Damn that is impressive
Damn that is impressive
Talk truth Speak plainly Listen to the people
Maybe because he works for all of the residents of KY?
Agreed. Should be in the 2028 conversations
What does Andy in Kentucky do that other democrat governors don't?
Beshear is a great candidate for 2028. He’s from a red state, he’s not a big mainstream name like Newsom is, and thus has not been tainted by the national machine of republican bullshit. Can be Carter or Clinton like and against a generic GOP guy, wouldn’t have to deal with Donnie. Hopefully.
I’m hoping Vance is the nominee. He will lose in a landslide.
Andy would eviscerate jd in a debate
The MAGA faithful will get behind anyone Trump endorses and my bet right now is Pete Hegseth. He's a macho macho man and we know how manly Trump is. Just look at his makeup and watch him dance.
What’s not to like?!
He's a Kentuckian who works hard and governs wisely. I'm glad Kentuckians recognize that.
My comment about the election being rigged was about the Presidential elections.
What does his schedule look like in four years and three days?
Moved from Michigan to Kentucky. Great Govs in both. Couldn't have made the move except for Beshear, and the town being more progressive. I love it here.
White male Christian. Sounds like some people's perfect Presidential candidate.
I voted for Andy both times, then moved to a state with a weak governor.
@brokeymcpoverty.bsky.social !!
we love andy!!
He is going to be President one day. The second I saw him I was like "Oh, calling this one"
Progressivism is what the people want. There are leftists in supposedly red states. Don’t let propaganda tell you otherwise.
That's why here in NC, most of the higher offices were won by Dems for the past two major elections. Sadly, gerrymandering is keeping the General Assembly in Republican hands
We need to put a stop to gerrymandering. It’s how a lot of the right wing clings to power.
We need bipartisan commissions to decide districts but that will never happen until Dems take back power in the G.A. and that doesn't look promising
Our next Bill Clinton.
Even more impressive given how worthless their Senators are.
Maybe Kentuckians can find a way to elect a democrat when Mitch is gone.
2 more years, right? Given that Mitch is a lame duck now I want to hope that he finally starts voting against the MAGA agenda, as he seemed to imply recently, but I'm probably getting my hopes up.
He has spent his whole career orchestrating what we have now. I wouldn't count on him to suddenly find ethics in his twilight.
Well, he did comment on how crazy things have gotten. It may have been his fault, but if he actually realizes that, maybe there's a chance he'll try to prevent it from getting worse.
Reminder that all the conservatives that helped get Hitler elected Chancellor thought they could control him and his followers and they all ended up dead by his hand. 🤔
#EverythingTrumpTouchesDies. #TheStainOfTrumpNeverDisappears
Same here. Probably wishful thinking but stranger things have happened. Wouldn’t it also be something if Massie, who I disagree with about almost everything, also stood up to Trump?
Unlikely. I'm a Kentuckian and it's a very red state except for Louisville, basically. These are the people who elected Trump to protect coal country, he said he would and then did nothing for them so they elected him again.
Yeah I know but I’m trying to remain hopeful.
Most people are stupid, and just need to be pandered to properly.
Excuse me—Lexington/Fayette Co always votes blue too.
That's why I said "basically". Because I don't want to run down a county by county breakdown. I wasn't trying to hurt your feelings.
No hurt feelings! Just proud of Lex voters for their consistent support of Dems. Same props to Louisville.
He could well be the next US president.
Wow, a poll
He’s a nice man, and we feel he actually cares about us. I mean he’s a politician but he sells it well.
Dem leaders (and wannabes) all over the country need to look at what he’s doing and then do the same.
I’m not from KY, and I started hearing about Beshear before he ran his second gov campaign. Where has the DNC been? A twice-elected Dem in blood red KY escaped notice?
I live in Texas, but he’s been on my radar since he was first elected governor of Kentucky. That took some major mojo!
The DNC IGNORES us/Kentucky We had an amazing candidate running against Rand Paul in 2023, Charles Booker 1st black man to run for U.S.Senate in KY. His was a grass roots campaign. While Rand flew into air plane hangars on Saturdays & left again, Booker only had a bus the last 6 wks of his campaign😡
Truth.
And Charles Booker continues to be a community leader in our State. Rand Paul continues to be a pathetic joke. Honorable mention to Amy McGrath!
I SO wanted Amy McGrath to wipe the floor with Turtle Face!
Correction: Commonwealth
Interesting. I just cited Massachusetts, who has elected several Republican governors and is also a Commonwealth. Both seem to be thriving under their leadership. What are they getting right that the rest of the nation is getting wrong?
Mitt Romney was the Republican governor of Massachusetts who helped his state get the health insurance the ACA was modeled on. Just shows how far right Republicans have moved since then. It's like the argument is, "If Democrats like it, it's gotta be bad."
Mitt Romney was a good governor, would have made a good President…just said one thing wrong and they crucified him.
The ACA was enacted in 2010, but 10 states have not expanded Medicaid, the federal-state program that provides health care for low-income people. They are Alabama, Florida, Georgia, Kansas, Mississippi, South Carolina, Tennessee, Texas, Wisconsin and Wyoming.
Kentucky, under Gov Steve Beshear, (Gov. Andy Beshear’s dad), was the SECOND most successful state iteration of the ACA (calling it Kynect). Then when the carpetbagger GQP Gov. Matt Bevin came in and tried to destroy it.
Andy revived it!! Thankfully!
Bevin also attacked public school teachers, which wasn’t a popular thing at that time (before MAGA). The teachers, and their families, helped defeat him for re-election.
I didn't know that.
Our Governor Kelly in Kansas has tried to get expanded Medicaid since she was voted in…the Republican Legislature has voted it down every year.
Absolutely. And as a Booker supporter from NYC, I was extremely disappointed in the lack of DNC presence in his race. His “hood to the holler” campaign was an attempt to connect groups that should be partners. Racism has been used as a powerful an effective weapon to blind white voters.
I was More than disappointed. I actually felt HOPE for a change for my state of Kentucky. Like we had a chance with Charles Booker who loved his people, loved his state. Said so over and over. Then we stabbed ourselves in the front. Heartbreaking 💔
Amy McGrath raised over 40M dollars and ran the most tepid campaign, perhaps in American history, against the evil humanoid Moscow Mitch McConnell. WTF.
That’s because it SHOULD have been Charles Booker—in that race. But they were too scaredy cat and thought her military background would win over all those uneducated voters. They forgot they don’t like female candidates, either.
Karma is taking care of his stroked out ass now. As it will with 🍊💩. Just a few more months of McDonalds cheese burgers should do the trick. I predict before 2025's end.
🤞🏿🙏🏿
Charles Booker is an awesome person. He’s going places.
I wanted to send money to Rand Paul's neighbor that beat his ass. Can't stand him and his ratty toupee.
Not denying that Booker isn't great, but Kentucky has a black population of only about 7%. In the South, he'd need a much bigger black vote to get anywhere near a statewide elected office. And too many people don't know what the DNC does. Senate races look to the DSCC. DNC & RNC aren't the same.
I’m a 71 year old Kentuckian. I know very well what Kentucky does. And what it doesn’t. Thanks.
I'm talking about the national committees, not Kentucky.
I’m talking about Kentucky.
I live in northern Ohio and they ignore us, too. Our GOP rep won with just 51% of the vote. Are you telling me that’s not beatable?
Sounds beatable to me!
Me too. And the Dem headquarters in my district still has “get the vote out for Brown” on their website. Not really future thinking.
I’m disgusted with Dem “leadership”. They kept AOC from chairing and chose to keep an ill man. I’m a senior and I know we need strong young leaders. Not the same ineffective tired faces that should have retired themselves.
Booker even visited us in the western part of the state. I don’t think Paul even come our way since he first won (which I’m pretty happy about).
YES! I voted for Charles Booker and really wish he had won. But Ky has a race problem. 😭 Governor Beshear took a lot of flack during Covid for closing churches (we also have a hypocrite problem) but, a defiant church held a revival. Dozens got sick and several died. That woke a lot of people up.
Yep, the DNC ignores us. And that's why the magats in the state have a super majority. And the state legislature works overtime against Beshear. They are soooo jealous of his popularity, but they have a stranglehold on the state. Gerrymandering needs to end
Yes, gerrymandering AND other factors: nearly All media is owned by the right wing. They keep their viewers ignorant; keep them voting against themselves by race baiting/lying The ‘reporters’ rarely ask legislators‘hard questions’ because they’re afraid of them. And-KY has a 83.2% white demographic.
That is so wrong.😑
I agree 100%
Charles Booker is a good, hardworking man! He leads with integrity and compassion.
He also managed to visit rural areas of KY. Paul has never been to eastern Kentucky.
Yes, he did visit storm ravaged Eastern and Western KY. While Rand & the Self-Described “Grim Reaper” stayed Far Away. Charles Booker is a true humble servant and Kentucky Missed Out by voting back in craven grifters to “represent” the interests of the Commonwealth😞
Charles Booker should have won, great man. But as usual the DNC ignores us!
The DNC needs a serious reality check. They’re out of touch with what Americans need to hear. The communication is lackluster. My first reaction when Kamala got the nomination was, “Why?” She ran a great campaign on short notice, but she wasn’t the strongest choice to connect with Americans.
Democrats acted like having an open convention would have been the end of the world. There weren’t primaries until after 1968. I’m older than primaries. An open convention also would have stolen all media attention from Trump.
I totally agree. Ky is so red that the DNC ignores a great candidate.
Good to meet you, Rose💙
Thanks. I’m a native Kentuckian. The redness here is suffocating.
The DNC is in charge of running the national convention and the presidential primary. While I have no idea why it gets so much attention, it's not the head of the party. Senate races are the bailiwick of the DSCC.
he's a bit of a dark horse still, which I hope he stays. You can already see Maga at work trying to damage the reputations of those they think will be favored (Newsom). Same playbook they used to beat Hillary.
Truthfully, the people of Kentucky are fortunate that he stayed. He can protect the state from Trump.
He was my choice for Harris' VP, not that it means anything anymore. Besides his political pedigree, he was also younger & could've served for 2 terms as VP and then run for POTUS.
I never understood what people saw in Walz. He was ok, but we needed more than ok.
That is a very interesting question. Choosing not to learn from those who are successful is worse than stubborn.
Same with Cooper in NC. A moderate Democratic Governor would be a good choice.
Hate to rain on the parade. Impressive state record with no foreign policy, federal executive or Congressional legislative experience. Yes, Carter, Reagan, Bushes, and Clinton did not have any of these in their resumes. After Trump, the nation will need a person with one/ two of these experiences
He’s an amazing governor. People here in Kentucky that love Trump love Andy. It Durant make sense to me why they can’t see what an trump is but it’s reality
I too like to know
1. Have a spine. 2. Stand up for decency.
And Newsom his approval is sitting at 57% right before the fires happened… won’t be surprised if it doesn’t rise.. do this show up care.. do what they are doing… for then people..
Well, he had no veto power and a hyper Republican state legislature, is he's mostly a figurehead. That makes things a lot easier for him than for other Democratic leaders.
His father was governor also, so he had a good teacher!
Isn’t it odd that we kept winning all the midterms and gained Congressional seats but not the presidency?
Too many people were demoralized for reasons I never understood and chose to stay home. Maybe they’ll care enough to vote in 2026 midterms, if we’re still having elections then. 🤷♀️😔
So, are you suggesting the Kentucky Governor for higher office?
Newsom/Beshear 2028 or Newsom/Shapiro 2028
Sounds good to this 🇨🇦!
And if trump gets his way you’ll be able to vote too 😂
Jfc, 😆,don’t mention it.
😬😬
Nah, you’re good.
Beshear was never married to Kimberly Guilfoyle.
He’s my Governor. His blazer is made of presidential material.
I live in KY. I love our governor!!!
I love the state of Kentucky. But such a strange place to have him as your governor, and all but one representative and both senators are Republican. Stay weird, Kentucky! Glad he gets re-elected
Agree! Very red state 😡 but last Republican governor pissed off teachers and they helped get Democratic governor elected
Andy is bae. I live in KY. I also wonder how the right could even smear him. We need him going forward at the forefront of the Democratic party.
Yesss!!
💯💯💯💯💯💙
YES!🙌
I really admire this man.
Beshear is a great man and a wonderful governor. He makes me proud to be a Kentuckian. He is also a real Kentuckian unlike McTurtle and Pube Head who are carpetbagger opportunists.
I really like him.
Me too. He is fantastic.
We love, Andy in Southern Indiana as well!
Should run for president in 2028 everybody else blue their wide Shapiro Kelly walz. Newsom’s done, so the only thing left is Gretchen Whitmer, and Andy Beshear
He’s just so good!
His Father was extremely popular, too.
This is one Democrat to watch out for in the near future.
Wow
Either Andy Beshear or Josh Shapiro needs to be the 2028 nominee or the Dems lose. You want to make a social statement or win the darn election??
This guy seems fantastic. One to watch for sure!!!
Maybe he can share his secret sauce recipe?
Yet they keep electing a 200 year old man who is catatonic and a man who has DONE NOTHING
Bitch McConnell has money influence. Nobody with a brain is voting for him. It’s brainwashed and/or paid for voters. You’d be amazed how many boomers support him.
As someone born and raised in Kentucky, this is the guy we've all hoped for and waited on. I now live in Nashville under Bill Lee where I feel closer to Gilead every day. Under his eye.
We moved from Nashville to Lexington. Instant governor upgrade! TN government is a toilet.
It truly is. They hate women. And public schooling. And the LGBTQ community and queer kiddos and I could go on and on....
Nice!
That is honestly pretty impressive. How'd he manage that?
Legit question. What is it he's doing to get that approval? Can it be replicated by other Dems?
Sounds like our situation in NC only I’d gander a guess that we’re a bit more purple than the Commonwealth.
He’s a decent, hardworking public servant! We are so thankful for our amazing governor!
He’s an awesome governor
That's my Governor and we love him.
We need a charismatic pro labor candidate for 2028. I swear to God if we get Newsom for 2028 I'll be so fucking sad.
❤️❤️❤️
Thank you Governor
Now if an equally popular Democratic Female Presidential candidate can get elected we’ll be making progress.
He needs to run for McConnell’s senate seat!
Yet they keep reelecting Mitch McConnell and Rand Paul. What the actual fuck?
The thing is, the Democratic bench is thin in the Bluegrass State.
That Deep South. Even royal England was like get these fucking idiots out of here. They were even too uptight and religious for fucking England.
Dems never found a Senate candidate as good as their governor, yet. Beshear is not exactly a progressive but he has been a smart governor who understands his constituents.
This. It makes zero sense.
My thoughts exactly. Can anybody explain it?
… So, there’s no succinct way to describe the correlation between Libertarianism, MAGA (they’re almost the opposite of each other), the Republican Party, etc., but I tried here. Some facts are from Wikipedia, studied opinions are my own. His help us!
… pay for roads, bridges, buildings, the Military, Social Security, Medicare, etc., right? So, the tax cuts in Trump’s first term, Pre Bush’s (both) & Reagan lowered taxes for corporations & the 1%, but increased taxes for the middle-class & National Deficit, each GOP President! True…
… attended Christian Churches… MAGA is about ‘taking us back’, & so, that group of people follow Trump. Meanwhile, the Libertarians & the rich wing of the GOP, are looking to lower taxes on themselves, which logically increases taxes on the middle-class & poor because somebody’s got to pay for…
… Jesus said to them, 'Give to Caesar what belongs to Caesar, and give to God what belongs to God'” (Matthew 22:21). Anyway, MAGA means to go back to the 1950’s way of life, when 90% of the US was White, when much of the Southern States still had Jim Crow laws, ~80% of the population attended…
Does that explain Andy B?
…with all things made of man and man’s speech, words get twisted into meaning things that covert people want in order to attain more power and money. I believe, this is the sad case of many “followers of Jesus Christ”, who advocated for separation of gov’t and religion: Jesus said…
…”Separation of Church & State” in the 1st Amendment of the US Constitution: Establishment Clause" in the First Amendment, which states "Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion," essentially prohibiting the government from favoring one religion over another. But, with…
…many immigrants to the US left their countries (England, Scotland, Germany, etc.) because of religious persecution by their governments, & those countries having endured wars between religious groups associated with government figures. The Founders of the US advocated for “Separation of Church…
…on “Christian principles”, because they were Christians themselves. So, although it is true that many of the original founders of the US were Christians, their writings specifically advocate for writing laws that allowed our gov’t to prefer one religion over another - after all, most immigrants…
… was a beginning for them. There are those on the extreme right conservative spectrum that advocate to overturn the US Constitution to reflect Biblical laws to make the US a Theocracy. Many of these people even profess that the original Founders of the US “founded” the US Constitution on…
They know Trump is not a person who reads the Bible or attends religious services, but Trump is totally transactional & if these people will vote for him, he promises to give them what they want. The overturning of Roe v Wade & the appointments of VERY conservative justices on the Supreme Court…
So, many Christian communities became more active in politics, urged on by their politically active leaders, & did pretty well, financially. Many (just Google it) support Trump & campaign for him. Many have come to believe in Trump as a messianic figure of biblical prophecy, to these followers.
… that the US Gov’t, the “Liberals” were politically attacking the foundations of Christianity by welcoming immigrants, people of color (POC), other faiths, etc., into the US population to replace the White Christians. This makes people who are not familiar with immigrants fearful of those them…
…The Great Replacement Theory (GRT) is directly opposite to the teachings of Jesus Christ & Christianity, the GRT is based in fear & hatred & lack of compassion for others. So, as the Republican Party courted the previously non-political Christian communities, they did so by implying that …
…have used ‘The Great Displacement Theory’ as a basis of attacking & prohibiting those immigrants. This theory has been around since the Middle Ages, & when the immigrants look physically different, have accents, etc., it’s easier to be prejudiced against them. Obviously, The Great Replacement …
…95% of them identified as “Christian”. Since then, more People of Color have migrated to the US & from the Southern US States to the Northern & Western States. Changes in immigration patterns always cause some disturbances in population’s cultures, throughout history & many who disagree have…
…who largely didn’t vote at that time: mostly rural Christian voters who didn’t involve themselves in politics- they wanted separation of Church & State, mostly to keep government out of their Christian communities, schools, etc. In the 1950 US Census, 90% of Americans were “White” & 95% of them…
MAGA: “Make America Great Again” is the co-opted slogan of White Christian Nationalism. After Republicans lost so many voters in the 1970’s, after Nixon, Atwater proposed that the Republicans, who largely favored a Libertarian platform at that time, went after the votes of a group of Americans who…
We know. 🤦🏻♀️
Same reason Strom Thurmond was re-elected since the Jurassic period
I know. I live here and I literally do not understand it myself
Best governor in my lifetime. And I'm old.
The absolute best.
Same!!!
People elect governors who get stuff done for everyday people—-Democrats. Same people elect Senators who reflect their political prejudices, no matter how ill-informed or flagrantly stupid—-Republicans.
Kentucky in a political nutshell. Born and raised in Kentucky.
A lot of people put very little thought into their vote.
My sister who lives in KY “splits her vote” on purpose so “they have to work together to get stuff done”. I repeatedly question her education. I know she went to the same schools I went to but why doesn’t she have the ability to critically think?
Very old school thinking
She turned 50 last summer. I lived in central Fl for a while. She wld thrive there. I struggled with the politics and the way of thinking. Very racist & not well educated opinions galore!
Evidently not. That’s pretty simplistic thinking. Very common now.
Moving to KY did it to her. She worked retail for a bit and that skewed her view of the public. She now manages a high end retail warehouse & the employees are not the hard working, committed drone-like workers our parents taught us to be so she feels ppl are the problem.
So true. I had a coworker share that she votes the way her husband does. I've never been married, so I may not understand. I have my own mind to decide who I want to vote for.
Right. Democrats for governor because they don't want to suffer, Republicans for Senator because they want other people to suffer. More red states should figure this out, looking at you Texas.
He went up against Matt Bevin who was deeply hated by his own party.
Yeah and then won a 2nd term , easily
Because of his excellent job performance especially during COVID
And natural disasters in Eastern and Western KY
Yep because Kentuckians realized that Andy gets shit done.
Same!
Ditto!
I don't understand it, but I think it's something like the historical trend of New England states electing Republican governors.
PRE- MAGA or non-MAGA Republicans are different breeds.
I live in Kentucky, even with the republicans trying to hamstring him, he’s gotten a lot done to help Kentuckians and people see how great he is for us. I just wish they would see how bad McComical, Comer and Paul are for all of the USA.
Who knows. I live in Kentucky and don't understand how we could elect a truly great governor and still keep McConnell, Rand Paul, and Thomas Massie in office.
Are they getting the votes or the fix?
No clue.
Had Booker one instead of McGrath there was a shot. Still tough for some people to look across the party line even if it’s best for the state.
Keep in kind that Massie & Paul are different from McConnell. Somewhat like Hillary & Bernie McConnell is establishment. Paul & Massie are libertarian Libertarians, like Progressives, are stickier to their beliefs, so they buck the trend sometimes They appeal to the "Don't thread on me" red areas
Most Libertarians run as Republican’s, they usually don’t win when they run independently as Libertarians. The Koch Bros, Ronald Reagan, Ron & Rand Paul, Thomas Massie, Matt Gaetz, Mick Mulvaney… They oppose taxes & ALL Social Programs like Social Security, Medicare, Medicaid & Universal Healthcare.
Ron Paul & Matt Gaetz seem like libertarians for different motives Ron because he's a Hayekian & Constitutionalist Gaetz because he wants to do drugs & fuck high school girls Bruce Yandle's "Bootleggers and Baptists" theory comes to mind Maybe I'm wrong. It's not like I've read the ethics report
Libertarians embrace supply-side economics, arguing high taxes discourage economic activity and investment, tax cuts would result in economic growth leading in turn to higher government revenues. According to them, additional government revenues would reduce the debt in the long term. (Wikipedia)
Javier Milei is an interesting case study, but he is replacing complete incompetance Libertarians do a good job of identifying the mismanagement of public finance by government I'll take Paul over idiots, but I'll take good governance over DTOM🐍 US involvement is needed, so I differ there
The Libertarian platform emphasizes individual liberty in personal and economic affairs, avoidance of "foreign entanglements" and military and economic intervention in other nations' affairs, and free trade and migration. (Wikipedia)
The Libertarian Party supports your right to: keep what you earn. Reduce or eliminate taxes whenever possible. (Wikipedia)
In the libertarian concept, individuals are responsible for their own health, their own well‐being and the fulfilment of their life plan. Therefore, everyone pays for their own individually experienced healthcare needs, directly or indirectly through private healthcare insurance. (Wikipedia)
2022: the Libertarian Party stated, "Recognizing that abortion is a sensitive issue and that people can hold good-faith views on all sides, we believe that government should be kept out of the matter, leaving the question to each person for their conscientious consideration." (Wikipedia)
Libertarian’s social policy supports ending prohibition of illegal drugs, criminal justice reform, supporting same-sex marriage, ending capital punishment, and supporting the right to keep and bear arms. It’s the 3rd largest political party in the United States by voter registration. (Wikipedia)
I know that's the libertarian ideal (or, in other words, "I've got mine; f**k everyone else"), but it's deeply ironic in a state that relies so heavily on federal aid.
Democrats & progressives would be better off in selling their message, if they actually let Republicans have the society they wanted in terms of removing social safety nets Governance isn't easy. This country needs a better system of promoting leaders who aren't going to mismanage public finance
That would be bad for me
I'm not advocating for it, but letting GOP policies prevail would: 1 Fix taxes, budget, & prices 2 Push 10M+ into poverty, homelessness & earlier deaths GOP/Libertarians prioritize the free market as their moral compass Dems/Progressives prioritize human existentialism as their moral compass
Yeah, I know. I live here. What the actual.. what you said!
💙👍🏾
He is a good governor and tries very hard to make things better for all Kentucky. Unfortunately our state house is maga controlled now and trying THEIR best to undermine everything he does.
Facts
Take heart - despite their best efforts he is hugely popular. That really says something! In my gerrymandered NC a Democrat won the governorship. Trump is the only person MAGA blindly follows. We must remember that - we are building.
Thank you for this optimistic post. In these dark times, it’s refreshing to read this point of view.
Agree
Could we please duplicate this in Texas?????
And yet the idiot supermajority in Frankfort treats him like garbage. If that doesn’t tell you that the people electing these idiots don’t mean much to the party, then I don’t know what would convince you, at this point. If you’re still voting red, have the day you deserve.
Yes, it’s infuriating that he has had to put up with so much crap from them!
I agree they treat him like crap. And when things never change it won’t be because of the Dems!
That supermajority is the worst; we can’t seem to shake them and so many of them run unopposed.
True ,they are trying to take away his power as Governor .
They have already chipped away at it considerably. He can’t even appoint someone to a vacant senate seat. They get to do it.
Kentucky largely gets ignored by the DNC.
Too true, I’m afraid. Maybe these numbers might make them reconsider.
Even Republicans know this guy is a good dude
Look out Mitch.
Mitch has already said he will not run again after his term expires. He’s been grooming his boy Daniel Cameron to take over after him. 🤮🤬
All well and good, but isn't there a path for the current governor in there?
He’s a role model on how to lead and govern in a way that speaks to those you serve—-regardless of party.
I really like him
Kentucky working and poor folk have been treated very badly by their existing politicians its time for a change in Kentucky. 👍👏
reTHUGliCONs have controlled Frankfurt since 2000! They keep shitting on us but gaining more R voters. 🤦🏻♀️😭💔
A model for the Country it seems.
@papst-ny.bsky.social
He should run for Mcconnell’s seat.
Ok guy! Can’t wait to see more of you!
We really need to address the undecided and the offended voters... We need Bernie, at least, as a running mate.
He is actually a really good governor. The biggest problem he has should he decide to run for President in 4 years is his own party. He is not an extreme left Democrat. I do think he’d win however.
Maybe Kentucky is learning that Liberal policies are good for the people & the planet
We aren't, sadly. Beshear is a bit of an outlier. Name recognition got him in as AG and he's just the most competent politician in most rooms. We've sadly had crises (Covid, multiple floods) that have allowed his competence and compassion to shine. Still ruby red in the rest of state government.
Followed him during handling of the floods. Competent, caring guy. He and Roy Cooper would make good running mates but talk is that Coop will be running for Senate in ‘26.
And as we all know, approval ratings never decline once someone runs for president.
That applies when you have ovaries.
Why 65% approve of Beshear yet vote MAGA across all other state seats makes no sense.
🤔mmm “Allegedly” Could Be🤔Maybe 🤔 Perhaps 🤔 THE ELECTION WAS RIGGED ‼️ 🤷♀️ just saying 🤷♀️ Things that make you go 🤔mmm
I am talking about the Presidential election in general ‼️ good to see they chose him.
In KY, trust me you don't need to rig the map. Raised there. I know first hand.
Maybe because he's the nicest guy in the country? Gosh, idk...
I got to push back a little bit on the Gerrymandering. I was raised there, grew up amongst the people. Both parents were born, raised, and remain in the state. It's always been Republican leaning. When Obama was elected president, you could hear a pen drop in public areas.
When I visit home, I have to drive past the land my grandparents share cropped. Went to school with their grandchildren. Trust me when I tell you, most of that old blood is solid red. No help needed. And not fond of newness. Hence, why most of my classmates graduated and left the state.
He protects retirement benefits promotes and enacts health initiatives. Those are the biggest things. Without him, many in the state would have lost their pensions to Republican greed. During COVID, he held daily conferences explaining policies, plans, and challenges.
I believe everything else is muscle memory voting. Very conservative, very adverse to new things mostly rural state. There are really only two blue pockets in the entire state and that's two of the biggest cities: Louisville and Lexington.
The Beshear name carries some weight in KY. People loved his dad, and Junior here validated the trust given him. The real challenge is if they want to trust him with any other office like Senate. ...or if DNC will follow Beshear's example and live their alleged values.
I 💯% agree. Plus, I was raised in KY.
Daddy couldn't keep a job to save his damn life, so I moved a lot. But native of River City over here, very VERY out of water.
His daily briefings were very comforting to my elderly parents and I would love him forever just for that.
Me too. My parents and I would plan dinner around the briefing.
That’s right, no sense
They usually vote Democratic for local county offices also.
Sometimes. Local politics is more about who they know personally or can relate too. State and federal, lets put it this way Mitch has been in office most of my life and I'm 45. Solid red.
They don't. The individual districts are gerrymandered to elect Republicans.
Look at US House districts, for example. You basically have Louisville Metro, as blue as it gets, and you have the rest of the state, neatly divided into five easy red pieces.
Kentucky and NC are similar. Very gerrymandered state & Congressional districts.
💙💙💙
Maybe we should have run him
One of the few bright spots in this state. Not sure why others in Kentucky keep voting for the other horrible people, Rand Paul, The turtle McConnell, Andy Barr and James Comer. Embarrassments to us all.
Andy is the best.
People keep wondering about upcoming Democratic leadership..... Seems to me this is a guy that knows how to get crossover support
He should replace Mitch
Why were we not given this as a choice Dems?
Yep. He really is very kind and down to earth.
Now, if only my state would just pick better senators and Reps. McConnell, Paul, Comer, Barr etc. 🤢
This is the next presidential Dem nominee. No to Newsom. No to Shapiro. No to Whitmer. Emphatic NO to Harris. This is a POTUS
Lifelong Kentuckian here. He just does his job everyday❤️
Kinda weird ain’t it?
Yes!
Andy Beshear is awesome! Unfortunately he’s the only thing awesome about Kentucky regarding politics. The legislature is a “R” supermajority so any good thing the Governor wants to do gets shot down. And anything he vetoes from said legislators they override the veto. It’s frustrating as hell.
Wow!
The Old Tortoise’s replacement in the Senate right here.
That’s why Mitch is not leaving
This Kentucky ex pat is thinking the same thing.
Would be so amazing!
That's my governor!
Always intriguing why Red states are ok with Dem Governors and like what they do for them, but keep voting for idiot GOP for national levels.
Because we lack education. One thing that Gov Andy values above everything else. He’s done so much to improve Kentucky schools.
That is Kentucky, from what I've noticed.
Everyone in ky can agree on one thing, Andy Beshear is a good man!!
I'm thinking he'll be in the mix for the 2028 Democratic nomination for president- that's if we have free and fair elections anymore.
If we have 'free and balanced' news, I'm sure we'll have 'free and fair' elections.
We won’t have 2028 elections that are real, show elections a la Russia, sure. But pull your head out of your ass.
Will be very different in 4 years time.
Yeah he's a white man popular in a red state, sounds perfect. I know nothing else about this guy.
I was hoping he would run for Senate. We know he can win statewide.
Yeah I would love it if this governor and Gavin Newsom get together what a ticket that would be in 2028. Both very top individuals with good experience on how to analyze and work things out. There's nothing on the GOP side that even comes close. Trump is done and there's no one else for them
Newsom will never win...the GOP would love it if he ran. That's one reason for all their bullshit about him, re: CA fires. They are preemptively destroying his brand, and he's already got one strike against him - California.
I'd love to see that in 2028 but we have to realize that #45 ain't done until he calls it quits. His Repub allies may try to change the Twenty-second Amendment to keep him in office perpetually. He's already mentioned the possibility.
I think they're already planning on trying it - not sure if they're going to argue it only applies to consecutive terms or some other BS?
But won’t he be dead by then?
He's been deteriorating mentally and physically, but don't put it past the GOP to try a Weekend at Bernie's thing with him
Trump has already floated this.
An economy in the tank and a collapsing infrastructure from purges of competent federal employees will make staying president VERY hard. Also, I suspect that once he blatantly crosses the constitutional line into fascism, powerful blue states will quit taking orders from the feds.
that's 1 thing that's lost on purged employees. Imagine a bridge collapse & instead of getting DOT engineers on site, you get some MAGA high school dropout there instead with his hand out asking for a kickback to steer the repair or replacement to his brother's company, who may not even be qualified
Once again, from your lips to God's ears. Here's hoping every word you said comes true.
Just what we need, more white men.
I’m not voting for a ticket with Newsom. Please understand there is a large contingent on the left that feels this way before pushing him. We will write in Shawn Fain, Bernie, etc.
But things have always been that way. Especially with the Bernie Sanders crowd and the Michael Moore's of the world. I get it. I'm just saying for the masses for our chances of beating DeSantis, or Cruz or some female they throw out there like Hailey, we better get our crap together
The thing that hasn’t been is Democrat support for that. They are pleasing the donor class and eking out 51% victory by appealing to suburban moderates. The better chance is to get behind a solid young energetic leftist base and bring in non voters who will not come out for the corpo suit.
The tide is shifting, there’s a reason beyond sexism why Kamala lost so bad. I know young Dems that are moving this way, it’s not just the old socialist that always voted that way. We aren’t voting for bad candidates (for us, the corpo frens) because they’re just not R’s anymore.
So you're saying maybe a younger version of bernie? But who is that? Who do you know of that might be emerging from that? Alexandria ocasio-cortez?
No, I don’t. She’s good. Shawn Fain would be good, broad appeal and his work with labor transcends the culture war. I just mainly know who isn’t the answer at this point.
Still pissed that Biden waited so, so long to bow out. Giving Harris only 90 days for a presidential election was a terrible disservice to the Democratic party. Had there been a primary/debate season for the Democratic party I'm virtually certain Newsom would be the president-elect right now.
I like Newsom and he's a great surrogate for Dems on TV, but I think he'd get vilified as an out of touch California liberal even more than Harris was.
Agreed. He has what I call a "De Santis" problem. Florida absolutely LOVES De Santis but he doesn't play well at all on the national stage. I think Newsom would have that same fight from the opposite end of the political spectrum. I still think he would have beat our big, orange, special boy. :)
How do you imagine that the right wing will be able to take him as "out of touch"? The guy is running the largest by far state in the country and the fifth largest economy in the world if it was a country. He has a huge diverse 40 million people state to run. How is he "out of touch"? Of what?
They'll just run video of the homeless in the cities in CA over & over again.... and then videos of crime in CA as well. Doesn't matter that crime is worse in most red states - the crimes in CA will be the ones that get airplay and would force Newsom to respond.
And we're going to run videos of cops being crushed & killed and maced and hit with clubs & dragged out and beat senseless at the Capitol building. What's your point man!? CA is a massive state of course they have some problems. That's why you need a big man to solve them. Are you sure you lean D.?
If we have free & fair elections in 2028, it likely won't be Trump running again, so Jan 6 will not be as big an issue to most Americans. And, since the right has a much bigger media megaphone, anything the Democrats do in response will almost certainly get drowned out by the GOP 100 fold.
The right wing doesn’t necessarily use logic. They use emotion. If he feels out of touch, if he has the out of touch vibe, then they will believe it’s a fact that he’s out of touch
You are making a reasonable point. But that's not what the right leaning public will grab on to. He is from California and that's all that matters.
And by the way so was a multiracial multinational female and she only lost by about 1%. You put a alpha male white guy with the intelligence and wit and experience of running the entire state of California out there and he's going to get millions more votes. This is just my opinion
But the "right leaning public" as you call it. That's nowhere near a big percentage of America. I think the big majority of America is Middle independent, MALE &leans Democratic on most issues. Trump was elected because of the weak choice of Harris, and of course Biden dropping out way too late.
You and I know that Newsom isn’t out if touch. We pay attention. Trump had his minions believing there was a pet buffet happening in Springfield.
Out of touch. 🙃
I mean I like harris. She would be a good replacement for Newsom as governor of california. That would be a perfect setup for her. But for president, this country wants a white middle-aged male ass kicker who knows how to talk to the media and the bullshitters. And that's Newsome
Newsome & Buttigieg would get my vote ❤️🤍💙
Exactly. I think some of these people in here are pseudo-democrats and they just kind of Disguise it. An alpha male who doesn't take shit from anybody. He's not a biracial woman with lower exp. at running something like Newsom has in ca. Dems need a "trump type", only minus the rapes and lies
But I'm talking about the type of person. Donald Trump has been vilified as all kinds of nasty shit, and yet here we are! Just because they will attack him as a liberal California? Fuck that! I'll take that over a fucking rapist criminal! But yet he got elected! don't get your point on this one man
Why would Newsom have done better than Harris in the primary? It would have still been Harris..
I think via the primary system that he would have outperformed her. Really liked how the debate between Newsom and De Santis turned out.
Good point.
I mean look at Fox News and Sean Hannity trying to interview Newsom. He absolutely destroyed Sean. That's when I knew this guy is the one. He's like Trump only he's one of us! He gets out there talks shit and doesn't back down. No more playing nice! That's what the Dems need!
And by that I mean my point is Bashear of Kentucky, , he's much more vanilla and subdued, almost like a Southern Baptist preacher type. Commonwealth of Kentucky is one 100th of the problems and diversity running California has. Newsome is doing fine. We need the alpha male type
I just think you're simply wrong on that. You're talking about the governor of a 40 million diverse state with all kinds of economy sectors, he has the experience. The big thing on Harris was her lack of experience! Surely you remember all of this? We need a clinton-type experienced white male
I agree that a Clinton-type Gov would be a much stronger candidate. And sadly, being white, tall, and handsome helps a lot with some voters. But Newsom has the California baggage that would energize the right. Andy Beshear would be a much better fit for the "white male with experience" model
I simply disagree. They need an alpha male quick-witted won't let you walk all over him type of candidate. Just go rewatch that Sean Hannity interview. I don't care about California rhetoric or Kimberly Guilfoyle or whatever her name is. I want an experienced ass kicker not a Bible Belt vanilla
Not Newsom.
😟😟😟🤔
Trump has vilified him, he can’t win over republicans. And I’m not super stoked on the way he’s handled some things in the state lately.
Also you have to remember California is such a diverse diverse State over 40 million people! A huge economy. It's a real tough Hall and I think overall basically he has done pretty well. Far better choice than someone like DeSantis, who is already trying to run. Look at his public stuff lately
Oh good god, not even a competition. DeSantis is shit. Newsom is 100% better but I don’t think he’s a good presidential fit. I’d like to see someone else is all I’m saying.
Yeah I understand you. Governor Brashear is definitely a top person also. I'm not discounting him. There's plenty of time for him to get going in this next couple of years. I also like Dan Goldman the representative from new york.
I’ll check Dan out. Thanks.
Well, as a woman, I would love to see a woman president before I die!!
My 85 year old mama just told me this in October. I don't think she will see it now. I hope to.
So would I. Too many Americans need to overcome their misogyny, chauvinism, and good old boy attitude.
Yes they do!!!
I agree. I also think we’re still a little ways off. There were older women who voted for Trump only because he was a man and that was their view of how the country is supposed to be run. I think the next 4 years will define who we are for years to come.
You are correct. Like I said I really really thought Kamala had everything she needed and it looked like she was really popular. But the numbers in the end spelled out something that the Democrats have to figure out and admit to.
Two reasons we have not had a woman elected Pres. 1. Sexism ( and women are as guilty of this as men!) 2. Racism( see above) We have to change the heart and soul of this country.. until we care about our fellow humans more that wealth and power we are doomed
I don’t think we can change the minds of people who cling to conspiracies for their daily fixes of dopamine. The insanity has grown with time and what would once have been viewed as obscene is normal. Half of the country is blindly in an abusive relationship with their political daddy.
And it's all helped along by Putin and his army of misinformation Bots working for their military trying to tear apart democracy especially america. They've been all over the Internet literally for years now and it creates nothing but confusion and hate and divisiveness
Not only that look at what the National Enquirer did to Hillary Clinton and how they protected trump. And now you have Elon musk, and how many others!? Zuckerberg!? I'm telling you the elites and the oligarchs are taking over just like Biden mentioned in his speech. Bernie has been talking about
I honestly can’t wait to see how they explain the cost of groceries this summer.
Exactly. Citizens united ruined pretty much all of that. They'll never get the money out of politics. They won't even put a law in place that the Congress can't partake in Wall Street trading while they're in office. Money is King in america. And it's spoiling everything
I totally agree with you. I actually thought Hillary was going to be it. I mean look her husband was super popular and he would be back in the white house so to speak. And she's obviously smart and experienced and a lawyer. She got almost 3 million more votes! Just a couple of wrong States
I have zero doubt Hillary would have won were it not for Comey and our corrupt media.
Yeah that crappy pulled just 11 days before the election was an obvious public assassination attempt. Probably swayed tens of thousands of Voters. And that's all she needed in those key Northern Battleground States. I couldn't believe Michigan and Wisconsin
I will always be angry that Hillary lost. She had more experience than anyone! Well, I guess I am still sad that Trump won over Kamala and will never forgive those who chose him over her!! What is wrong with these guys??!😡😡😡
Preaching to the choir! I thought Hillary had it. And she got a little sick and got dizzy and had to take a few days off. But she did very well in the debates. Just couldn't win Michigan and wisconsin. I'll never understand why
Sadly, having a V instead of a P was the “problem”. Not to oversimplify it, but if a man who performed that well in the debates, and had that much experience had been the Democratic nominee, he’d have won in a landslide. It’s so disappointing
I think you hit the nail on the head. Even some of the younger male Democrats probably just didn't like her, because of the reasons you listed and I just think we need to get back to the basics. We need a Bill Clinton type. That's why I like Gavin Newsom
Newsom, unfortunately would be tarred with the same brush as MVP as a California Liberal. Andy Beshear is looking like he is our vanilla guy that people can get behind.
I totally disagree. The Democrats need to go full on alpha male, only they have to lean left of center. They have to use the Donald Trump mold. Or we're just going to get the same results that we've had because we're picking women. And this last time a woman of multi-nationalities. Just my opinion
Putin hated Hillary. He had troll farms pushing misinformation. No one believed it at the time. Zuckerberg knew. He also sold our data.It was was used by Cambridge Analytica to target voters in the 2016 election.Cambridge closed operations in 2018 after the Facebook–Cambridge Analytica data scandal.
I’ve been saying this on this app for 24 hours now. People so worried about TikTok when our data is already farmed out.
But those are Stateside domestic data sharing. Some would say breaches when they go too far. And at least we have legal remedy when we find out about these companies. You have ZERO remedy when it's a red China communist party trying to bring down America, looking for secrets, undermining US citizens
...how about those who chose NOT to vote at all!
Some people say approximately 90 million voting age legal adults either didn't vote or didn't register to vote and then go vote! That's a lot of people. A lot!
I didn't get a chance to vote for Hillary. My, lives in MS, Mother, in MI, passed away that day, and I had to fly before polls opened to get to her before she died.
I'm sorry for your loss.
😟😟😥
We have to get people out to the polls and vote. It may not be these two or neither. There are a lot of qualified democrats out there. By the way, let’s not start the campaign on Tuesday. PLEASE!
Many women in this country will not support a woman for president. They’d rather have a felon instead. It’s infuriating.
As my wife might say, she'd rather see a president who is a woman, than a female president because she's a woman. But given a choice...
That's apparently gonna have to wait unfortunately
Shout it to the people in the back please.
Huh? No. Not Newsom. That's a lot of testosterone. That would piss women off big time.
Because women really stood up for Clinton and Harris.
I was about to say so many women voted for Trump because they couldn’t handle it was Harris and not a Becky like them, they can all get stuffed. I don’t care who it is. Woman. Man. Black. White. Brown. Gay. Straight. Give me a destroyer. Give me someone who buries the religious right for good.
You make a good point. And when I see candidates like Governor brashear, I immediately go to more of a Bible thumping Kentucky type almost like a Baptist preacher type of a person. I don't think Dems are going to vote for that. And certainly not the General Public from what we've seen lately
Beshear’s only real problem is he will be called a nepo baby (not that Trump isn’t a massive nepo baby). Other than that, he’s pretty damn likable. But we’re really sleeping on Jared Polis and there’s always Wes Moore in the wings if he does well in Maryland.
Polis is a rat
He’s ran Colorado extremely well
Or, give em what they ask. They say we want the Nanny State. Give em a highly qualified Nana type. And let her go all Mrs Doubtfire on em. Sometimes children need to be reminded their acting like children
Christ I miss Ann Richards
Because men really Stoff up for Clinton and Harris.
They did not, at all. Was responding to a specific comment.
Nope.
This, in its entirety.
Women and blacks will never get another shot because whites and Hispanic men overwhelmingly won’t vote for them is what you’re trying to say.
Nobody said anything about Black people. Hillary is White. White women and men will not vote for a woman.
The comment you agreed with was literally “women won’t vote for women”. WHITES won’t vote for women was my point.
Women across the board should have 80+. If it was, She would have won.
I'm starting to get a little bit lost on this whole thread above. But I'm kind of agreeing with you. I just don't think generally Democrats are going to vote for a mixed race woman yet. I think this country is going the other direction. White Alpha A types. And to me there's none bigger than Newsom
I agree, it's just that I'm also saying that when that person is like a mixed race also. The whole India comma / Jamaican thing. The right Wingers and the Trump people went hard on that big time. I'm just saying the Dems need to get back to the Bill Clinton types, you know what I mean?
Quiet as kept, Bill Clinton sort of did what Trump did. Remember, he admitted to smoking weed, and the Media tried to make it a bad thing, but he widened his demographic? He was also rapey too but I was too young to vote or look into all that at the time.
Well I was there I remember it all. He literally got caught and shit upon about his lies about not having sexual relations with that woman, Monica lewinsky. But they got him in the end and this was all before his second term. It came out, and he still won big time again. Dems need that type again
I don't know about the whole Jennifer Flowers rape thing, but he DID get caught telling a small white lie when they asked him about Monica Lewinsky, the 21-year-old intern in the white house, and he still won re-election by a pretty wide margin! So your point is right! It's okay to be Alpha A type
Exactly. There are professionals who have studied what happened a couple months ago and I'm pretty sure they all realize that there's a shift in this country and we're going to have to get with it. That's why I say Newsom. Literally seems like the Dem version of trump when you think about it
But then I just got another female commenting that she says that they will all get behind someone else because they are definitely not liking Newsom? I'm like why?! The guy ripped apart Sean Hannity during that interview. I was super impressed. And he runs california. That right there is a huge Plus
My problem is I just can’t get inside the MAGA brain to work out what they want. I look at people like Hakeem Jeffries and Jasmine Crockett and think damn they’re good politicians, and then remember, oh yeah, most people think they’re unelectable as president.
I would like to see someone who will refuse to work with MAGA Republicans. I want him to name them. I want him to say why. Just flat-out run on that and kitchen table issues. I want him to curse regularly, I want him to go to rural America more than battleground.
And people really love aoc. But then look at where she's from and how people have attacked her constantly. It's just really tough out there
I have a in-law person who has worked in the CIA for a couple decades, she's very smart, I trust her opinion. She said that in her observations of what happened, she said women definitely bailed and screwed up this whole election for Harris. She's been really pissed about it. They stood back
This.
why is it the womens fault EVERY. DAMN.TIME? Men failed her too. Moreso.
Totally agree. I am still pissed.
I've literally almost shut down all of my news intake unless it's just my local affiliate up the road. I don't want to hear or see anything about politics, and this might last years. Trump is going to try to fuck this country over these two years before the midterms. I just can't stomach it
Not to mention that finally, a few days before inauguration, trumps baby Jared and ivanka made a 1.2 billion dollar deal with Albania to build a luxury resort. Kind of like the luxury tower apartments that zivanja would rent to foreigners to launder money. They never had to live there.
Give her a hug, I feel her anger and disappointment💙
Yeah she's been upset big time. I'm not around them they live way up in Michigan I'm down in Florida. But I've heard solid Through the Grapevine that she literally is almost in ill health because of how depressed she was that it was obviously women who didn't come through
I am sure she feels betrayed- tell her to join Blue Sky- I joined November 6th and it has brought me hope to know the result while devastating is not as condemning as originally thought- there are people who care, and people who are working on things. Baby steps, baby steps will get her there- 💙💙
Eh Hemmm...This woman part of the 92% DID NOT BAIL...thank you very much🪷👑
Yes, I shouldn't paint in broad strokes - 38 or so million women voted for Harris....but....
Yeah...the rest let US down...annnnd the sneaky underbelly of what ACTUALLY happened on that day...😔
I'm more scared for 2028. It's gonna be open and honest and not a goddam nothing we can do about it. Hope I'm wrong.
Definitely...I hadn't even thought that far out.. Guess I need to start...still hoping for a hail Mary from ANYWHERE🪷
Probably a lot of mail-in ballots from certain zip codes that they knew were heavy DEM, we're probably tossed out for technicalities and that affected literally tens of thousands of votes between two or three key States
I have no doubt about that...NOTHING truly surprises me...Just pisses me off further...especially as a black woman...and folks wanna question why we are angry?!🤦🏾♀️😔
Of course not. There's millions of you. It's just that there wasn't enough million. There needed to be another million that didn't decide to just forget it. Or were threatened by their domineering boyfriends or husbands to not vote for Kamala or just sit it out. SOMEthing happened, and I'm pissed
This.
Sad.
That's what she claims anyway. She is super super pissed off at the female voter electorate. Don't ask me how she found out these numbers, but working in the cia, I'm pretty sure she knows how to look at what happened in the demographics of who voted for who. I'm sure they have inside information
I have female coworkers and friends that did not vote for her. I was stunned to realize they were still supporting him, but here we are.
I know and I saw all those rallies for that last month, just ridiculous sold out rallies and all of the numbers were ticking up for weeks and a weeks in a row and she was shown to be ahead but within the margin in three or four key states. And then all the sudden she loses!? I just can't believe it
I live in California and even though I like Newsom he should not be running at the national level- the amount of idiotic grounded hate for politicians in California would ensure not winning
In 2024, Kamala Harris got 1.8M fewer votes than Biden did in California in 2020, even though Harris is from California.
Nailed it!
Not this woman.
Well I'm not sure this country is ready for femininity and people of color. Barack Obama was an anomaly. I think people are ready for smart middle-aged white guys. Testosterone type guy. That will bring in more male voters who obviously did not vote for Kamala. That's just my opinion
Democrats need somebody with charisma to win-they had that with Bill Clinton & then Barack Obama. They did not have it with Al Gore, John Kerry, Hillary Clinton & Kamala Harris - yes, they're all smarter & far more qualified than the Republican they were up against, but were not the most exciting. *
* Biden was the exception in 2020 because of the covid lockdowns & Trump's corruption & colossal incompetence.
Yeah there's no doubt that covid was probably the only reason Trump lost. I mean he really fumbled it and listened to too many idiots like Bannon and Breitbart and Jones and all of those idiots. Still can't believe Harris got almost 2 million fewer votes than Biden. That's just astounding to me
In California alone, Harris received 1.8 million fewer votes than Biden did in 2020, and Harris is from California. Trump closed the gap in many blue states not because he did better there, but because Harris got fewer votes than Biden in CA, NY, Mass, CT, NJ, etc
⬆️⬆️⬆️THIS!
Sad but probably true. They need a moderate …
Yeah as as the other person in here criticize me for that comment, but I'm talking about is that as far as president, I think we would get far more voters if we went with a well spoken good looking middle-aged white guy who's got some balls and intelligence. Not disparaging Harris. I'm just saying
Nope. Harris barely lost. "femininity" wtf? "people of color" wtf? "testosterone type guys" wtf? You know women vote, right?
I know I know. I've just heard some experts say that they suspected that a lot of women did not vote this time. Either that or controlling husband's/ boyfriends forced them to vote for Trump. Or maybe even many women just checked out because of that? A sister-in-law who's very astute, said the same
And to me Governor Brashear would be the perfect vice presidential candidate. He's obviously young but very more subdued and calm and quieter, and can build his experience and develop maybe a presidential run later on? I think Newsom has the chops that maybe Brashear Lacks? Not to put him down atall
Look at Brashear's approval rating in a Red State. He's ready. Newsom would lose.
I definitely noticed that. And I'm not downplaying him. I'm just saying it's the Commonwealth of Kentucky for crying out loud. Gavin Newsom is running the 5th or 6th largest economy in the whole world. And by far America's biggest most complex state. I give him credit. It has to be real tough
The only reason people have a skewed impression of Newsom is because of all of the hate and vitriol from the right wing bull horns in the media because they know he's a top top strong individual in the biggest state by far in the country. That's why they go after him. They see him as a threat
Cuz obviously this country votes more for the hutzpah kind of a guy. The alpha A type male guy. The good looking quick talk doesn't take crap type of debate person. To me, in other words, we're looking for a democratic left-leaning candidate that's basically a Trump Style, if that makes any sense?
Democrats win with charismatic candidates dating back to JFK. Clinton won twice in the 90s and then Obama in 2008/12. When Dems run bland/intellectual types, they lose: Adlai Stevensonx2, McGovern, Mondale, Dukakis, Gore, Kerry, Hillary, Harris - no matter how well qualified.
I'm literally going to copy this and save it on my dashboard. That was absolutely a perfect explanation of what has happened. And you're absolutely right. I just think Newsom is like basically the white version of Obama when you think about it. And he has a little bit of that Trump in him
And the reason I say that is because I remember the Sean Hannity interview, and Gavin Newsom absolutely gaped that guy right up his asshole like numerous times during that interview. That's what the Dems need! I like harris, but damn, Newsome is hardcore, kind of like Trump like I said
Americans have typically elected “change” candidates from both parties. That doesn’t mean it always makes sense. It should help Dems in ‘26 and ‘28, but it will still be challenging due to some structural electoral disadvantages.
Nope.
Well I mean I'm not disparaging Harris and the way she performed. I'm just saying that this country isn't ready for it. It's obvious just look at what happened! So we need to go with a trump style person but a Democrat left leaning. And that to me is Gavin Newsom at the top of the ticket
Newsome brings one huge thing to the table. He's one of them, for us. But one of the 1%... they do tend to like bad news better from one of the club. They'd market him as Bruce Wayne... And I'm only being a little sarcastic.
I understand. I just feel with some work and some smoothing out that guy is one of the Best Bets the Democrats have of beating whoever the Republicans put out there in '28. Obviously smart and quick-witted and knows his shit. That's what we need!
Agreed... he's currently short-list material.
I wonder how awful things have to get for us Dems to just lock arms and get the R’s out! Do we still have time to do this? And can we stop bickering long enough to get it done?
Vance has the billionaire tech backing and in my opinion will be their 2028 candidate. Those same South African billionaires are why he is where he is today. The office is for sale.
That's a good point. I also think people like Ted Cruz, even DeSantis will be running near the top of their selection process
Vance, Cruz & DeSantis have less charisma combined than my middle finger. They all come across as pretty dislikable.
They ran before and never made it very far. Both are horrid individuals.
Yeah I know but I can't think of anyone else unless maybe Nikki Haley? She was playing it down the middle and was criticizing Trump but backed off at the end. I can see her getting middle of the road votes
It's hard to say. They really have so many awful people in the party that it is going to take a lot of digging to find someone decent.
It will probably be Nikki Haley. She was siphoning off a huge chunk of trump voters and Independants in the middle there. She just had no backing. No money train
BUT she's a woman. The US is so far behind.
I think her ship has sailed. Four years will feel like forever and she will be an afterthought by then.
That's an understatement.
Newsom is my governor and I love how he stands up to MAGA but he is seen as being more left. I feel like Andy Bashear is seen as more of a moderate and has a broader appeal to voters. He also has a more down to earth approachability and communication style than Newsom.
Wow those two would be Awesome?
The coolest thing is he had his entire wardrobe all made out of the exact same material! Presidential material 😎
Oh come on. You got me, though.
Daddy Andy. He was a hero during the height of covid. I claim him as my governor because I live in Indiana. Close enough.
Congratulations to Gov.
These are the dems we need to look to and listen to for the future of our party.
Cool if true.
He’s a very nice man. He wins by kindness
that's the way
Fantastic
Wild that the same people elect Mitch McConnell and Rand Paul!
We love Andy! The best part about living in the Commonwealth of Kentucky!
Facts!
My wish…is that he’s allowed the appoint Mitch’s successor.
I hope he runs for Senate in 2026.
Is he term limited for Gov? May be to do more for the Commonwealth by staying where he’s at.
His second term ends in 2027. He would need to resign to run for senate, but this would give our Lt. Governor a chance to prove herself ahead of the election. Andy was phenomenal during the pandemic with daily updates at 5pm on TV.
Works for me.
Me too
As an 86yo woman, I too am blue, nobody to chat with. Pat
I hope you find some good folks here!
Hi Pat, west coast blue state here. But wanted to say hello and a new follower
Nice to meet you Pat! I’ve followed you.
Live here in KY too Pat, following you
Hi, I live in Graves county. Or, I should say exists. Pat
I’m in Louisville, glad to meet another KYian on here!
We are in Henderson, my hubby's hometown.
Louisville here too ! Following you .
Hi Pat. Blue dot in a red state. Nice to meet you.
Dito ! Following you now 🏳️🌈
Coach Walz is my Governor, but Beshear is great as well!
Maybe we need governor Andy Basheer as president to save us from becoming Gilead if that’s even possible now.
I agree Hope he wins
Proud to have Andy as my governor. 💙
Same
Hope he considers running in 2028
A ray of hope. ✔️
Ooohhh. I see
A good man.
Andy is the real deal. We love our gov.
He's my Gov.!
He’d be a very strong candidate for president in 2028.
As a Kentuckian, I would love to see him take McConnell's seat in the Senate.
Fingers crossed!💙
Wouldn't that be perfect! We should've ditched Mitch a long time ago.
Oh come on. You mean you don't love having 2 of the worst dredges in the Senate? I'm joking, of course. I have lived in Kentucky long enough to know our 2 senators are useless morons who accomplish precious little for Kentucky. Andy Beshear would make a fabulous senator.
I'm so tired of voting against those piles of dung.
I think that’s a better strategy for him than POTUS. Idk if he can win over the entire nation but certainly a KY Senate seat is much more possible,
Me too. I can't see him as president. Not yet anyway. He's too humble for POTUS
Absolutely. My guess is he will be the frontrunner to the Democratic nomination in 2028
Racing through KY, to get to Ohio, during the last ice storm. I was quite impressed with how serious he took the whole event. That man deserves his popularity, he cares about his taxpayers
I think everyone on the left, as much as it may hurt, needs to abandon all social media except BlueSky. We need to make a statement and hit Zucky and Musky, where it hurts.
💯 AGREE! And working on just that! was never Twitter or X so ahead 1 there!✌🏼
BlueSky and Spoutible will be my two main platforms going forward.
Already have
Done.Deleted FB,Threads, Instagram. Deleted Twitter (X) the day musky bought it. I do not miss any of them. Blue Sky is Great. News BBC, AP, Reuters,PoliticalWire,1440. Substacks from Heather Cox Richardson, Medias Touch, Jessica Valenti, Andra Watkins, Alexander Vindman, The Contrarian and others
I quit X but not sure I can give up FB. I am spreading misinformation about Zuck there. 😂
Since there's no fact-checking allowed. Who's to stop you?
I've got IRL friends and family who mainly use Facebook, though after I'd been on it for six months I got bored with it. Some rather large number of years ago, probably during Cambridge Analytica, I logged off, moved it to a VM, wiped its Windows presence, and maybe fire it up 1-2 times a year.
Done!!
We ❤️ our Andy! He’s done more for Kentuckians than any sitting governor in the last 100 years.
How the Hell did tRump win in Kentucky if your governor has such high requard? Destroyed ballots?
Andy is a great Governor. Too bad he's hamstrung with the likes of our MAGAt super majority State Legislature.
Beshear definitively Presidential!
He should run for president.
Andy Beshear and Roy Cooper. 2 of our best governors, Dems in a red state. I hope Josh Stein does just as good as these two.
Absolutely, Democrats need to look at how these two governors have been so successful in Southern states during the peak of MAGA power. (Tech crazies have begun to take the power MAGA won for Trump.)
If the Republicans could gerrymander voting for the governor, they would.
Future presidential candidate?
IF, we ever have another POTUS election. Andy is on his second term so he can’t run again. Democrats don’t have any viable candidates so I look for reTHUGluCONs to have a trifecta. That’s okay though. People should get EVERYTHING they vote for! 😈 Like they did with corrupt Bevin.
I wonder how he gets Kentuckians to look past the (D) nest to his name?
MY Governor!
In freaking KENTUCKY of all places
And he was a choice for Harris as vice president. Had Kamala picked Beshear, they could have won Kentucky
Not so. Trust me on that. They don't know Kamala and she is black and female. In Red KY, the home of Mitch and Rand, not happening.
You are right. No matter what he does for them, it’s still hard to get past bigotry. My MAGAt family back there hates him as much as they hate her. They just think I’m a stupid liberal & am probably glad I moved to CA. My lesbian butt is glad I moved too. lol
I know what you are referring to. I don't have MAGA family members, BUT my family is surrounded by them. I would say 85% of the community is MAGA.
That's debatable. Voters in the Appalachian are notorious for voting against their interests.
I was rooting for him as VP at the time but I’m happy it didn’t go to him because she still would have lost but now he can run in 2028,
Nope, it was in the bag
She could have picked Andy, Jennifer Lawrence, the UK basketball squad, and Secretariat, and Trump would still have won KY by 30 points. It's so weird.
President Beshear has a good ring to it
Google Play search for E-Play free music software
Beshear, newsom and Shapiro are the hot ones- let’s see what they do in the next few years
Andy knows how to get things done. I wish he was governor of Indiana.
So how do Rand Paul and Mutch McConnell keep getting elected.
I have asked myself that for years. 🤦
To be fair, the Democrats haven't put forth candidates who could contend with them. I don't know why, but they haven't.
I’m thinking a President Beshear in 2028???
Can’t wait to watch Beshears trajectory up the ranks.
I love this man!
Nice!
Mr. President 2028
Beshear/Warren would be my dream team.
Think you have to go younger than Warren. Like maybe Hakeem Jeffries, Chris Murphy, Cory Booker ?
Beshear/Cuban, for me.
I am a Kentuckian and he is by far the best Governor of my life time.
Spread the word!
What is he doing right in a southern state?
I live in a neighboring state and love Andy. But I often wonder how much of his master class level of success is attributed to his family name. Is he a phenom standout worthy of emulation or legacy beneficiary? I sincerely hope the former. And, he’s a Tyler Childers fan, to boot.
He won against a man endorsed by Trump in a heavily red state. I don't think his family name did that. I don't know if Beshear was just that good, or if Bevin was just that bad, but it could just have been the perfect mix. Whatever it was, I'm thankful he's out governor.
Unfortunately, none of that seems to transfer to other Kentucky Democrats...
The folks who know how to read love him!
Yup, but they are still tRumpsters, @meidastouch.com .
He needs to get out there a little more if he wants to be president.
2028 is a long way off. Democratic party has to rebuild and rebrand before a serious search for the 2028 candidate can begin. A generational change is required for the Democrats. Beshear, Chris Murphy, Wes Moore [Maryland Gov], Cory Booker & Hakeem Jeffries come to mind.
Women? No women on that list?
My personal next tier would include Gretchen Whitmer, Shapiro [PA], Polis [CO], Pritzker [ILL] & Mayor Pete. [I'm keeping them under 60]
The man is absolutely killing it here. Make no mistake, there should be no discussion. He should 100% be our next nominee for POTUS.
He is the most pragmatic governor I've experienced in Kentucky, even while under fire from the Republicans that overrun this state.
impressive
Explain the rest of the elected officials in Kentucky
Idiots and Christians.
Gerrymandering
Doesn’t explain their choice in senators
Wow! Lucky Kentucky.
Looks like Presidential material to me
Note to Democrats: you can elect Democratic leaders even in your deep red state.
I was born and raised in KY but escaped in 1989 via the military. Beshear is about the only reason I’m proud of KY, and my family hates him with a passion. That means he’s doing a great job. 😁
A spark of light and all this darkness. May goodness and justice prevail.
Looking presidential
Hope he runs for President in 2028.
He is truly just the nicest guy.
Maybe run him to replace McConnell.
I hope he runs next time. He was my first choice for VP this time.
I sure he runs for president in ‘28
Frankfort screws him over everyday
I’ve always said he should of ran against the FELON, hopefully he runs next time 🙏🏻
Character counts!
Love him! I was hoping he would have been Kamala's VP pick. I think Tim was also a good one as well.
I did too, I think he would've scored in key states.. he's amazing..
And elected twice! Probably has a lot to do with his dad’s legacy, but he was my governor when I lived there and yeah, people love him.
Even though there’s a supermajority of R’s in the KY state house & senate he ignores their whining & keeps his head down & does the work & takes the well deserved credit for it. He’s a gem!
Yep. He mostly wins their stupid lawsuits against him. 🩷
He should be the 28 candidate.
President Andy Beshear for 2028 #AndyBeshearforPresident2028
And he doesn’t whiff on topics antithetical to magats.
He seems to be doing something right. Can he bottle it and pass it out to the rest of his party?
Everything I have heard about him is wonderful! ♥️
Why do they keep voting for McConnell & Rand Paul?
I’m a lifelong Kentuckian and I wonder this daily. 🤦♀️
I was hoping Harris was going to pick him for VP
When democrats govern everyone benefits.
Would live to see Andy in the White House and Gloria Johnson D(TN) in a cabinet position over education.
