, not when a PS is available.
I'm sticking to my belief as I know first hand how they should be used 🙂 I'm moving on .....
I hear that, peace. I’m glad your experiences have been good! Have a nice evening.
And you also
Btw, I attended Catholic schools 🏫 from 3rd through 10th grade 😀 I did leave the Catholic Church 48 years ago lol
I think vouchers may actually diminish that result. Because Catholic school have been tuition-based, they historically are the enclaves of kids of ppl privileged enough to have the $. The social mobility advantage of rubbing elbows with upper-crust kids will be diluted when anyone can get a voucher.
I again respectfully disagree as only a portion are privileged based. There needs to be a system of checks and balances
"the separation of"
$0 taxes and now taxpayers funded indoctrination. It’s insulting AND Anti- American. Always befuddled/pissed off by the UNEDUCATED "originalist" arguments..
Charter schools are the private prisons of education.
Private religious schools can also avoid some legal/moral obligations of public schools, for an example not accepting students with learning disabilities.
I know. My younger brother gets them for his kids. I think it's revolting.
I have no major concerns with religious schools as long as parents pay 100% of the cost, and there’s no commingling of politics.
The problem is no one is enforcing the laws due to his henchmen controlling the judiciary, law enforcement and the military, which has made the oath of enlistment toothless.
They are WRONG in a democratic society
They additionally want to maintain the white supremacist curriculum being fed to their children.
Yeah... it's a way for Republicans to ... shift of money to the top and to people that are in a position to make more money from it, and way to benefit their system of indoctrination and brainwashing and conservative control. A NAZI style school system filled with obedient Hitler Youth trash.
🎯
It’s for rich people to send their kids to private schools. So the rich get richer.
Absolutely. As if they can’t afford it to begin with with. Poor and mid class won’t benefit.
I’m an SLP. I provided services to non-public schools that were provided through state and federal funds for 35 years. These people are delusional if they think their vouchers are going to be accepted at the toniest of schools they want their children to attend.
D
So is capitalism, brought to us by Calvin the wayward Lutheran. Just sayin'
Yep. The Colorado school voucher folk got shut down by church/state separation rulings. They responded by creating certain ‘charter’ schools that are essentially private charter schools. Big money in that business. Coincidentally, ‘school vouchers’ sounds a lot like ‘school vultures’.
💯
Did you watch South Park? It’s over.
They don’t give a shit about us …
We voted them down in NE
The mountain of education bsky.app/profile/matt...
Yes just like the Medicare advantage bullshit. It’s all about stealing Americans money.
School vouchers, as I understand them, are used to oppress the 'other'.
And Greg Abbott of Texas Forced HIS agenda of school vouchers on Texas against overwhelming outcry from Texans of NO Vouchers! Greg Abbott did it anyway- Kinda like his bully for redistricting now - Fuck You @GregAbbott
your occasional reminder that “school choice” means that the school gets to choose not the parents or the community so if the local k̶l̶a̶v̶e̶r̶n̶ school board chooses to decide ***for any reason*** that your little jimmy and janey have no place at nathan bedford forrest academy well
I have 3 twice-exceptional kids; IME, all schools get to choose. All 3 kids were repeatedly denied a free and *appropriate* education by our local public schools. District's psych insisted they couldn't be both intellectually gifted and have a disability. A charter was 100% better for 100% of them.
The bottom line is that these private schools are private they can pick and choose their students. Public school, however should’ve been required to write an IEP for your kiddos. But that’s great that your charter was able to provide the services they needed, that’s not typical.
There was an IEP written, but the public schools the kids attended were unable to implement the IEP so it didn't lead to *more* bullying of my kids. The charter had a very strict no bullying policy they actually enforced. Their norms included laptops in classrooms, which was 80% of the IEP need.
a perfect example of why individual anecdotes are useless in public policy formation
Jfc. You - “who cares if it steals money from public schools and who cares that charter schools are known for extreme racism sexism and ableism cause it benefited me and MY children”
Did you miss the part about all 3 of my kids had special education needs, and IEPs that the public school team wrote, but would not implement. The charter school run by our local (also tax supported!) community college, OTOH, had most of the needed accommodations as their standard practice.
Charter schools are not a problem and can be great for many kids. As long as public funds do not teach religion and they meet standards. There are a lot of district that have public charters with great success.
source
I visited some public charters in Hawaii as part of a job. They were good and one was wonderful. They met in public school property and met public standards.
Then they should be public schools not charters why the fuck is this so hard for yall to get?
Exactly.
They are public schools. They meet public school standards. There is a way to do “charters” that do not have the exclusionary practices for kids with disabilities or graft. Their advantage is unique offerings for the community with parents opting in which increases engagement.
And they should exclusively be funded by the parents who want private school bs. Period.
I've worked in schools across the US, and charters are no better than public schools. Charters look great because they have money thrown at them and support of parents who advocate for their kids; public schools get all kids, regardless of parent effort or not. ALL taxpayers should have a say.
I am talking about public charters that are public schools. The advantage they get is being something new in the community which can get more interest and support. I do not think public money should go to private charters as they are too open to graft.
Me too. I worked in them. Where families had to enter lotteries-requires parent. 100% public charter & magnet. Was not impressed with them from my experience in more than one state. Worse to me is the drain on the "unwanted" schools. I call them islands. It's simply my opinion + my experience.
I think the long-term plan is for public schools to be completely destroyed. At that point, all that will be available are private schools and only the rich will get to send their kids to them.
School vouchers equate to eternal waiting lists for the poor and a subsidized education for the rich. If a poor child is admitted it is merely as a token of proof the system works End childhood hunger and learning deficits by taxing the wealthy and turning their mansions into homeless shelters
Everything they do is just one more violation
**Government** is a scam to send taxpayer money to **evil rich fucks**. **Government** is also a violation of **every conceivable form of basic human decency**. FTFY
That said, mindless random anarchy where we just get rid of the government, with no idea what to replace it with (which seems to be what republican voters envision when they speak against the government) is total crap. Truly egalitarian governance and/or well designed anarchy would be nice...
And it's working 😡
Hopefully it’s not as hard as I believe to reverse all the crap this Nazi, Christofascist, 4th Reich is implementing
The only time our state supreme court will honor the separation of church and state is if vouchers are used for Jewish day schools, madrasas, or satanic schools.
You can be any religion or color and I'm fine with you but the minute you say "I seen".....
Plus the education from private schools is not great.
100%
Also a gift to private schools that siphon public funds away from public education.
Remember when Missy Franklin went to the Olympics? I scared a bunch of kids when I yelled run Forest. Apparently they did not get the message in Denver.
Reagan and Bush 1 started this assault on public education.
The Abbott circle is filled with corrupt, scam artists. Do better Texas 😑smdh People still voting for TX republicans is just plain nonsense 🙄
This infuriates me. It's all designed to privatize all schools. Such a load of horseshit, too.
Tax the churches already!!!
Exactly. Christo-fascism at work.
Yes. The entire education system was ruined by bill gates. The gates foundation is not benevolent.
it deprives children of edu in public school
It's the Mike Pence plan. He's been trying to get this approved since he was the Governor of Indiana.
Oh AZ former gov DoucheBag got it passed 🤬
Pence wants it to go national. Since being VP, he thinks he has national interest.
Ive been reading "Dark Money". Apparently for 40+ years the billionaires want no money wasted on public education but rather create vouchers to be used at private/religious/nondenominational schools where THEY control info taught: govt and regulation bad,no taxes, free market principals,
The right Sci-Fi illuminates Futures! And it is so easy now. Cosmic Computer gutenberg.org/ebooks/20727 Damned If You Don't gutenberg.org/ebooks/24064 Black Man's Burden gutenberg.org/ebooks/32390 Badge o Infamy gutenberg.org/ebooks/19471 Omnilingual gutenberg.org/ebooks/19445
That book should be required reading for all Americans. It explains the deep background of everything we are seeing now. It’s a several decade long plan, all of this did not come out of nowhere very recently.
I also recommend "Evil Geniuses" by Kurt Andersen. I'll be 76 in 2 weeks and am not sure i will see the ship of state righted in my lifetime (even tbo I hope to hit 100)
I'm 72, and wonder the same thing.
Yep. In the Middle East it's called a caliphate.
It's also (a very selective form of) socialism, which--despite all their protests to the contrary-- conservatives 𝘢𝘣𝘴𝘰𝘭𝘶𝘵𝘦𝘭𝘺 𝘭𝘰𝘷𝘦 (as long as it benefits groups they like.)
The love the tax breaks and their tax deductible foundations that spend billions poisoning the electorate
The one that bothers me the most is the Heritage Foundation. I can't believe that they are tax exempt!
They are ALL tax exempt. Read Dark Money...you will see just how screwed we are by these selfish pricks. They have ZERO MORALITY
I'll read it. I have a feeling it's not going to make me happy!
Yep! Public schools are closing in states with the voucher systems.
Most are run by a church and they indoctrinate children into their alternate fact beliefs without giving any actual reality.
Even if the vouchers are used at a non-religious charter school, their very existence is an attack on public education.
Vouchers close public schools.
Absolutely this☝️
All to break teachers’ unions.
Talk about indoctrination. ⛪️🕌🛕🕍⛩️🕋
Yes, I knew that was always the ultimate intent. Public schools were meant to be an equalizer, a quality education ‘for all’ no matter the state or district. #RacismRuinsEverything #SeparationOfChurchAndState
If you want your kids in private schools, pay for it yourselves! I don’t want to subsidize your religion!
We need to start taxing churches.
Vouchers are a sneaky way to re-introduce and perpetuate segregation, despite the pesky laws against it.
Tax the churches!!
And white folks who use it are scum. stop supporting things for your personal comfort and upward mobility knowing the harm it’s doing to everyone not mediocre and lacking any fucking principles.
Here we go again. Vouchers are from the Wayback Machine. The social inequity will become even more dramatic not to mention the line between church and state will be muddled. Is anyone pushing back? (see, e.g., Brown v Board of Education)
Not only that, they’re a ripoff and a fraud!
It's really bad in Ohio. Because so much money is allocated to vouchers, school districts are requesting bond issues, which have increased property taxes so much that a lot of people can no longer afford their homes (especially retirees).
Private schools should receive NO taxpayer dollars. If they need $, raise tuition or go public.
The REAL goal is to end public schools and use no tax money to educate non-white and poor people.
Use no tax money for anyone's education, period. The uber rich can pay for their kids' education. They care about no one else.
So are charter schools, a scam. Not for nothing, but Occupy Wall Street warned all of us about all of this. I remember.
I just interviewed for a job at an online school. I should have assumed in advance, but once they said “school vouchers” in the interview, I was immediately out. Fuck that shit. I’m not supporting anybody taking money away from all the kids who rely on public school.
Smart move, that online school probably is a scam in itself and doesn't really teach anything.
Absolutely 👍
Trump IS A VIOLATION OF CHURCH AND STATE.
He certainly violated something...
