I am absolutely a broken record but: Trumpers are well on their way of convincing a majority of the public that everything is normal and fine. And that is because @schumer.senate.gov and @hakeem-jeffries.bsky.social are not out in public shouting about the occupations of DC and LA.
Kristi Noem is on TV to lie about DC and LA to get everyone to calm down while they quietly stuff fascism down our throats. Schumer and Jeffries are both staying quiet and—critically—pressuring the other Senators and Reps to stay quiet.
Noem is on TV to lie to create calm while they do radical things. The proper response is to act like what’s happening is radical. Dems should be on TV *shouting*.
Note the way it goes on the other side: When things are calm and going well, under Obama and Biden, Republicans act like things are radical. They shout about Fast and Furious and MS-13 and the border and Benghazi. They know that vibes matter. Enormously.

Sorry, I should have been more precise. Yes, Trump’s approval is falling; below 40%. That’s good. But it’s not enough. We need to get him down in the 20’s before Congressional Republicans will start to stand up and buck him. What Noem is doing here is shoring up his vibes and approval.
Winning opinion polls isn't what you need. What you need is to get him out of power.

And yet the reality is that things are not, in fact, calm, that Pritzker is out there openly calling threats to occupy Chicago as just that and talking like the situation mandates from the start, not belatedly, like Newsom did. You do understand there are other Dems besides Schumer and Jeffries?
Schumer and Jeffries needed to be replaced IMMEDIATELY when they went "🤷♂️ whelp I dunno what we can do?" and "🤷♂️ eh, it's not ignoring SCOTUS so it doesn't matter." I mean IMEDIATELY they should have had their Leadership removed and replaced with someone like Elizabeth Warren or Patty Murray.
I will grant that they need replacement because they're navel-gazing petty-minded NY state politicos who forget that the other 49 states and the rest of NY state outside NYC exist, but that does not mean that acting like they're the sole two Dem politicians in the country is realistic or fair.
1/ Let me be clear. We don't need to INTERNALLY focus on Pritzker because he is Not Just Posting™. And neither did (for example) Senator Van Hollen. He did not Just Post™. These two guys are getting the attention of the Right and exposing how horrific they are EFFECTIVELY and UNAPOLOGETICLLY.

4/fin There seems to be a lot of rectionary Don't Just Post™ scolding going on in Dem circles now because on ground level that is literally all some people can do. These two people are HIGHEST OFFICE Dems and they are just flat out handicapping the rest of the party meeting the moment.
They're really not, though. How is what they do stopping Newsom from his redistricting or Pritzker and the Mayor of Chicago from taking concrete steps? Dear, it is NOT just about New York. They are not the House Speaker of New York. They are not the Senate Leader of New York. They are the NATIONAL House Rep and Senate minority eaders. If you don't want New York reps to NATIONALLY represent a party, go tell them to resign their offices.
It is not, in fact, too generic a criticism. They care more about the election of a Mayor of New York City than the threats to send in soldiers to occupy that city, or the threats to target the entire state as a blue state. That is a myopia that should see New Yorkers blacklisted from high places.
Oh in that sense I agree, but as not-a NYer Jeffries does not strike me as "more concerned" about NY Mayor. He doesn't strike me as concerned about *anything at all*. In every interview he has well-prepared focus group answers and never rises to criticize, example, Johnson being horrific.
We literally have Pritzker out there going harder than Newsom, without the baggage or Pikachu-facing that Trump was serious about his threats and being caught flat-footed. The Mayor of Chicago's standing up for his city, too. We could amplify those voices *and* go after Schumer and Jeffries.
Choosing to amplify the elements of criticism without giving a spotlight to the people who aren't screwing it up is an avoidable mistake. Right now Pritzker is the model everyone else should follow for good, Polis and Whitmer are the models of what they should not do.

There are plenty of D's "shouting" about the occupations. That's not the problem. The problem is that the RW propaganda machinery dominates the information environment, and those shouts are drowned out by the RW propaganda machinery. That's the problem to be addressed.
Then you need to do something even more bonkers to GET that coverage. Join a protest and stop some traffic. Hold a public rally in the middle of of an intersection. Tackle every single reporter in the House roaming around and TALK TO THEM, not jsut a comfy lectern in the Congressional hall.
I agree, we should all be doing that, not just posting about it. But it's always a challenge to cut thru the RW propaganda machinery, and if the left doesn't start making inroads against the propaganda machinery, we're toast. This means building the *infrastructure* to compete.

And it's not about "coming to save us". Strength and camera time are absolutely essential to Red voters as they don't see anything else but testosterone or estrogen. Pritzker (and Newsom!) is doing more for EVERYONE nationally by flipping the bird at fash than Jeffries or Schumer is by going 🤷♂️

Agree. But it's a different ballgame in deep red areas as it's much more important to be informed and spread THAT information around even to Reds who don't want to hear it. Protesting is dead in Red areas. Coming back at ppl with a well placed "whelp, that's what ya voted for!" is more effective.
The "red state people" are especially not gonna hear anything "Jeffries and Schumer" say. The protest has to be local and grassroots, that's the only way they see it. And there *are* many people in red areas who are not OK with what's happening.
Repeating catch phrases and talking about the same stories incessantly is what’s so successful about Rightwing media—Democrats should adopt their methods to get actual news out anywhere they can. GOP donors already own most of the outlets so DEMs are up against it as it is. Play on broken record!
Minus the inconvenient detail that his polls are cratering even with the efforts to convince people everything's fine, sure. And sure, the fact that the polls are cratering and that they're going out and lying is on Schumer and Jeffries, not Trump and Noem, who have no moral responsibility.
