Strange New Worlds has so many great elements & a universe filled with things we've heard references to but never seen they could develop on. Yet, it haphazardly smashes those pieces together, creating a final product that feels rushed, compacted and with many inconsistencies. I still have some hope
Part of the issue is how compacted the narratives are, it removes nuance & natural exposition by removing the time/space required for it to develop. Judging the episode as part of Star Trek, I hated it. As 50+ mins of general entertainment, it was ok. Had comedic moments that were enjoyable, character building moments that were insightful. But, it felt fragmented, tones of certain scenes clashed and it felt... silly, and not in a fun/good way 😞
